Abstract

Expenditure on medicines is one of the largest components of healthcare costs in Indonesia. However, a proportion of medicines obtained by the community are not used to their full extent, either due to changes in therapy, side effects, non-compliance, or expiry. This phenomenon results in significant economic losses, with an average of 18-32% of the total value of medicines stored in households being unused or expired. Studies in several cities such as Yogyakarta, Kudus, and East Banjarmasin show that the economic value of unused medicines per household ranges from Rp3,348 to Rp13,698, and if extrapolated nationally, the potential loss could reach hundreds of millions of rupiah. In addition to wasting money, unused medicines also increase health risks and environmental pollution. Management efforts that have been made include public education through the DAGUSIBU programme, medicine take-back, as well as strengthening regulations and the role of pharmacists, but their implementation still faces challenges in coverage and effectiveness. Cross-sector collaboration is needed to strengthen education, improve the collection system of leftover medicines, and increase supervision of pharmaceutical waste disposal to reduce economic losses and improve public health.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the urgency of economic law in providing protection for the poor, abandoned children, and other vulnerable groups as mandated by the constitution, particularly Article 34 of the 1945 Constitution. Through a literature study approach, this research examines various regulations, policies and social protection programmes that have been implemented in Indonesia. The results show that economic law plays an important role in ensuring access to justice, social protection and equal opportunities for vulnerable groups. However, the implementation of economic law protection still faces various obstacles, such as budget constraints, the complexity of legal procedures, low legal literacy, and structural discrimination. This research recommends strengthening regulations, increasing the capacity of implementing agencies, synergising between agencies, and empowering vulnerable groups so that economic legal protection can run effectively and fairly as mandated by the constitution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the economic factors that influence the growth of the pharmaceutical industry and its impact on employment in Indonesia through a literature review study. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the strategic sectors that continues to grow in line with the increasing public need for health products and government policy support. The study results show that investment, government policies, exchange rate fluctuations, dependence on imported raw materials, and technological innovation are the main economic factors that influence the growth of the national pharmaceutical industry. The growth of this sector has a positive impact on labour absorption, both directly in production and indirectly through supporting sectors such as distribution and research. However, challenges related to the quality of human resources and raw material independence still need to be overcome so that the pharmaceutical industry can contribute more optimally to the economy and job creation in the future.

Abstract

The pharmaceutical industry is one of the strategic sectors in economic development and health in Indonesia. As the fourth largest contributor among non-oil and gas manufacturing industries, the pharmaceutical industry has contributed significantly to economic growth, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the sector's growth remained positive amid the national economic contraction. This contribution can be seen from the added value generated, increased investment, and job creation that continues to grow every year. In addition, the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia is also influenced by an increase in population, an increase in life expectancy, and changes in people's behaviour that are increasingly aware of the importance of health. In terms of public health, the pharmaceutical industry plays an important role in providing quality, safe, and affordable medicines that support wider access to health services, including in government priority programmes such as the National Health Insurance (JKN). The availability of quality pharmaceutical products is also a key element in supporting the prevention and control of various diseases, as well as improving the quality of life and life expectancy of the Indonesian population. Innovation and technological adaptation carried out by the national pharmaceutical industry have helped drive production efficiency, expand the domestic market, and strengthen competitiveness at the regional level. However, the national pharmaceutical industry still faces major challenges, including dependence on imported raw materials, competition from global pharmaceutical products, production efficiency, and the need to strengthen sustainable research and development (R&D). Therefore, synergy between the government, industry players, and other stakeholders is needed to strengthen competitiveness and enlarge opportunities for the development of the pharmaceutical industry as a pillar of economic growth as well as improving public health in the future.

Abstract

This study examines the development of Islamic economic law in Indonesia through the process of ijtihad, with a focus on the influence of national regulations and Sharia principles in economic activities. Using a literature review method, this study examines various sources, including national regulations, fatwas from the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council, and rulings from Religious Courts related to Islamic economic law. The findings reveal that national regulations serve as the legal foundation providing certainty and protection for sharia economic actors, while the ijtihad process acts as a dynamic instrument enabling the adaptation of sharia law to economic developments and innovations in sharia financial products. The synergy between regulations and ijtihad forms a responsive, inclusive, and sustainable legal framework for sharia economics, thereby supporting Indonesia's position as a global centre for sharia economics.

Abstract

This study conducts a legal analysis of the implementation of the Islamic Banking Law and the Compilation of Islamic Economic Law in efforts to strengthen the national financial system in Indonesia. Using a literature review method, the study evaluates the legal and regulatory aspects governing Islamic banking, as well as the role of the Compilation of Islamic Economic Law as a normative foundation in Islamic economic practices. The results of the study indicate that the Islamic Banking Law provides a solid legal framework for the operation of Islamic banking in accordance with Islamic principles, while the Compilation of Islamic Economic Law serves as a legal guideline for religious courts and Islamic financial institutions in resolving disputes and regulating Islamic economic transactions. The integration and strengthening of the implementation of these two legal instruments have the potential to enhance stability, inclusion, and justice in the national financial system. However, efforts to improve regulations and adapt to economic and technological developments must continue to ensure that the role of Islamic finance in national development can be maximised sustainably.

Abstract

This study discusses legal challenges and opportunities in the economy amid global integration and technological advances, with a focus on reviewing the regulatory framework. The dynamics of globalisation and digital technological innovation have brought significant changes to economic processes that require adaptive and responsive legal regulations. However, this study finds that legal uncertainty due to regulatory disparities between countries, weak law enforcement, and issues of cybersecurity and data protection are major challenges that hinder economic stability. On the other hand, technological advances provide opportunities to strengthen transparency, international collaboration, and the development of innovative technology-based regulations that can promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth. An in-depth literature review was used to explore these aspects as a basis for recommendations for updating an effective and equitable economic legal regulatory framework. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and stakeholders in managing economic legal regulation in today's digital and global era.

Abstract

This study examines the adjustment of Indonesia's national economic law in facing two major phenomena, namely international integration and digital transformation, through a literature review method. Economic globalisation requires regulatory harmonisation so that Indonesia can actively participate in international trade and investment without sacrificing national interests. Meanwhile, the rapid development of digital technology has changed the economic paradigm and created a need for regulations that are responsive to innovation and personal data protection. This literature review identifies the challenges, opportunities, and legal adjustment strategies that must be undertaken to maintain a balance between domestic interests and global demands, while creating an inclusive and sustainable digital economic ecosystem. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and academics in developing adaptive and progressive economic legal regulations.
