Abstract

The results of the initial situation analysis show that there are still many chemistry teachers who aremembers of the Kediri Regency Chemical MGMP who have not yet carried out practical activities.Practicum is still felt as an activity that is burdensome and time-consuming, both in terms of preparation ofpracticum instructions and tools and materials used. One alternative is to provide understanding andexamples of interesting practicum and still be able to practice skills and knowledge. The choice of inquirylearning model is based on the fact that inquiry-based practicum will encourage students to be activelyinvolved in discovering their own concepts or knowledge through practicum using scientific methods thatare assisted by practical instructions. Based on the community service activities that have been carriedout, it can be concluded that this community service activity has proceeded as planned. Based on theresults of the questionnaire, this service activity is very useful for partners in an effort to improveunderstanding of teacher competencies, particularly regarding understanding of inquiry, inquiry-basedpracticum, and using pipette and burette tools as a means to improve the competence of chemistryteachers who are members of the MGMP. Even based on the results of further questionnaires, partnersexpect increased activity, in terms of quantity, or in terms of other material delivery.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The society 5.0  era requires the active contribution of the younger generation to solve problems in the community through implementation of scientific methods which involve integrated science process skills (i-SPS). The rapid technological development makes social science students able to practice i-SPS through practicum methods. In addition, the existence of internet access can facilitate them to criticize phenomena through argumentation.. The aim of this study was analyzing the integrated science process skills (i-SPS) and argumentation of social science students. i-SPS were trained through demonstration methods and virtual experiment methods using pHET simulations, while argumentation were trained through debate activities involving pro-groups (pseudoscience view) and contra groups (scientific view). The research design was mixed method, the qualitative aspect is a content analyzing on i-SPS achievement of social science students who did rotation learning methods, while the quantitative aspect was the correlation test between i-SPS by pHET and argumentation. Mean score of  i-SPS by pHET was 83.46 and i-SPS by Demonstration was 55, while mean score of argumentation waas 77.88. The results of the nonparametric correlation test was r calculation was 0.175 smaller than r table 0.404 (sig 0.05 and N 24), so it was concluded that no correlation between i-SPS by pHET and argumentation. Majority of social science students about 75% have unequal category combinations of i-SPS by pHET and argumentation. Students’ i-SPS-PHET does not affect their argumentation. Several factors can influence the argumentation of social students, such as experience about phenomena, information disclosure in digital era , and the characteristics of debate involves pro and contra groups which expands knowledge.

Abstract

Community service activities aimed at teachers in the Muhammadiyah 5 Porong Elementary School in the form of training and mentoring of English language materials are based on the need for the application of the use of English in the school environment, especially since English has become a local content lesson. This service activity is carried out for 6 months. In this activity, training and mentoring is(Permatasari, Ressa Dwi Citra; Taufiq, 2021) centered on three main materials, namely the use of English in the classroom, namely the use of English that can be inserted or included in the material taught by the teacher. The second material is English for activities outside the classroom, namely interaction activities between teachers and students outside of class hours and the third is English for daily communication, which can be practiced between teachers on various occasions within the school. The teachers are very enthusiastic about this activity, and it is hoped that there will be follow-up activities related to the material taught later. Furthermore, it is hoped that after this activity, teachers will be able and brave to teach in English, using it in school activities and in daily activities to support the use of English in schools.

Abstract

The principles of CLT align with the evolving needs of EFL learners. They address the demand for functional language skills that go beyond rote memorization and passive learning. Moreover, as language is generally seen as a tool for communication rather than a set of strict rules, CLT emphasizes interaction, authenticity, and real-world language use within the learning process. Through qualitative research design, the study aims to gain profound insights into the nuances of CLT application within this educational context. The primary participant is an experienced English teacher at an Islamic Elementary School in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia. She was chosen for her extensive background in CLT and teaching experience. The instruments for data collection include classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with the teacher, aiming to understand the challenges, successes, and strategies employed in integrating CLT principles. As a result, CLT integrates mechanical, meaningful, and communicative practices, fostering language proficiency through active engagement in authentic communication scenarios. At the school, CLT methodologies are employed to create dynamic learning experiences tailored to students' needs, nurturing enthusiasm and fluency in English.

Abstract

This current research intends to identify and explain the forms of speech acts produced by the teacher in a learning video published on a YouTube channel. This research applies a qualitative descriptive method to respond to the problems studied. The findings indicate that among the various speech acts used, directive speech acts are more produced by the teacher in the video. It can be concluded from the results that 26 utterances produced by the teacher (25.2%) belong to representative speech acts, 52 utterances (50.5%) to directive speech acts, 2 utterances (2%) to commissive speech acts, 23 utterances (22.3%) to expressive speech acts. Directives are mostly produced by teachers inside the classroom while asking and questioning and become the most dominant directive speech acts produced by the teacher. It may happen because, in the learning video, the teacher gives students the opportunity to study a problem and try to solve the problem independently.

Abstract

This research aims to find out (1) What is the work ethic of clove farmers in Lacinde Village, Pitumpanua District, Wajo Regency (2) What factors influence the work ethic of clove farmers in Lacinde Village, Pitumpanua District, Wajo Regency (3) What are the efforts of clove farmers in economic development in Lacinde Village, Pitumpanua District, Wajo Regency. This type of research is descriptive research that uses qualitative data. Data was collected by conducting observations, interviews with informants, documents obtained from related agencies and several photo documentations taken by researchers in the field. The research results show: (1) The work ethic of clove farmers in Lacinde Village is still lacking because clove farmers in Lacinde Village have low enthusiasm in carrying out their activities as farmers. (2) Factors that influence the work ethic of clove farmers are educational factors, community culture, and geographical environmental conditions. (3) Clove farmers' efforts to develop the family economy are to improve the quality of clove plants so that they can produce good fruit and thus get a high selling price. Clove farmers will also harvest cloves when the clove fruit is ready to be harvested. Clove farmers in Lacinde Village try to maintain the quality of cloves to be sold by only picking cloves when the cloves are ripe or have started to turn red, so that when they are dried the water content is minimal, because when the cloves have flowered they are only harvested, resulting in scales when dry. becomes reduced
