Abstract

The Green Lawu Forest Farmers Group (KTH) is located in Berjo Village, Ngargoyoso District, Karanganyar Regency. KTH Green Lawu is a group whose members live in the area around the Mangkunagoro I Karanganyar Grand Forest Park. This group cultivates and sells orchids to improve the economy of its members. However, the activities of KTH Green Lawu still face various obstacles in its development, including the low knowledge of members regarding financial management, and not yet having the capacity to expand the market. The community service activity carried out by the RG Natural Resources Economics UNS, namely "Training to Improve Financial Literacy and Digitalization of Marketing in the Green Lawu Forest Farmers Group (KTH) Karanganyar Regency", is expected to be able to overcome these problems. This activity was carried out on June 8, 2024, where previously the community service team had carried out initial coordination with partners and technical preparation for the service. The materials provided in this activity were financial bookkeeping and online marketing. The community service activities that have been carried out are expected to be able to increase the capacity of KTH Green Lawu members regarding financial administration and online marketing so that in the future KTH Green Lawu can become more advanced.

Abstract

Scabies is a disease caused by mites/lice of the Sarcoptes Scabiei hominis variety. Scabies is easily spread either directly by sufferers or indirectly through clothes, bed sheets, towels. Islamic boarding schools are one of the places at risk of transmitting scabies. This study aims to analyze the influence of the level of knowledge and clean and healthy living behavior on the incidence of scabies at the Al-Ibtikary Islamic Boarding School Karangan Trenggalek.This research design uses correlative descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The total sample was 86 respondents using simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. The independent variables are the level of knowledge and clean and healthy living behavior. The dependent variable is the incidence of scabies. The research results showed that out of a total of 86 respondents, 38 respondents (44.2%) were known to have a sufficient level of knowledge. Respondents who had sufficient clean and healthy living behavior were 48 respondents (55.8%). Respondents with scabies incidents were 54 respondents (62.8%).Based on the results of the logistic regression test, it shows the level of knowledge with a P value of 0.001 (< 0.05) and clean and healthy living behavior with a P value of 0.000 (< 0.05), meaning that there is an influence of the level of knowledge and clean and healthy living behavior on the incidence of scabies. at the Al-Ibtikary Karangan Trenggalek Islamic Boarding School.In this study, clean and healthy living behavior was the most dominant factor influencing the incidence of scabies. The better the clean and healthy living behavior of a student, the more indirectly it can prevent the incidence of scabies. Apart from that, it will also have a good impact on the order of clean and healthy living behavior in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Hypertension in the elderly increases the risk of serious complications. Tera exercise and yoga exercise are non-pharmacological interventions that can help lower blood pressure. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Tera exercise and yoga exercise in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive elderly at Panti Nursing Home Santo Yoseph, Kediri City. This quantitative study employed a two-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 30 elderly individuals with hypertension at Panti Wredha Santo Yoseph, Kediri City, were divided into two groups: 15 participants in the Tera group and 15 participants in the Yoga group. The intervention was conducted over four sessions within one month, with a frequency of once per week. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney test. The study results showed that before the intervention, 8 participants (53.3%) in tera exercise and 7 participants (46.7%) in yoga exercise had blood pressure in the mild hypertension category. After the intervention, 6 participants (40%) in both types of exercise experienced a decrease in blood pressure to the normal category. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in blood pressure before and after the intervention in the Tera Gymnastics group, with a p-value of 0.001 for systolic and 0.001 for diastolic blood pressure. Similarly, in the Yoga Exercise group, significant differences were observed, with a p-value of 0.011 for systolic pressure and 0.012 for diastolic pressure, indicating that Yoga Exercise effectively reduced blood pressure in hypertensive elderly individuals. The Mann-Whitney test results indicated that the post-test systolic blood pressure significance value between the Tera Exercise and Yoga Exercise groups was 0.771, while the post-test diastolic blood pressure significance value was 0.983 (p > 0.05). These findings suggest no significant difference between the two groups in lowering blood pressure. There is no significant difference in the effectiveness of Tera Exercise and Yoga Exercise in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive elderly individuals at Panti Werdha Santo Yoseph, Kediri City.

Abstract

The most common problem encountered in the use of well water is the presence of metal contaminants, particularly iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). One alternative solution is the use of filtration with zeolite and activated carbon. This research aims to improve the quality of well water by reducing Fe, Mn, and turbidity levels using filtration technology. The treatment reactor consists of two reactors with the difference between reactors 1 and 2 lies in the type of media used. Reactor 1 uses zeolite media, and reactor 2 uses activated carbon. The filtration column used is a PVC pipe with a diameter of 10 cm and a length of 1 m. The independent variable in this study is the composition of the filtration media, consisting of a combination of quartz sand-zeolite and quartz sand-activated carbon. The research findings show that in reactor 1, the decrease in Fe levels from the first day to the third day is 0.4975 mg/L, 0.6175 mg/L, and 0.605 mg/L, whereas in reactor 2, it is 0.9175 mg/L, 0.7725 mg/L, and 0.685 mg/L. The decrease in Mn levels in reactor 1 over three consecutive days is 0.08 mg/L, 0.07 mg/L, and 0.05 mg/L, while in reactor 2, it is 0.12 mg/L, 0.09 mg/L, and 0.06 mg/L. The decrease in turbidity levels in reactor 1 consecutively is 20.825 NTU, 13.305 NTU, and 11.09 NTU, while in reactor 2, it is 21.4775 NTU, 18.36 NTU, and 12.23 NTU. These filtration results have met the clean water quality standards according to PERMENKES No. 32 of 2017.

