Abstract

IInformation on land cover change is very important for various purposes, including the monitoring of changes for environmental sustainability. The objective of this study is to create a monitoring model of land cover change for the indication of devegetation and revegetation usingdata fromSentinel-2 from 2017 to 2018 of the Brantas watershed. This is one of the priority watersheds in Indonesia, so it is necessary to observe changes in its environment, including land cover change. Such change can be detected using remote sensing data. The method used is a hybrid between Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI) and Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR) which aims to detect land changes with a focus on devegetationand revegetation by determining the threshold value for vegetation index (ΔNDVI) and open land index (ΔNBR).The study found that the best thresholds to detect revegetation were ΔNDVI > 0.0309 and ΔNBR < 0.0176 and to detect devegetation ΔNDVI < -0.0206 and ΔNBR > 0.0314.It is concluded that Sentinel-2 data can be used to monitor land changes indicating devegetation and revegetation with established NDVI and NBR threshold conditions.

Abstract

The Assessment of the physical character of a city is considered relatively easier than the social-cultural aspects. It is important to recognize the type of city form and to predict the behavior of people in the city and its surrounding. Due to those characteristics, the study of the pattern of physical development of the city is required. The objective of research is to analyze the change of spatial pattern of the city due to the city growing by remote sensing. The multitemporal data of Landsat 5/7/8 year 2000, 2006 and 2015 in Jabodetabek area were used. The classification technique had been done and it produced five classes of land uses. Those are water, built-up area, vegetation, other land use and no data. The results of the analysis in Jabodetabek area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi) show that there was land use changes from vegetation and other land use area to built-up area with an average accuracy of 78% in each year. The pattern of physical development of the city looks linear from year 2000 until year 2006, which is confirmed as concentric pattern from year 2006 to 2015. Based on those analysis, it confirmed that the city development in Jakarta as the center was influenced by the spatial land development of the surrounding cities of Depok, Bogor, Bekasi and Tangerang. The pattern of spatial development from 2000 to 2006 in Bogor, Bekasi and Depok areas is Linear pattern, whereas from 2006 - 2015 the pattern of spatial development shows Propagation Concentric pattern. For Tangerang Region in 2000-2015 its development is patterned Propagation Concentric.

Abstract

This study examines the persistence of early marriage as a socio-religious tradition in Betek Village, Krucil District, Probolinggo Regency, Indonesia. Despite the enactment of Law No. 16 of 2019, which sets the minimum marriage age at 19, early marriage continues to be practiced as part of local cultural identity. Employing a qualitative field research approach with a socio-legal perspective, this study explores how Islamic legal norms intersect with local customs and socio-economic realities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving religious leaders, community elders, young couples, and local authorities. The findings reveal that early marriage is perceived by villagers as a moral and social obligation to preserve family honor and prevent social deviance. However, the practice often leads to economic vulnerability, limited educational attainment, and psychological strain among young couples. From the perspective of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, early marriage tends to generate more harm than benefit, undermining the principles of welfare, intellect, and lineage protection. The study concludes that a contextual reinterpretation of Islamic law, combined with education and community engagement, is essential to transform early marriage traditions toward more just and welfare-oriented practices in accordance with Islamic family ideals.

Abstract

This research examines the relationship between environmental reporting costs, renewable energy adoption costs, waste minimization costs, and environmental performance in Indonesian manufacturing companies. Using a quantitative methodology with multiple linear regression analysis on panel data from 45 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2020–2024 period, this study investigates how these three environmental cost dimensions affect overall environmental performance outcomes. The regression analysis results show that environmental reporting costs (β = 0.412, p < 0.05) and waste minimization costs (β = 0.385, p < 0.05) have a statistically significant positive relationship with environmental performance, while renewable energy adoption costs (β = 0.156, p > 0.05) show a positive but insignificant relationship. The model explains approximately 78.4% of the variance in environmental performance (Adjusted R² = 0.784), with an F-statistic of 34.89 (p < 0.001), indicating that these cost variables collectively represent substantial drivers of environmental performance. This research contributes to understanding how strategic environmental investments lead to measurable environmental outcomes, particularly relevant for developing countries like Indonesia pursuing sustainable industrial development goals.

