Abstract

The quality of public elementary schools in Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency has not yet reached optimal standards, partly due to variations in leadership, discipline, and school culture. This study aimed to examine the influence of principal leadership, work discipline, and school culture on school quality in public elementary schools in Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency. The research employed a quantitative design using a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 178 elementary school teachers selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring variables of principal leadership, work discipline, school culture, and school quality. The findings revealed that principal leadership had a positive and significant effect on school quality by 29.1%, with the vision and mission dimension contributing the most. Work discipline also showed a positive and significant influence on school quality by 38.2%, where the discipline in task implementation dimension had the greatest impact. School culture had a positive and significant effect on school quality by 42.3%, with the democratic culture dimension contributing the most. Furthermore, the combined influence of the three variables significantly affected school quality by 68.8%, with the student learning outcomes dimension showing the strongest impact. These results indicate that principal leadership, work discipline, and school culture significantly enhance school quality and student learning outcomes in public elementary schools in Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency.

Abstract

Academic supervision is a crucial element in school management, focusing on improving the quality of teaching and teachers’ pedagogical competence. This article aims to provide a comprehensive description of the planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up processes of academic supervision at SD Negeri 02 Limbangan, Ulujami District, Pemalang Regency. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that supervision planning is conducted cooperatively by involving teachers; the implementation takes place through classroom observations and reflective discussions, while the evaluation is carried out comprehensively by providing constructive feedback. The follow-up includes giving rewards as well as competency development programs through training. These findings highlight the importance of structured academic supervision in promoting teacher professionalism and improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the management of academic quality improvement at SMP Negeri 1 Wiradesa, Pekalongan Regency. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include the principal, vice principal for curriculum affairs, teachers, administrative staff, school committee members, and parents. Data collection techniques involve interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the management of academic quality improvement includes: (1) planning, through identifying academic quality needs, analyzing problems, formulating goals and targets, and preparing policies and budgets; (2) organizing, through the formation of an academic quality team, clear task distribution, regular coordination, and the involvement of parents and the school committee; (3) implementation, through directing and organizing activities, motivating the team, and monitoring program implementation; and (4) supervision, through structured evaluations, the use of appropriate assessment instruments, and follow-up on evaluation results. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for other schools in developing sustainable strategies for improving academic quality.

Abstract

The improvement of the quality of SD Negeri 07 Purwoharjo cannot be separated from the principal's leadership in managing the school. This study aims to describe the implementation of the principal’s transformational leadership style in enhancing school quality, covering aspects of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual consideration. This research employed a qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source triangulation. The results of the study show: (1) Idealized influence is implemented through role modeling, transparency, fairness, care, communication of the vision and mission, and openness; (2) Inspirational motivation is realized through giving awards, fostering a familial atmosphere, listening to aspirations, and encouraging open communication and collaboration; (3) Intellectual stimulation is applied by promoting innovation, openness to new ideas, facilitating discussions, providing training, and supporting learning communities; (4) Individual consideration is carried out through personal attention and support, personal interactions, mentoring, and open communication with school members.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low levels of teacher professionalism, which can hinder the quality of education in primary schools. The research aims to describe in depth the role of the principal as a manager in enhancing teacher professionalism at SD Negeri 07 Bantarbolang. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that the principal actively plans, implements, and evaluates various programs to improve teacher professionalism. Specific strategies include academic supervision, internal training sessions, and the development of a collaborative work culture focused on strengthening teacher competencies. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and methods, as well as member checks to enhance credibility. The study concludes that effective managerial leadership by the principal plays a significant role in improving teacher professionalism, thereby contributing positively to the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This research focuses on the implementation of ice breaking aided by the song "Disini Teman Disana Teman" to enhance learning interest among 2nd-grade students at SDN Jatingaleh 01. This study was conducted with the aim of implementing ice breaking using the song "Disini Teman Disana Teman" to enhance the learning interest of second-grade students at SD Negeri Jatingaleh 01. The research aimed to explore the implementation of ice breaking supported by the song "Disini Teman Disana Teman" to boost learning interest among second-grade students at SDN Jatingaleh 01. This qualitative research was carried out at one elementary school in Semarang, namely SD Negeri Jatingaleh 01. The subjects were second-grade students at SD Negeri Jatingaleh 01. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The researcher analyzed the data using descriptive data analysis. The results indicate that the implementation of ice breaking has been conducted at SD Negeri Jatingaleh 01. Based on the research findings, it is evident that ice breaking has had a positive impact on children in their learning process. This is observed through several aspects: 1) Ice breaking helps build self-confidence, strengthens relationships among students, reduces awkwardness, and fosters a positive environment for further learning or collaboration. 2) Ice breaking alleviates boredom. 3) It engages the interest of second-grade students at SD Negeri Jatingaleh 01. 4) It enhances the effectiveness of learning. Ice breaking, facilitated by the song "Disini Teman Disana Teman," is conducted at the beginning of lessons to create an enjoyable learning atmosphere and foster camaraderie among students. The implementation of ice breaking has been perceived positively by the students.

