Abstract

Memajukan dan menyetarakan kualitas pendidikan di wilayah kepulauan masih menjadi tantangan, terutama terkait dengan keterbatasan akses terhadap pengembangan profesional guru dan pemanfaatan teknologi pembelajaran mutakhir. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru di wilayah Pulau Tidung, Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta, dalam menerapkan pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam dengan berbantuan kecerdasan artifisial sebagai strategi pembelajaran yang mendorong pemahaman mendalam dan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan, pelatihan daring dan luring, pendampingan praktik pembelajaran, serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 48 guru di Pulau Tidung Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan guru, dengan perbandingan rerata skor hasil pre-test 75,61 dan rerata skor hasil post-test menjadi 80,15. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan sistem bauran dengan pendekatan experiential learning dapat menjadi solusi strategis dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru untuk implementasi pembelajaran mendalam di daerah kepulauan.

Abstract

The decline in social interactions within the school environment has a significant impact on students' social skills. The purpose of this research is to enhance the importance of developing social skills among elementary school students in the digital era through a creative approach when creating a poster with the theme "INSANG," utilizing digital technology in the process. The Design and Development (D&D) method and the ADDIE research model are employed as guides in development, supported by a descriptive quantitative approach. The research sample was taken from 29 fifth-grade students of SDN Perumnas Suradita in Tangerang Regency, with the implementation of pretest and posttest instruments to measure changes in social skills. Data analysis results using the Paired Samples T-Test show a significant difference with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.038 (p < 0.05), indicating that the development of the INSANG poster effectively enhances students' social skills with the assistance of digital technology. This research provides valuable insights into addressing the challenges of developing social skills amidst the digital era while emphasizing the crucial role of technology in creating innovative and creative learning media.

Abstract

The lack of students’ reading interest is indicated by many students who are more interested in playing with gadgets than reading a book. It is exacerbated by the condition of the library, which has been closed for approximately 5 years so it makes students less facilitated to read. The purpose of this paper is to find out how the implementation of Sustained Silent Reading increases fifth-grade students’ reading interest. The research was conducted at SDN Pekantingan 1 Cirebon. The method used was qualitative research method with study cases and data that are used and produced are descriptive data. Based on the AKM Kampus Mengajar’s pre-test dan posttest, the results indicate that there is a significant value. After implementing Sustained Silent Reading, the students dominantly achieve a significant value. Even though the posttest score did not reach 80, students still managed to obtain a significant score that was higher than the pretest. In conclusion, the implementation of Sustained Silent Reading is effective and can increase students' interest in reading.

Abstract

The increasing number of mental health issues in Indonesia and the limited research studied on mental-emotional health issues, in general, are the background of this paper, especially among elementary students. It is to investigate the role and obstacles of elementary school teachers regarding the students’ mental health characteristics and social-emotional conditions. The research implication is that teachers play a crucial role in managing students' mental-emotional health to build positive values and attitudes in order to have good personalities at school. Therefore, teachers need to have the skills to control their own emotions well in order to support them to act in healthy physical and mental activities. The research used a qualitative approach using phenomenological research methods. The research participants included teachers and 44 fifth-grade students of SDN 1 Kebarepan. Data collection used interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results indicate that the teachers have been carrying out their roles in managing students' emotional conditions, even though it doesn’t implement totally yet as the environment lived by students can also provide an impact on their mental-emotional health development.