Abstract

aboratory wastewater is produced through laboratory activities. Laboratory wastewater can have a large impact on the environment if it is not processed before being discharged into the water body. Laboratory waste treatment can be carried out using suspended growth technology to reduce pollutant loads, especially Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). Aims: This study aims to treat wastewater produced by the activity of laboratory using suspended growth technology. Methodology and Results: This research was conducted by finding the most efficient rotor rotation in degrading the load of BOD5 and COD pollutants. The reactor used is a Mixed Flow Reactor type reactor made of acrylic material with a thickness of 5.5 mm. The reactor is arranged into three series with the same sampling time and different rotor turns that expressed in rotors per minute (rpm). The reactor series consists of Reactor I with 50 rpm rotor rotation speed, 100 rpm Reactor II and 150 rpm Reactor III. Processing is carried out using 8 hours of detention time and variation of sampling time every 8 hours. Conclusion, significant and impact study: From the results of the study obtained the highest level of effectiveness of reducing pollutant load on processing using 150 rpm rotor rotation and 40 hours sampling time which is 94.6% for BOD5 parameters and 94.4% for COD parameters.

Abstract

Untreated domestic wastewater can pollute the aquatic ecosystem. Vermifilter integrated with the Canna indica plant is one of the technological alternatives that can be used to treat domestic wastewater. One of affecting the performance of vermifilters is the vermibed media. Aim: This study aims to examine the effect of vermibed material on the concentration of COD, TP, DO, and the pH value of domestic wastewater treated with vermifilter combined with Canna indica plants. Methodology and Results: The research was conducted on a laboratory scale with a a continuous system using a plastic reactor dimension of 59 x 38 x 29 cm, which is filled with sand filter media, coconut fiber, gravel, and vermibed. The vermibed reactor consists of 4 reactors including reactor 1 (R1) vegetable vermibed, reactor 2 (R2) sawdust, reactor 3 (R3) banana peel, and reactor 4 (R4) cow dung. The results showed that  at the end of the research, the best performance is showed by reactor R2 that able to decrease COD 94.81%, TP 92.07%, DO increase 320.00%, pH 6.30±0.10.  Vermibed sawdust (R2) can lower COD, TP and raise DO higher to treat domestic wastewater by combining vermifilter with Canna indica plant.  Conclusion, significance, and impact study:  Vermifilter with Canna indica plant is an effective wastewater treatment in reducing COD, TP, increasing DO and pH value.   This treatment is easy processing of operation and maintenance, does not require large land, can be done on an individual scale, and is environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Pada tahun 2021, Bakauheni Harbour City (BHC) ditetapkan sebagai Proyek Strategis Nasional, kondisi kawasan berupa pemukiman jarang, ruang hijau, area wisata Siger, dan terjadi kemacetan pada hari puncak. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui pengaruh pembangunan BHC terhadap kinerja Jalan Utama Pelabuhan Bakauheni (JUT), Jalan tol trans Sumatera (JTT), Jalan lintas tengah (JLE), Jalan lintas timur (JLT), Jalan lingkungan permukiman (JLP), dan Jalan kawasan pelabuhan (JKP). Metode penelitian dengan pemodelan bangkitan tarikan BHC dan kinerja jalan JUT, JLT, JLE, JTT, JLP, JKP pada kondisi arus normal dan puncak, ditentukan pada sebelum pembangunan BHC (2021), persiapan (2022), semasa (2023), selesai (2043), fungsional (2047), ultimate/puncak (2073). Berdasarkan analisa diperoleh bangkitan tarikan BHC 17.470 smp/hari. Dengan variabel terikat Y (JUT) dan variabel bebas X1(JBHC), X2 (JTT), X3 (JLT), X4 (JLE), X5 (JKP), X6 (JLP), dengan metode analisa regresi, didapatkan korelasi dampak pembangunan BHC terhadap kinerja jalan sangat kuat (nilai pearson correlation = 0,954). Model regresi menghasilkan persamaan Y= 0,007 + 0,172X1 + 0,378X2 + 1,273X3 + 0,378X4 - 2,821X5 + 0,979X6 (kondisi arus normal), dan Y= 4,007+0,377X10,989X2+4,975X3+1,307X4-0,649X5-10,060X6 (kondisi arus puncak). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembangunan BHC berkonstribusi signifikan terhadap kinerja JUT sebesar 0,172 (normal) dan 0,377 (puncak) satuan ratio, sehingga meningkatkan tundaan dan kemacetan.

