Abstract

The main issue in this research is how the management of the English language skills improvement program for students at modern Islamic boarding school. The purpose of this study is to describe the program and its management in improving the language skills of the students at the institution. This research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data sources are verified through primary and secondary data. The data processing is conducted descriptively and qualitatively, followed by classification of specific aspects of the problem and presented effectively. The findings from field research indicate that the English language skills enhancement program at modern Islamic boarding school consists of four main programs: i) intracurricular program, consists of grammar, dictation, English lesson, story for you, reading and speaking, ii) curricular program, consists of daily vocabularies, English conversations, English week, muhadharah, haflah al-Lughah, speech contest, iii) extracurricular program, consists of English club, debate club, and storytelling club, and iv) involves teacher training and teaching practice classes for santri. The planning carried out in this program aligns with the planning indicators, the organization is well-structured, the implementation follows the program accordingly, and the supervision complies with the established planning and standards.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan lembaga pendidikan Islam untuk mengoptimalkan penguatan moral siswa Generasi Z melalui manajemen pendidikan berbasis digitalisasi pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan perencanaan, digitalisasi pembelajaran dalam penguatan moral di SMPIT Al-Fath Payakumbuh. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus dengan enam informan (kepala sekolah, guru, dan siswa). Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, serta dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles & Huberman yang mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan digitalisasi pembelajaran dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah dan guru melalui forum formal dan informal, dengan fokus pada pengadaan perangkat teknologi, pengembangan media pembelajaran bernilai moral, serta pengintegrasian nilai Islam dalam materi pelajaran sesuai visi dan misi sekolah. Kesimpulannya,  perencanaan pendidikan Islam berbasis digitalisasi pembelajaran di SMPIT Al-Fath Payakumbuh berjalan dengan baik dan memberikan kontribusi positif dalam penguatan moral siswa generasi Z, namun perlu penyempurnaan perencanaan  yang lebih komprehensif agar hasilnya optimal.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a model of local wisdom-based instructional materials in Minangkabau context for the English for Tourism course. To realize the aim, an R&D design was applied by adapting Borg & GallÔÇÖs first four stages, namely product analysis, initial product development, expert validation, and product revision. Product analysis includes analyzing the characteristics and needs of students towards the teaching materials; b) interviews with competent resource persons to obtain input for initial product development; c) a review of the relevant theory of initial product development. Initial Product Development includes formulating core topics, designing syllabus, gathering resources for designing draft, and designing, editing and printing prototypes. Validation was conducted to figure out whether the prototype model had integrated Minangkabau local wisdom in teaching materials for the course and was suitable for learning into speaking. The product analysis stage resulted in initial product development in the form of a prototype consisting of 14 units, where each unit consists of 4 parts, namely: introduction, common expressions, sample conversations, and role play. The validation results confirm that, in general, in terms of the relevance of teaching materials to course objectives, the prototype was valid (3.15 out of 4) and very valid (4.03 out of 5). In addition, in terms of the principles of learning speaking skills, the prototype was very valid (3.66 out of 4). Furthermore, from the aspect of integrating Minangkabau local wisdom into teaching materials, this prototype has provided a model for practical conversations for tour guiding activities in Minangkabau context.

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom and teaching method in all language skills are important to preserve the culture and to insert the character values. This notion relates with this study in which the local wisdom and group investigation method are integrated in teaching writing. Group investigation is teaching method that build studentsÔÇÖ team work. Besides, the aim of this study is to explore the effect of implementing group investigation method and local wisdom in improving studentsÔÇÖ writing skill. The research method used is a quasi-experimental study (one group Pre-test - Post-test). The subject of this study is junior high school students. The results of T-test show that there is a significant difference of studentsÔÇÖ writing skill before and after getting the treatment. Besides, integrating group investigation method and local wisdom is more effective to enhance studentsÔÇÖ writing skill. Furthermore, this study gives theoretical, practical, and pedagogical implications in teaching writing. The novelty of this study is that this study uses interdisciplinary approach, especially in integrating the local wisdom discourse and group investigation method. The contribution of this study is to the language teachers especially those who concern with writing skills, on how to develop teaching method using cultural approach in creative way