Abstract

Rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap materi sejarah di tingkat sekolah dasar disebabkan oleh metode pembelajaran yang masih cenderung monton dan kurang menarik. Materi sejarah dianggap membosankan karena identik dengan hafalan serta minimnys media interaktif yang dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep secara kontekstual. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas penggunaan aplikasi WAPENA sebagai media pembelajaran digital dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa kelas IV pada materi sejarah Kerajaan Hindu-Buddha. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, masing-masing kelas berjumlah 30 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pretest dan posttest, sementara Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas dan uji N-Gain menggunakan software SPSS 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata nilai pretest dan posttest. Selain itu, hasil uji N-Gain juga menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media berbasis aplikasi masuk pada kategori cukup efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami materi. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi mampu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa secara signifikan. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan motivasi bagi guru untuk mengintegrasikan media digital interaktif ke dalam proses pembelajaran agar menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih menarik, adaptif, dan bermakna bagi siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of puzzle media in improving the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students in social studies at Wado Elementary School. The background of this study is the low critical thinking skills in the social studies learning process. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects in this study were fifth-grade students consisting of 32 students from the experimental class and 30 students from the control class. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests (pretest and posttest). The results showed that there was a significant increase in posttest scores in the experimental class with an average of 71.29, which is included in the fairly effective category, while the control class only reached 31.43, which is included in the ineffective category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that puzzle media is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low environmental awareness among elementary school students, which affects the integrity of the relationship between humans and nature. The objective is to utilize the influence of digital fable stories as a learning media in the IPAS subject to develop environmental awareness in children aged 7-12 years, who are in Piaget’s concrete operational cognitive development stage. The research methodology employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The learning approach uses the digital fable "Menjadi Surili," which contains environmental values to enhance children’s empathy and understanding of nature conservation and biodiversity as an investment for the future. The results prove that the use of the digital fable in the 5th-grade class at SDN Cimalaka III has a significant effect and impact on students’ environmental awareness attitudes. The clear differences between the experimental and control classes demonstrate the effectiveness of this media in increasing environmental awareness compared to learning methods without digital fables.

Abstract

The research is motivated by the demands for the readiness of elementary school teachers and students to face the Merdeka Curriculum, one of which is the demand for HOTS- based learning. The implementation of HOTS-based learning requires an evaluation using HOTS- based test questions as well. The objectives are, 1) to analyze and examine the readiness of teachers in supporting the implementation of HOTS-based learning and its evaluation using HOTS-based test instruments, and 2) to analyze and examine how students' readiness to receive HOTS-based tests, especially in mathematics. This study used the survey method. The survey was conducted on 172 teachers and 154 high grade students in West Java, Indonesia. The instrument used questionnaires, for teachers distributed through Google Form, while for students using paper questionnaires that were filled in manually. Research results: 1) Elementary school teachers aren’t fully prepared to implement HOTS-based learning, there are still misconceptions of teachers' understanding of HOTS learning; 2) In Mathematics, there are still many students who aren’t ready to accept the presence of HOTS-based test questions, because they haven’t mastered basic arithmetic skills. This is the biggest obstacle for students to be able to absorb, accept, and solve HOTS-based math questions as an evaluation standard in the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Effective leadership and management influence the institution's progress, especially in higher education. However, e-leadership and effective university management have not been fully maximized in higher education. This study aims to determine the general overview of e-leadership, effective university management, and e-leadership design ineffective university management at the UPI Sumedang Campus. This study uses a quantitative approach by using a survey method aimed at 204 UPI Sumedang Campus students. The study results show that the general picture of UPI Sumedang Campus leaders has a high e-leadership attitude by meeting the e-leadership indicators, which include visionary, convener, team sponsor, manager, innovator, and mentor to the maximum. Higher education management has been implemented effectively by meeting the indicators of the implementation of strong educational leadership by university leaders. The design of e-leadership ineffective university management has been implemented effectively, and UPI Sumedang Campus's leadership has a high e-leadership attitude. This research is expected to contribute to higher education by allowing leaders to make more specific and strategic decisions in improving the implementation of the education system, which, in turn, will impact improving the overall quality of higher education.

Abstract

There is a problem faced, namely that elementary school students' understanding of science concepts is still low, which has an impact on low environmental awareness. This research aims to determine the application of the Climate Kids interactive web to build students' conceptual understanding and environmental awareness. The method used in this research is quantitative with an exploratory approach and pre-Exploratory with a one group pretest-posttest design. Participants in this research involved 25 students, 10 male students and 15 female students in class VI of one of the state elementary schools in West Bandung Regency, West Java Province. The research results show that the Climate Kids interactive web can build conceptual understanding and environmental awareness as seen from the average pretest score of 37.67 while the posttest average score is 79.87, supported by the results of the Wilcoxon test with asymp. Sig. 0.000 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the pretest-posttest results and the average environmental awareness questionnaire results obtained are 92%, which shows that the level of students' environmental awareness after being given learning is in the very high category.