Abstract

This study explores how the kiai at Pondok Pesantren Modern Al-Mashduqiah integrates spiritual leadership with strategic management practices to maintain pesantren identity while adapting to modernization and digital transformation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 12 key informants, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings highlight four key themes: first, the kiai upholds organizational culture through sufistic values like sincerity and discipline; second, strategic planning is participatory, involving senior teachers and administrative staff; third, selective adoption of digital innovations, such as e-learning modules and online monitoring, enhances efficiency while preserving cultural authenticity; and fourth, the kiai's dual role as both spiritual guide and manager fosters an adaptive, cohesive organizational climate. The study offers insights into value-based strategic leadership in Islamic education and provides practical recommendations for improving governance and digital integration in pesantren.

Abstract

Lone wolf terrorism is terrorism committed by individuals without direct affiliation with large terrorist organizations. This phenomenon is increasingly worrying in various countries, including Indonesia. Attacks by self-radicalized individuals have a different pattern from conventional terrorism, as the perpetrators act alone and are difficult to detect by security forces. In Indonesia, the increase in Lone Wolf terrorism cases in recent years is due to the easy access to the internet and social media that spread radicalism. The city of Surabaya came under scrutiny after the terrorist attacks in May 2018, where several acts were linked to large networks such as Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD). The government and local communities, such as the Community of Peace Fighters, have tried to prevent radicalization through deradicalization programs and monitoring of vulnerable individuals. However, the individualistic and disorganized nature of lone wolf terrorism makes it difficult to anticipate. This research aims to identify patterns of radicalization that can give rise to lone terrorists, who are not directly affiliated with terrorist groups. The method used is interdisciplinary legal research with a qualitative approach, which was carried out at the Surabaya Peace Fighters Community, which is under the guidance of the Special Da'wah Institute (LDK) of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PWM) of East Java. The results of this study show that there are so many external factors that make a person radicalized. One of them is ideological factors, social conditions, structural injustices that encourage them to rebel, and the most powerful is the understanding that radical actions are justified by religious teachings (Islam).

Abstract

This study analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of Government Regulation No. 71 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Electronic Systems and Transactions (PSTE) in combating ransomware crimes in Indonesia. The ever-evolving ransomware threat has triggered the need for regulations capable of adaptively responding to the dynamics of cybercrime. This study uses a normative juridical method with a qualitative approach to examine the urgency of implementation and obstacles in its implementation. The study results indicate that PP No. 71 of 2019 still faces various challenges, such as weak technical understanding, minimal coordination between agencies, limited legal sanctions, and a lack of technical guidance for prevention and mitigation. This study's recommendations include the development of detailed technical guidelines, strengthening the role of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), digital security education, and harmonization with the Personal Data Protection Law. A comprehensive and collaborative legal strategy is needed to build national cyber resilience in the face of ransomware threats.

Abstract

Law enforcement against domestic violence (DV) is a crucial aspect in ensuring protection for victims. In the Indonesian legal system, law enforcement is supported by four main pillars of law enforcement: the Police, the Prosecutor's Office, the Courts, and Advocates. These four pillars play a crucial role in providing legal protection for victims of domestic violence in accordance with Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (UU-PKDRT). This study employed a normative juridical method with a statute approach and a review of other relevant literature. The results indicate that although regulations explicitly regulate victim protection, implementation in the field still faces various obstacles, such as a lack of understanding of gender perspectives among law enforcement officials, limited access to legal assistance by victims, and a lack of coordination between relevant institutions. Furthermore, the role of the four pillars of law enforcement in addressing domestic violence still requires strengthening, both in terms of regulations, enforcement mechanisms, and synergy between institutions. This study concludes that the effectiveness of legal protection for victims of domestic violence depends heavily on optimizing the role of the four pillars of law enforcement and improving the implementation of existing policies. Reform efforts are needed in the form of increasing the capacity of legal officials, wider outreach regarding victims' rights, and strengthening sector coordination so that legal protection can run more optimally.

Abstract

The implementation of religious moderation education based on the internalization of Islamic values at Madrasah Aliyah Darul Falah Bondowoso aims to strengthen students’ character through Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, display, and verification techniques. The findings show that learning strategies supported by active teacher involvement and pesantren culture effectively instill the values of tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), and i‘tidal (justice). Internalization occurs through formal instruction, habituation, social interaction, and teachers’ role modeling. PAI functions as a comprehensive medium for developing moderate and inclusive religious understanding. Its contribution is reflected in increased social tolerance, mutual respect, and the creation of a harmonious, conducive madrasa and pesantren environment that supports balanced character development.
