This research aims to (i) explore and describe the process of cultural and religious acculturation in the Sayyang Pattu'du tradition in the Mandar community (ii) determine the views and meaning of the Mandar community towards the Sayyang Pattu'du tradition (iii). The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The number of informants in this study was 9 informants who were determined by considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. The research results found that (1) before Islam entered Mandar, Sayyang Pattu'du was only intended for traditional ritual events or as a means of welcoming nobles. However, after Islam entered the land of Mandar, precisely in the 16th century AD, during the 4th Balanipa king, Daetta Marra'dia, he then made children more active in reading the Koran, he announced to his people who was able to recite it. Al-Qur'an then he will be mounted on a dancing horse and paraded around the village. (2) The implementation of the Sayyang Pattu'du culture certainly has a big influence on people's lives, both from a social, religious and cultural perspective in the area. This celebration is a cultural celebration that is very meaningful and has a positive impact in the Muslim community, including the implementation of the Sayyang Pattu'du cultural celebration which can be a motivation for children to recite the Al-Quran.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (i) menggali dan mendeskripsikan proses akulturasi budaya dan agama dalam tradisi Sayyang Pattu’du pada masyarakat Mandar (ii) mengetahui pandangan dan pemaknaan masyarakat Mandar terhadap tradisi Sayyang Pattu’du (iii). Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Jumlah informan pada penelitian ini sebanyak 9 informan yang ditentukan dengan memperhatikan kriteria inkluksi dan eksklusi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa (1) sebelum Islam masuk di Mandar, Sayyang Pattu’du hanya diperuntukkan pada acara ritual adat atau sebagai sarana penyambutan para bangsawan. Namun setelah Islam masuk di tanah Mandar tepatnya pada abad ke 16-M masa raja Balanipa ke-4 yaitu Daetta Marra’dia yang kemudian agar para anak-anak lebih giat dalam membaca Al-Qur’an beliau mengumumkan pada rakyatnya barang siapa yang mampu mengkhatamkan Al-Qur’an maka dia akan di naikkan di atas kuda yang menari dan di arak keliling kampung. (2) Dalam pelaksanaan budaya Sayyang Pattu’du tentu sangat berpengaruh terhadap kehidupan masyarakat, baik ditinjau dari segi sosial, agama ataupun budaya yang ada di wilayah tersebut. Perayaan ini menjadi suatu perayaan budaya yang sangat bermakna dan memiliki dampak positif di tengah-tengah masyarakat muslim diantaranya adalah pelaksanaan perayaan budaya Sayyang Pattu’du dapat menjadi motivasi bagi anak-anak untuk mengkhatamkan Al-Quran.
