Abstract

This research was aimed to study not only on gross morphologically but also on the histological structure of the Tetraodon lunaris digestive apparatus. The fish samples were obtained from a fisherman at the fish auction in Pelabuhan Ratu, from August 2005 until March 2006. The ratio between intestine and length/body length represented that this fish is carnivorous. The esophagus is short and the gastric forms a simple pouch with two of small diverticula. The intestine consists of a single loop. The esophagus and gastric mucous layer is covered with epithelial stratified cells. The intestine mucous layer has covered with a layer of columnar epithelial cells. The esophagus and gastric muscular layer consist of striated muscle. The sphincter pylorica and the intestine muscular layer consist of smooth muscle. The anus mucous layer consits of epithelial cuboid and it has the muscular layer of striated muscles. The liver has oval-shaped greenish vesica fellea with ductus choledochus emptied at the anterior part of intestine. The hepatocyt cells have a polygonal shape with lipid droplets in its. The exocrine glands of the pancreas tissue showed a set of acinar cells in the liver parencyhm, around portal vein, hepatic artery and biliary ductules.

Abstract

Indonesia has a high potency of eel resources but their utilization has been very limited. For increasing their utilization, we need strategic steps. First step, is an effort to recognize the location, where eel resources potency and then mapping their potency. Second step, is an effort to increase eel utilization for local consumption by intensive promotion, and third step is to increase eel culture activity.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of alkalinity on the survival rate and daily growth rate of Barbodes sp. The fishes were reared in 12 aquariums with four different alkalinity levels 48, 78, 108 and 138 ppm. Each aquarium filled with 10 fish at the average weight of 12.25 to 12.64 g attempt. The treatment lasted for 75 days. During the experiment, the fish were given commercial diet (pellet) with the dose of 5% of biomass weight at the frequency of three times a day. Result of the experiment showed that the survival rate for all treatments was 100%, while the alkalinity which suitable for daily growth rate of the fish was 80 ppm C’aCOr

Abstract

The research was conducted in Mayangan coastal, Pamanukan, West Java from June-November 2003. The collected fish are 323 females and 195 males. The fish is carnivorous, euryphagic and bottom feeder. The primary food is crustacean and fishes, the additional is polychaetas, gastropods, pelecypods and sipunculidea. The food quality and quantity are relatively the same between the females and males. The inter class size niche breadth and the sexual food overlap shown the food competition between them happened. But based on the value of condition factor which is relatively stable. The food competition is little, because maybe the food resoueces is enough.

Abstract

The study was conducted to obtained food habits of blowfish, comprises relative consumption food and composition of food. Fish sample taken by dogol net with mesh size 1; 1.5 and 2.5 inchi. The collected fish was 253 males and 317 females. Fish sample taken once in month using net with mesh size 1; 1.5 and 2.5 inch. Food analysis determined by using Index Stomach Content (ISC) and Index of Preponderance. Food composition comprises fish, shells, gastropods, shrimp, crabs, squids, serasah and unintified.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know the relationship between the altitude and biological aspects of swamp eel. It is expected that the result of the research can be used as basic information for its culture development. Swamp eel sample were collected from many locations at Subang regency, West java eg: Nanggerang (17 m asl), Gunung Sari (43 m asl), Suka Melang (150 m asl), Gunung Tua (400 m asl) and Tambak Mekar (600 m asl) villages during April to Mei 2001. In every sampling sites were measured physical-chemical and biological parameters of water and substrat texture were examined. Biological aspects of swamp eel e.g.: fish abundance, condition factors, maturity index, fecundity and food habits were analysed in laboratory. The result of the research indicated that altitude affected physical, chemical and biological parameters of water and substrate texture. The altitude also influenced the fish abundance, food habits and fecundity of the fish ell.AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara ketinggian tempat dan aspek-aspek biologi belnt sawah Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai informasi dasar untuk pegembangan budidaya Contoli ikan belut sawah ditangkap dari beberapa lokasi di Kabupaten Subang, Jawa Barat yakni di Desa Nanggerang (ketinggian 17 m dpi), Gunung Sari (43 m dpi), Suka Melang (150 m dpi), Gunung Tua (400 m dpi) dan Tambak Mekar (600 m dpi) dari bulan April - Mei 2001. Di setiap lokasi pengambilan contoh diukur parameter-parameter fisika-kimia air dan tekstur substrat. Aspek biologi ikan belnt sawah yang dianalisis adalah kelimpahan, faktor kondisi, indeks kematangan gonad, fekunditas dan kebiasaan makanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketinggian tempat mempengaruhi parameter fiskia, kimia dan biologi serta tekstur substrat. Ketinggian tempat juga mempengaruhi kelimpahan, kebiasaaan amakanan dan fekunditas belut sawah.

