Abstract

This study analyzes Sayyid Qutb’s interpretation of Surah An-Nisa: 94 in Fi Zhilal Al-Qur’an, focusing on the concept of jihad he presents. Surah An-Nisa: 94 emphasizes the principle of caution in warfare and the importance of justice and morality in human relations. Sayyid Qutb interprets this verse by highlighting that jihad is not limited to physical warfare, but also a struggle to uphold justice and moral values in social life. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with textual and thematic analysis to explore the meaning of jihad in Qutb’s contextual perspective. The findings show that Qutb views jihad as an ethical struggle, not mere violence. Qutb’s thinking offers a new perspective on jihad that is more moderate and relevant to the current social-religious challenges, emphasizing the principles of justice, morality, and humanity in the struggle for Islam.

Abstract

This paper discusses the phenomenon of a self-value crisis in the context of modern materialism, with a focus on the Prophet Muhammad’s ḥadīth concerning ‘abd al-dīnār (the slave of money). The study integrates a ḥadīth-based approach with contemporary social philosophy to understand the impact of monetary domination on individual identity and morality. The findings reveal that the ḥadīth offers a profound critique of material enslavement, while social philosophy highlights the structural mechanisms that reinforce consumerist culture. Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji ekosistem laut sebagai manifestasi kekuasaan Allah dengan pendekatan tafsir ilmi terhadap ayat-ayat kauniyah dalam Al-Qur’an. Laut, sebagai komponen vital bagi kehidupan, menyimpan keanekaragaman hayati yang sangat kaya, khususnya di Indonesia, yang diakui sebagai pusat keanekaragaman laut global. Melalui analisis kualitatif dan studi pustaka, penelitian ini menghubungkan penafsiran Al-Qur’an dengan data ilmiah terkini mengenai ekosistem laut. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa fenomena alam, seperti pertemuan dua laut yang tidak bercampur dan siklus pasang surut, mencerminkan keteraturan dan kebijaksanaan Tuhan. Pendekatan tafsir ilmi diharapkan dapat memperkaya pemahaman umat Islam tentang keterkaitan antara wahyu dan sains, serta mendorong kesadaran ekologis dalam menjaga kelestarian lingkungan laut. Namun, penelitian ini juga mengingatkan akan tantangan dalam penafsiran ilmiah yang perlu dihadapi dengan hati-hati untuk menjaga akurasi dan relevansi. Dengan demikian, kolaborasi antara ahli tafsir dan ilmuwan sangat penting untuk menggali hikmah yang terkandung dalam ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

In this article, the ontological, epistemological, and axiological studies of jihad in the philosophy of science are used to analyze the idea of jihad. From an ontological perspective, jihad is seen as a central idea in Islamic doctrine, which includes not only military conflict but also spiritual, moral, and social aspects. From an epistemological perspective, the meaning of jihad comes from reliable Islamic sources such as the Qur'an and hadith; however, in order to avoid being trapped in literal and extreme interpretations, it must be interpreted contextually using the maqashid sharia approach. On the other hand, jihad is studied from the perspective of values and goals in the axiological dimension, namely as a valiant effort to maintain humanity, justice, and a peaceful and inclusive society. This study shows how important it is to have a deep understanding of jihad in modern times to combat extremism, foster social cohesion, and give people more positive power. Therefore, it is necessary to redefine jihad based on current events while maintaining the core of the admirable principles of Islam.

Abstract

Studi ini mengkaji pembaharuan politik Islam di Indonesia dengan fokus pada relevansi pemikiran Nurcholish Madjid dan Abdurrahman Wahid. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain historis-komparatif, penelitian ini menganalisis konvergensi dan divergensi pemikiran kedua tokoh intelektual Muslim yang berpengaruh tersebut dalam konteks sosial-politik Indonesia dari masa Orde Baru hingga era Reformasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun berangkat dari latar belakang intelektual yang berbeda Nurcholish Madjid dengan tradisi modernisme dan Abdurrahman Wahid dengan tradisi pesantren kedua tokoh ini mencapai titik temu paradigmatik dalam beberapa aspek fundamental, yakni: desakralisasi politik Islam, reinterpretasi tradisi Islam untuk modernitas, kompatibilitas Islam dengan demokrasi dan hak asasi manusia, serta pluralisme sebagai nilai esensial. Perbedaan signifikan terdapat dalam pendekatan dan strategi perubahan: Madjid lebih tekstual-doktrinal dengan preferensi pada pembaharuan kultural, sementara Wahid lebih kontekstual-praksis dengan keterlibatan langsung dalam aktivisme politik. Kontribusi utama penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi bagaimana dialektika pemikiran kedua tokoh telah membentuk diskursus politik Islam moderat di Indonesia, serta menawarkan kerangka konseptual untuk menghadapi tantangan kontemporer seperti kebangkitan konservatisme, populisme berbasis identitas keagamaan, dan pengaruh Islam transnasional. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa sintesis kreatif antara elaborasi doktrinal Madjid dan kepekaan kontekstual Wahid dapat menghasilkan kerangka pemikiran yang lebih komprehensif untuk mengembangkan politik Islam yang demokratis, pluralis, dan berkeadilan di Indonesia kontemporer.

