Abstract

Introduction : This study aimed to evaluate the role of catechins isolates from GMB4 clone green to in the dynamics of endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM).Methods: 25 Wistar rats, were divided into 5 groups, including control group, type 2 diabetes mellitus group, treated daily administration of extracts of catechins isolate from GMB4 clones green tea at 20; 40; and 60 mg /kgBB doses for 6 weeks. EPCs analysis was performed by flow cytometry, levels of NO was performed using a spectrophotometer, serum levels of SDF-1a was performed with ELISA technique. Analysis of the expression of SDF-1 and CXCR-4 was performed using immunohistochemistry techniques. Results : The CD34+ and CD133+ count is lower in the DM group compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Of the three doses of catechins, only the highest dose were able to significantly increase CD34+ count compared to rats in the diabetes mellitus group (P < 0.05), Serum NO level is significantly higher in the DM the control group (P < 0.05). All three doses of catechins were able to significantly increase the expression of SDF-1a and CXCR4 in the aorta compared to the DM group or the control group (P < 0.05).Discussion :  It can be concluded that high dose cathecin isolate from GMB-4 clone green tea (60 mg/kgBB) may trigger the proliferation and maturation of EPCs in rats with type 2 DM in environment with high level of NO, involving the interacton between SDF-1a and CXCR4 in the aorta.

Abstract

Background: Medical waste is a waste product from a medical activity. Medical waste must be treated as soon as possible after it is generated. Improper processing of medical waste will increase the source of infection and can lead to the risk of nosocomial infection. Data from the sanitarian section of Gambiran Kediri Hospital said that in 1 day on average 190 kg of medical waste was produced, including injection equipment, ampoules, infusion bottles, infusion hoses, catheters, used injection bottles, gloves, masks, cotton wool, plaster, medicine packs. , gauze and bandages, produced by 20 wards. Methods: Community Service activities carried out are providing socialization to all employees and patients at the Gambiran Hospital, Kediri City in the form of counseling on how to process Medical Waste starting from the initial disposal site in the room to the TPS B3 section (B3 Waste Disposal Place using the leaflet method, and electronic media at the hospital. Results: The result of this community service activity was that problems related to medical waste processing were still mixed with medical waste and non-mediated waste in several rooms, the color of the plastic bags used did not match the SOP, the time used for distributing clean linen is not in accordance with the SOP. Conclusion: After community service was carried out at Gambiran Hospital, Kediri City, we encountered various problems including gaps between targets and achievements. Using the data we had obtained, we processed the data by determining priority problems based on USG ( Usgensi Seriousness Growth), based on the results of the problem priority analysis we determine the SWOT analysis, determine the intervention and then carry out the implementation according to the problems that are found correctly.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2), has caused a total of 1,531,005 people in Indonesia confirmed positive for COVID-19 and 42,000 people died. The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has made nurses stress as front-liner. This study aims to identify the description of stress in nurses. This study is a systematic literature review by identifying cross-sectional study, published in 2019-2021, in English and Indonesian, and full-text. The electronic database that used was Google Scholar with the keywords “Nurses” AND “Stress” AND “COVID-19”. The results obtained 10 articles that related to stress in nurses and factors that caused it. All of studies stated that nurses were stress from mild to severe. Demographic factors that caused stress include age, gender, education level, having children, working status, and years of services. Meanwhile, situational factors were the inconvenience of continuous and strict use a personal protective equipment, being in isolation room, lack of understanding in treating COVID-19 patients, fear of being infected and transmitting the virus to family, and homesickness. An adaptive coping mechanism is needed to reduce stress levels for nurses as the front line in the COVID-19 pandemic.