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different dietary level of cellulose on the biological condition such as protease activity in intestine (APU) and stomach (APL), intestine somatic index (ISI), intestine-body length ratio (PU/PT), the chemical composition of giant gouramy fry stomach-body weigh ratio (BL/BT), and growth rate (DGR), and of giant gouramy fry. Two isonitrogenous (41.942.2% crude protein) and isocaloric (3084.9-3128.9 kcal digestible energy/kg of feed) practical diets contained either 2.6% and 19.3% cellulose/kg of feed respectively, were fed to giant gouramy to giant gouramy fry. Types were fed on the experimental diet at satiation, three times daily for 60 days. Fish fry were placed in each aquarium (60 x 40 x 30 cm in size). The result showed that feed containing 19.3% of cellulose affected in proease activity in intestine (APU) and stomach (APL), intestine somatic index (ISI), intestine-body length ratio (PU/PT), stomach-body weigh ratio (BL/BT) (p<0.05) but it did not affect the specific growth rate (DGR) (p>0.05). AbstrakPercobaan dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari pemberian selulosa dalam pakan terhadap kondisi biologis yaitu aktivitas endoenzim (protease) di usus dan lambung (APU dan APL), intestine somatik indek (ISI), hepato somatik indek (HSI), rasio panjang usus/panjang tubuh (PU/PT), rasio berat lambung/berat tubuh (BL/BT), laju pertumbuhan harian (DGR) dan komposisi kimia tubuh benih ikan gurami. Dua macam pakan yang digunakan yaitu yang mengandung protein dan energi yang relatif sama yaitu berturut-turut 41.88-42.25% dan 3084.9-3128.9 kkal/kg pakan, dengan kandungan selulosa yang digunakan dalam pakan masing-masing adalah 2,6 % dan 19,3 %. Ikan di pelihara dalam akuarium dengan menggunakan sistem resirkulasi. Masing-masing akuarium diisi ikan sebanyak 50 ekor dengan bobot awal 0.6-0.8 gram. Selama pemeliharaan ikan diberi pakan sampai kenyang. Ikan diberi pakan tiga kali sehari yaitu pukul 8 pagi, 12 siang dan 4 sore. Setelah 60 hari pemeliharaan (pada akhir percobaan) dilakukan evaluasi pengaruh selulosa terhadap kondisi biologis benih ikan gurami yaitu APU dan APL, ISI, HSI, PU/PT, BL/BT, DGR dan komposisi kimia tubuh. Hasil percobaan menunjukan bahwa penambahan selulosa sebesar 19,3% dalam pakan memberi pengaruh terhadap APU, APL, ISI, HSI, PU/PT, dan BL/BT (P<0.05), namun tidak meningkatkan laju pertumbuhan benih ikan gurami (P>0.05).

Abstract

The observation was done in Palabuhanratu bay from June 2005 until February 2006, The observation aimed to describe fecundity and development of the gonad. Samples were caught using hand lines with 6-9 mesh size and “kincang” boat. Total sample were 108 with range of length are 210 - 812 mm and total weight between 62 - 6434 gram. Fecundity was between 205.547 - 3.028.159 and shown that P. multidens had a large reproductive potency. The development of gonad (testes and ovary) in morphology and histology could explained the first size sexual maturity, spawning season and spawning type.