Abstract

Mutu pendidikan merupakan salah satu indikator utama dalam meningkatkan daya saing sekolah, terutama di era globalisasi yang semakin kompetitif. Dalam konteks ini, filantropi pendidikan menjadi strategi yang efektif untuk mendukung peningkatan mutu sekolah, terutama dalam hal penyediaan sumber daya, pengembangan program pendidikan, dan peningkatan kesejahteraan siswa serta tenaga pendidik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis manajemen filantropi dalam meningkatkan mutu sekolah di SMK Raden Umar Said Kudus dengan fokus pada empat aspek utama, yaitu perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan filantropi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam dengan pemangku kepentingan (Kepala Sekolah, guru, yayasan, filantropis, dan siswa), serta studi dokumentasi terkait program filantropi yang telah diterapkan di sekolah. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan secara sistematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan filantropi di SMK Raden Umar Said Kudus dilakukan melalui identifikasi kebutuhan pendidikan, penyusunan strategi penghimpunan dana, serta kolaborasi dengan berbagai pihak, termasuk yayasan, dunia industri, alumni, dan masyarakat. Dalam tahap pengorganisasian, sekolah membentuk tim khusus yang bertanggung jawab terhadap pengelolaan dana dan sumber daya filantropi untuk memastikan efektivitas program yang dijalankan. Pelaksanaan filantropi di sekolah ini mencakup berbagai program, seperti pemberian beasiswa bagi siswa yang berprestasi, pengadaan fasilitas pendidikan, serta pengembangan kurikulum berbasis kebutuhan industri. Adapun pengawasan terhadap filantropi dilakukan melalui sistem monitoring dan evaluasi yang berkelanjutan guna memastikan transparansi dan akuntabilitas dalam pengelolaan dana serta dampak positif terhadap mutu pendidikan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa manajemen filantropi yang baik berperan signifikan dalam meningkatkan mutu sekolah melalui dukungan finansial, fasilitas, serta pengembangan sumber daya manusia. Keberhasilan implementasi filantropi di SMK Raden Umar Said Kudus tidak hanya bergantung pada strategi penghimpunan dana, tetapi juga pada efektivitas pengelolaan dan keterlibatan berbagai pemangku kepentingan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya sistem pengelolaan filantropi yang lebih terstruktur, peningkatan sinergi dengan dunia industri, serta optimalisasi teknologi dalam penggalangan dana untuk menjamin keberlanjutan program filantropi di sekolah.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of principal leadership and teacher professional competence on the quality of public elementary schools in Sumber District, Rembang Regency. Using a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design, data were collected through validated questionnaires from 147 elementary school teachers selected via proportional random sampling from a population of 233 teachers across 25 schools. Data analysis employed SPSS 25 for Windows, including Pearson correlation, simple and multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²), all preceded by assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity). The results show that both principal leadership and teacher professional competence are significantly and strongly correlated with school quality (r = 0.623 and r = 0.606, respectively). Principal leadership explains 38.8% of the variation in school quality, while teacher professional competence contributes 36.7%. Combined, both variables account for 48.3% of the variance. The regression model confirms that improvements in both leadership and professional competence positively and significantly affect school quality. These findings highlight the essential role of effective leadership and teacher competence in enhancing educational outcomes. Therefore, systematic capacity-building for school leaders and continuous professional development for teachers are crucial strategies. This research contributes to empirical understanding and offers practical insights for policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders in formulating targeted interventions to improve school quality in primary education settings.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the principal’s role in developing of teacher’s digital teaching journal by using the AppSheet platform at SMP Negeri 8 Batang, in response to the demands of educational digital transformation. The focus of the study covers four managerial functions of the principal: planning, organizing, actuating, and evaluating. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed to explore data in depth through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the principal, the curriculum coordinator, and teachers selected to use purposive and snowball sampling. Data were analyzed by using the Miles and Huberman model through the processes of data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the principal plays a strategic role in formulating digitalization policies, forming a development team, allocating tasks based on the competencies, motivating teachers, providing facilities, facilitating training, and innovation. In addition, the principal actively monitors, evaluates, and provides data-driven feedback to enhance system effectiveness. The implementation of AppSheet has proven to accelerate lesson documentation, improve data accuracy, and facilitate real-time supervision, although challenges remain in teachers’ digital literacy and infrastructure limitations. The study concludes that the success of developing a digital teaching journal is determined not only by technology but also by visionary and adaptive school leadership. These findings contribute to strengthening the theory of digital leadership in education and serve as a practical reference for other schools adopting similar innovations.

Abstract

Melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat bagi tenaga pendidik adalah salah satu upaya untuk melaksanakan salah satu Tridarma perguruan tinggi yaitu Pengabdian. Kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah suatu upaya Universitas PGRI Semarang, agar supaya bisa memberikan sumbangsih ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi kepada masyarakat. Berkaitan dengan tersebut, kami Tim dari S2 Manajemen Pendidikan/Pendidikan Dasar Program Pascasarjana mengajukan usulan kegiatan Pengabdian bagi guru SD kelas IV, V, VI se Kecamatan Kaloran Temanggung. Tujuan Pengabdian ini adalah memberikan pelatihan bagi guru SD kelas IV agar mempunyai kemampuan untuk mengembangan bahan ajar berbasis CRT dan melaksanakan pembelajaran dengan e-modul yang telah dibuat karena siswa SD sekolah masih memerlukan pembelajaran yang menarik dan hal-hal yang konkrit. Dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian ini, maka guru SD mempunyai dan dapat memahami tentang penggunaan bahan ajar digital berbasis CRT secara daring maupun luring dapat berjalan dengan baik dan lancar. Dengan menerapkan bahan ajar digital berbasis CRT, maka memberikan peluang bagi anak-anak untuk dapat bermain sambil belajar. Target luaran yang diharapkan dari kegitan ini adalah (1) guru SD dapat mengembangkan bahan ajar digital berbasis CRT yang menyajikan gabungan dua unsur atau lebih media yang terdiri dari teks, image, animasi, audio dan video secara terintegrasi dan (2) pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan guru dengan bahan ajar digital dapat meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran yang bervariatif, menarik dan lebih  maksimal.