Abstract

Vermifilter is a greywater waste treatment by utilizing the symbiosis of earthworms with microbes. Vermifilter is more efficient, simple in design, and easy to maintain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vermibed material on the concentration of BOD5, NH3-N, and DO in greywater waste treatment using vermifilter. The study used four vermifilter reactors (VF) with filtration media for gravel, coconut fiber, rough sand, and vermibed. Reactor VF1 uses a vermibed mixture of mustard greens and cabbage, VF2 sawdust, VF3 banana stalk, and VF4 cow dung. This study provides results that VF1 removal BOD5 90%, NH3-N 98%, and increase DO 164%; FV2 removal BOD5 92%, NH3-N 98%, and increase DO 185%; FV3 removal BOD5 94.5% NH3-N 98.5%, and increased DO 156%; and FV4 decreased BOD5 93%, NH3-N 99%, and increased DO 270%. The media material had no significant effect on the concentration of BOD, NH3-N, and DO.

Abstract

Background: Dementia is a progressive cognitive disorder that impacts the quality of life of the elderly, causing decreased cognitive and social functions and increased dependency. Families play an important role in providing emotional, physical, social and economic support, but not all have sufficient understanding in caring for the elderly with dementia. Lack of family knowledge and skills in caring for the elderly with dementia can cause stress for caregivers and reduce the quality of life of the elderly themselves. The Alzi Surabaya Community acts as a forum for education and assistance for families to improve optimal care. This study aimed to analyze family support strategies in improving the quality of life of the elderly with dementia in the Alzi Surabaya community.Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Informants were selected through purposive sampling of seven families of caregivers of the elderly with dementia. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and documentation, analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation and drawing conclusions/verification. Data validity was tested by source triangulation.Results: The results of the study from seven respondents showed that family support plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life of the elderly with dementia. Emotional support in the form of good attention and communication improves the psychological well-being of the elderly. Physical support such as assistance in self-care and providing nutritious food, maintains the health of the elderly. Economic support ensures access to health services. In addition, family involvement in social activities also helps maintain the emotional stability of the elderly. Interaction with the Alzi Surabaya community helps families in communication strategies, managing behavioral changes and strengthening social support.Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the better the family support that has been given in caring for the elderly with dementia, the better their quality of life will be

Abstract

Kebutuhan sumber daya air akan terus meningkat seiring meningkatnya jumlah penduduk dan peningkatan kuantitas konsumsi air. Pemanfaatan kembali air bekas wudhu adalah bentuk konservasi melalui efisensi dan optimalisasi pemanfaatan sumber daya air.Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas air bekas wudhu untuk budidaya ikan nila. Penelitian dilakukan di Pondok Peasantren putra Darusy Syahadah Simo Boyolali Jawa Tengah dan laboratorium air Poltekes Kemenkes Yogyakarta. Penelitian munggunakan metode eksperimental didukung observasi lapangan. Parameter kulitas air meliputi suhu, COD, amonia bebas (NH3 -N), BOD5 ,pH, oksigen terlarut (DO) dan MPN Colifrom. Hasil analisis kualitas air yang digunakan untuk berwudhu memiliki suhu 27,5oC, COD <1,03 mg/L, amonia bebas (NH3 -N) 0,07 mg/L, BOD5 2,93 mg/L, pH 7,22, oksigen terlarut (DO) 5,69 mg/L dan MPN Colifrom< 1,8. Hasil analisis kualitas air bekas wudhu memiliki suhu 27,8oC, COD 29,03 mg/L, amonia bebas (NH3 -N) 0,19 mg/L, BOD5 38,48 mg/L, pH 6,37, oksigen terlarut (DO) 0,85 mg/L dan MPN Colifrom< 16 x 104 . Berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Nomor 82 Tahun 2001 Tentang Pengelolaan Kualitas Air dan Pengendalian Pencemaran Air keriteria air baku di Pondok Peasantren putra Darusy Syahadah sebelum digunakan berwudhu masuk dalam golongan air kelas II. Air kelas II peruntukannya digunakan untuk sarana rekreasi air, pembudidayaan ikan air tawar, peternakan dan irigasi. Setelah digunakan untuk berwudhu, terjadi penurunan kualitas air menjadi air kelas IV. Air kelas IV peruntukannya untuk irigasi dan peruntukan lain yang sesuai kriteria air tersebut. Baku mutu air yang direkomendasikan Balai Besar Budidaya Air Tawar tahun 2016 untuk budidaya ikan nila antara lain; suhu 25-30 oC 27,8oC, COD <12 mg/L, amonia bebas (NH3 -N) <1, pH 6,5-8,5, oksigen terlarut (DO) >5 mg/L. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, secara kulitas air bekas wudhu masih layak digunakan untuk budidaya ikan nila.