Abstract

The present study aimed to ensure the effect 3 ppt of salt addition into the transportation media water to the water quality, suvival rate, daily growth rate, and stress level after transportation. This study was consisted of two phase, the first phase was fish transportation for 24 hours and the second phase was 21 days rearing after-transportation. Snake-head larvae’s transported with five treatments i.e a transportation media with no salt addition and stocked with 30 larvae L-1 as the control, and four transportation media with 3 ppt salt addition at different densities (30, 45, 60, and 75 larvae L-1). During the transportation, the water quality and survival rate were determined. The first phase experiment showed that salt addition in transportation media maintained the water quality and higher survival rate than control. After 24 hours, 30 larvae of each treatment were stocked into tank with 0 ppt salinity media. The results showed no significant differences in the survival rate and growth rate at the different densities without salt addition. The pH and blood glucose levels were slowly back to normal in day 21. Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian garam 3 ppt dalam media pengangkutan terhadap perubahan kualitas air dan laju sintasan selama pengangkutan, laju pertumbuhan harian, glukosa darah, dan pH darah pascapengangkutan. Penelitian ini terdiri atas dua tahap kegiatan, yaitu tahap satu adalah pengangkutan selama 24 jam dan tahap dua adalah pemeliharaan pascapengangkutan selama 21 hari. Pada tahap satu kantong plastik diisi air 1 L dan dilakukan pengepakan sesuai dengan perlakuan, yaitu perlakuan kontrol tanpa garam (kepadatan 30 ekor L-1) dan perla-kuan penambahan garam 3 ppt (kepadatan 30, 45, 60, dan 75 ekor L"1). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan dengan penambahan garam dalam media pengangkutan dapat mempertahankan kondisi kualitas air dan menghasilkan laju sintasan yang le-bih tinggi dibandingkan pada perlakuan tanpa garam. Tahap dua adalah pemeliharaan pascapengangkutan selama 21 hari. Setelah masa pengangkutan juvenil dari setiap perlakuan dan ulangan dipelihara 30 ekor per akuarium pada media bersalinitas 0 ppt. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan laju sintasan dan laju pertumbuhan pascapengangkutan tidak berbeda nyata pada setiap perlakuan. Glukosa darah dan pH darah perlahan kembali normal hingga pemeliharaan hari ke-21.

Abstract

Carbamate is a highly toxic pollutant for animal, even though this insecticide is biodegradable in nature and in the food chain. The purpose of this research was to find the LC50-96 of carbamate insecticide (Marshall 200 EC) on test organism. The test organism used common carps (Cyprinus carpio L.) with 6-8 cm of length and 5,5-9 g of weight. This study used an experimental method by divided into two steps i.e. preliminary test and acute toxicity (LC50-96) tests. Preliminary test was done without repetition and twice repetition for acute toxicity. Acute toxicity test data were analyzed by probit analysis. The result showed that LC50-96of carbamate insecticide (Marshal 200 EC) on Cyprinus carpio L. was 1,68 mgL-1. Abstrak Pestisida golongan karbamat merupakan sumber pencemar yang sangat toksik bagi hewan, meskipun insektisida go-longan karbamat ini mudah terurai di alam baik pada media air maupun pada organisme dalam rantai makanan. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah mengukur nilai LC50-96 insektisida karbamat (Marshal 200 EC) terhadap hewan uji. Hewan uji yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah ikan mas (Cyprinus carpio L.) dengan panjang 6-8 cm dan bobot 5,5-9 g. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah metode eksperimental dengan dua tahapan penelitian, yaitu uji pendahuluan dan uji toksisitas akut (LC50-96). Uji pendahuluan dilakukan tanpa ulangan dan uji toksisitas akut dilakukan ulangan sebanyak dua kali. Data uji toksisitas akut dianalisis dengan analisis probit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai LC50-96 insektisida karbamat (Marshal 200 EC) terhadap ikan mas adalah 1,68 mgL-1.
