Abstract

This study aims to examine the differences in effectiveness between the Creative Problem Solving learning model and the expository learning model in improving students' creative thinking skills and communication skills in Geography subjects for class X IPS at SMA Negeri 1 Kartasura in the 2021/2022 academic year. The method used is a quasi-experiment with data analysis techniques including normality tests, variance homogeneity tests, Mann-Whitney tests, and N-Gain Score calculations to determine the level of effectiveness of each model. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the application of the Creative Problem Solving model was more effective in improving students' creative thinking skills than the expository model, as evidenced by the results of the Mann-Whitney test.

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) identify earthquake vulnerability in Bandung City based on 4 factors—environmental, physical, economical, and social—using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP); 2) understand which factor gives the biggest impact toward earthquake vulnerability of Bandung City; and 3) know Bandung City’s alertness toward earthquake. The population of this research was Bandung City’s administrative area with sub-district as its smallest analysis unit. Purposive sampling is used to collect sample. The data were collected from notes and maps, such as land use, slope, lithology, building density, etc. Interview also used to collect data for weighting using AHP. Data’s validity tested using triangulation. AHP’s used as data’s analysis technique. The result showed that: 1) The Earthquake Vulnerability in Bandung City based on physical, environmental, social, and economical factors were very high, high, and medium; 2) Physical factor, which is building density, gave the most impact to earthquake vulnerability in Bandung City; 3) Existing non-structural mitigation was deemed appropriate to earthquake vulnerability in Bandung City, but structural mitigation was not. Further structural review is needed.

Abstract

GeoCapabilities aims to encourage the proposition of geography as a strong disciplinary knowledge and the role of teachers as the key in bringing knowledge to learners. This study aimed to determine the level of understanding of GeoCapabilities of geography teachers in high schools in Karanganyar Regency. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with 28 respondents. The type of research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, test questions, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using Interactive Model and Percentage. GeoCapabilities knowledge test results on each indicator obtained; 1. Geography imagination (26.16%), 2. Empathy (22.5%), 3. Integrative thinking (23.6%), 4. Spatial thinking (20.5%), 5. Exploration (29.25%). Based on the GeoCapabilities test results, the average score obtained by geography teachers is 3.6, with a maximum score achievement percentage of 46.6%. If the knowledge test score is in the range > 36% - 52%, it is included in the "low" category. The findings in this study imply that the low knowledge of GeoCapabilities of geography teachers can hinder the success of improving the quality of geography education. Therefore, to create continuity, it is necessary to measure the competence of geography teachers to evaluate the training needed in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of Android-based E-GeA learning media in improving the critical thinking skills of grade X students of SMA Negeri Kebakkramat, Karanganyar. The E-GeA application for Electronic Geography Adventure is designed to support geography learning through interactive features, such as learning videos, materials, animations, and pre-test and posttest-based exams. The study used an experimental and purposive sampling technique on 36 students in grades X-5. The data were analyzed using normality, n-gain, and t-test tests. The results showed that the t-test results showed a significant difference between the pre-test 30 and post-test 86 scores, with 94% of students achieving KKM scores. This study proves that E-GeA learning media improves students' critical thinking skills. These findings provide recommendations for integrating technology in geography learning to support improving the quality of education and skills in the 21st century.