Abstract

The study of philosophy of science in the context of hadith science through epistemology, ontology, and axiology approaches. Hadith as the second source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an has an important role in shaping the law, ethics, and culture of Muslims. Using the literature study method, this article explores how philosophy of science can be used to understand the basis of knowledge (epistemology), the essence of the existence of hadith (ontology), and the value and benefits of its application in life (axiology). This research finds that the philosophy of science approach helps to strengthen the validity, depth, and relevance of hadith studies in the contemporary era, while affirming the importance of Islamic values in the development of science. Thus, this article contributes to the integration between philosophy and Islamic studies in enriching the rational and scientific understanding of hadith.

Abstract

One of them is spreading hoaxes, a major challenge that arises in the current technological era that threatens social, political, and religious structures. The purpose of this article is to thoroughly examine the ethical principles of information delivery based on the hadiths taught by the Prophet Muhammad, as well as their relationship to efforts to combat hoaxes in society. The method used in this study is qualitative using a literature research methodology on true hadiths related to honesty, certainty of information (tabayyun), prohibit spreading false information, and the importance of communication intentions. Hadith, according to the research, the Prophet has strong moral values in changing responsive communication behavior. The ethical values contained in the hadith can help build public awareness to prevent hoaxes and build a healthy information culture in the modern era. This is because the hadith can serve as a normative foundation to build public awareness not to easily believe and spread false information.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the practice of artisanal mining of Kalimaya stone in Lebak Regency through the tafsir ‘ilmi approach, which is a method of interpreting the Qur'an that integrates the text of revelation with contemporary scientific reality. This topic is essential considering that artisanal mining often takes place without an ethical or sustainability framework, and lacks a touch of religious values, even though the majority of Indonesian people are Muslim. The research uses an explorative qualitative method with an interdisciplinary approach, which combines thematic analysis of kauniyy?t verses, geological data on Kalimaya stone, and in-depth interviews with miners and local community leaders. The results show that tafsir ‘ilmi can form an Islamic-based ecological ethics framework that is applicable in mining practices. Through the reconciliation between the principles of tawhid, khilafah, amanah, and 'ad?lah, this research creates an Islamic Geoethics framework as an alternative ethical paradigm in mineral resource management. These findings not only enrich contemporary interpretive discourse but also offer practical contributions in the form of mining governance based on spiritual, social, and ecological sustainability values.

Abstract

This article explores the Qur'anic perspective on contemporary ecological issues, particularly in the context of the environmental crisis in Banten Province, Indonesia. Using a thematic and tafsir ilmi (interpretation) approach, this qualitative literature-based study analyzes Qur'anic verses related to nature and resources, such as QS. Al-A'raf: 56, QS. Al-Baqarah: 60, QS. An-Nahl: 10–11, and QS. Al-Anbiya: 30. This article integrates the values ​​of revelation with modern ecological thought to understand ecological responsibility in Islam and its relevance to local environmental challenges, including the clean water crisis caused by deforestation and pollution. This study also highlights local initiatives such as the Banten Bebersih movement as an example of the implementation of Qur'anic values ​​in environmental conservation efforts. The research findings show that the Qur'an not only prohibits environmental degradation and emphasizes the importance of balance (mizan), but also provides theological and ethical foundations for sustainable natural resource management and equitable distribution. This article concludes that the integration of Islamic studies and environmental science offers a comprehensive and relevant ecological paradigm to address environmental challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

Feminisme Islam merupakan sebuah gerakan yang bertujuan untuk memahami dan menginterpretasikan kembali ajaran-ajaran dalam Islam mengenai isu-isu gender, dengan fokus pada kesetaraan dan keadilan. Pembaharuan pemikiran tentang gender dalam perspektif ajaran Al-Qur'an bertujuan untuk menyingkap makna hakiki dari teks-teks suci yang seringkali diinterpretasikan secara patriarkal. Dalam konteks ini, Al-Qur'an dihadirkan sebagai sumber yang dapat memfasilitasi pemahaman lebih mendalam terkait posisi perempuan dalam Islam, yang tidak hanya terbatas pada aspek sosial dan hukum, tetapi juga spiritual. Melalui pendekatan tafsir kontekstual dan historis, pemikiran feminisme Islam berusaha untuk mengurai konsep kesetaraan gender dengan menekankan pada hak dan kewajiban yang adil, serta menyoroti kontribusi perempuan dalam kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, dan politik. Pembaharuan ini memberikan peluang untuk meredefinisi peran perempuan dalam masyarakat Muslim, menjadikan Al-Qur'an sebagai sumber yang tidak hanya relevan, tetapi juga progresif dalam menghadapi tantangan zaman. Sehingga, gerakan feminisme Islam berupaya menghapuskan ketidakadilan berbasis gender yang masih berlangsung, sembari menegaskan bahwa Islam sebagai agama rahmatan lil-‘alamin, membawa pesan kesetaraan bagi seluruh umat manusia, baik pria maupun wanita.
