Abstract

Psychological well-being in middle-aged women is an important aspect influenced by various psychological factors, including resilience, emotion regulation, and self-efficacy. This study aims to identify and analyze the contribution of these three variables to the psychological well-being of middle-aged women in Medan City. Using a quantitative ex post facto design, the study involved 107 respondents aged 40-64 years who are members of the Persaudaraan Dharma Wanita community. Data were collected through valid and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression after meeting the necessary assumptions. The results show that, partially, resilience and self-efficacy have a significant positive effect, while emotion regulation has a marginally significant effect on psychological well-being. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence psychological well-being, with an F value of 27.181 (p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.442 indicates that 44.2% of the variance in psychological well-being can be explained by these variables, while the remaining 55.8% is influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening resilience, managing emotions, and building self-confidence to maintain mental health in middle-aged women. This study provides a foundation for developing targeted psychological interventions to enhance psychological well-being in this population.

Abstract

This study investigates verbal bullying in elementary schools, which commonly occurs in the form of mockery, name-calling, and verbal abuse. This study aims to identify the causes and impacts of verbal bullying and offer a strategy for its prevention through the integration of mutual respect social skills in the learning process. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with interviews and observations at SDN 3 Kebon Padangan, the findings indicate that verbal bullying is mainly caused by students’ lack of empathy and social awareness. The school’s current efforts, such as involving teachers and parents in problem-solving, are still insufficient. Therefore, this study proposes the integration of mutual respect skills in classroom activities as a strategic solution to foster empathy, reduce bullying, and create a more harmonious school environment.

Abstract

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a significant mental health issue, particularly in Indonesia with its complex cultural diversity. This study aims to assess the validity of the Indonesian Version DSM-V PTSD scale using an Item Response Theory (IRT) approach through the Rasch model. The research method involved 70 respondents who experienced trauma, measured using a Likert scale consisting of 20 items. Data were collected from an online questionnaire and analysed using the Rasch Polytomous model. The results indicate that the PTSD scale has good reliability, with a Person Reliability value of 0.865. The analysis revealed that several items have varying difficulty levels, suggesting the need for adjustments to reflect local experiences. The Partial Credit Model (PCM) was found to be more suitable than the Rating Scale Model (RSM), with likelihood ratio test results showing significant differences (χ² = 155, p < .001). This study provides new insights into the importance of validating psychological measurement tools in diverse cultural contexts and contributes to the development of better mental health policies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of AR-based traditional Balinese games  as instructional tools for enhancing learning motivation and biomotor skills among elementary school students. Utilizing a pretest-posttest control group experimental design, 60 fifth-grade students were randomly allocated into experimental and control cohorts. The experimental group engaged in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) sessions incorporating AR-based traditional Balinese games, while the control group received conventional PJOK instruction. Data were collected via validated learning motivation questionnaires and standardized biomotor skill assessments, with multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) employed for statistical analysis. Results demonstrated that the experimental group achieved a 25.3% increase in learning motivation and a 22.4% improvement in biomotor skills, both of which were statistically significant (p < 0.01) compared to the control group. These outcomes indicate that AR-based traditional Balinese games outperform conventional pedagogical methods in simultaneously enhancing cognitive engagement and physical competency. The study confirms the transformative potential of AR technology in primary education, particularly when aligned with culturally rooted content, to optimize holistic student development.

Abstract

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health issues that is commonly experienced by children and adolescents as a result of traumatic events such as natural disasters, social conflicts, and violence. The high prevalence of PTSD among children and adolescents requires further intervention due to the risk of long-term psychological impacts. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Sand Tray Therapy in reducing PTSD symptoms and improving well-being in children and adolescents. The study uses an A-B-A-B experimental design, which is a variation of the single subject design (SSD), involving five subjects who were selected through a screening process and considered as representative of a population with PTSD and low psychological well-being. The research instruments used are the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-5) and Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scales (PWB). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to compare PTSD and well-being scores between phases, and Cohen's d was used to measure the effect size of changes between phases. The results of this study indicate that sand tray therapy has a clinically significant positive effect in reducing PTSD symptoms and improving psychological well-being. Thus, this method can be considered an alternative psychological intervention for children and adolescents who suffer from PTSD and require an improvement in psychological well-being.