Abstract

The primary responsibility of the government is to safeguard the best interests of all citizens. In Indonesia, where the majority of the population follows Islam, the principles of poverty eradication through social safety system align with the constitutional guidelines. Among these principles are social assistance and mustahik Zakat. However, the process of obtaining accurate data on beneficiaries of social assistance often encounters challenges, leading to the emergence of inaccurate information. This is in line with Article 28 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2011 concerning Handling The Poor, where the government is required to develop a comprehensive plan to aid the impoverished. It also involves establishing a database of those in need and implementing efficient application methods. From this context, the data collection issues hinder the ability of the government to achieve critical objectives, such as poverty reduction and enhancing the overall well-being of the population. Therefore, this study aims to determine a position where Islamic and state law agree on the patterns of helping poor people eradicate poverty toward the coexistence of social aid and mustahik Zakat data, using a normative legal method. The results showed that a single set of data should include both the people obtaining social aid and mustahik Zakat, for poverty reduction to be successful and progressive. For data to be integrated, the rules guiding the agreement of everyone should also be emphasized, to ensure that poor people were obtaining help from social services or Zakat mustahik. This enabled the easy operation of programs, to help affected people eradicate poverty.

Abstract

The ease of service provided by Islamic banking has become increasingly advanced. One of them is a mobile banking service owned by Bank Syariah Indonesia under the name BSI Mobile, where customers will get various conveniences of service facilities with just one application downloaded using Play Strore for Android and the App store of IOS (Iphone Operating System) users. Mobile services and various contracts that have innovated are the basis for the author to examine the validity of contracts carried out by customers, where the purpose of this study is to examine hybrid contracts contained in BSI Mobile. The author uses an empirical juridical approach, combining primary data and data in the field so that the suitability of theory and practice at Bank Syariah Indonesia is found. Based on the results of this study, there are new products in Islamic Banking contained in BSI Mobile. Most of BSI Mobile products actually contain several contracts so it is necessary to apply sharia principles, especially in terms of their conformity with contracts.

Abstract

This study investigates how speech acts are employed to construct pedagogical intentions in lecturer–student classroom discourse in Linguistics classes at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, Indonesia. the study examines how classroom utterances function not only as linguistic expressions but also as pedagogical actions. A qualitative case study with pragmatic discourse analysis was conducted, involving three lecturers and 34 undergraduate students. Data were collected through non-participant observation, audio recordings of class sessions, field notes documenting non-verbal cues and classroom context, and semi-structured interviews with lecturers and students. A subset of 300 representative utterances was selected and analyzed based on Austin and Searle's frameworks. Frequency and percentage calculations were conducted to determine the distribution of speech act types. Trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation, peer debriefing, intercoder checking, and member clarification, while ethical approval was obtained and participants' identities were anonymized. Findings reveal that directive acts dominated classroom discourse (40%, n=120), followed by assertive acts (26.7%, n=80), expressive acts (16.7%, n=50), locutionary acts (10%, n=30), and commissive acts (6.7%, n=20). Seven pedagogical intentions were identified: instructing, motivating, clarifying, reinforcing, entertaining, evaluating, and concluding. This study demonstrates that speech acts function as integrated pedagogical resources enabling lecturers to manage classroom interaction, scaffold student understanding, and facilitate active participation. The findings contribute to pragmatics-informed pedagogy by providing empirical evidence from an Indonesian higher education context, an area previously underexplored in speech act research.

Abstract

The implementation of Annisa Forum activities in schools is often hampered by the lack of a systematic and easily accessible digital guidebook. The absence of this guideline causes activities to run undirected and unsustainable, making it difficult to achieve the goal of developing Muslim women's character. This study aims to produce a valid and practical mentoring-based Annisa Forum guidebook, designed in the form of a digital flipbook. The research method uses the 4D Research and Development (R&D) model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) which is limited to the Develop stage. The Define stage includes needs analysis, the Design stage includes the design of digital materials and formats, and the Develop stage involves expert validation and practicality testing. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Batusangkar. The research subjects included three expert validators (materials, media, and language), the Forum mentor teacherAnnisa, and 43 female students involved in a limited trial. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, expert validation, and questionnaires. The validation results showed a percentage of 88% (very valid) with material aspects of 89.33%, media 86.67%, and language 86.67%. The teacher's practicality test reached 90.33% and student responses 91.63% (very practical). The developed guideline flipbook proved to be very valid and very practical. This guidebook is suitable for use as a guide for implementing Annisa Forum activities at the junior high school level to shape the character and personality of Muslim women.

Abstract

The consistent use of multimedia by student teachers in English language instruction has been recognized to enhance students’ motivation and learning outcomes. This study aimed to examine students’ intrinsic motivation in learning English through multimedia. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed. The sample consisted of 31 students from grades VII and VIII at a junior high school in Salimpaung, Tanah Datar, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed descriptively with SPSS version 30.0. The findings indicate that students’ intrinsic motivation in learning English using multimedia was generally at a moderate level. Across the five dimensions of intrinsic motivation, students demonstrated high levels of enjoyment of the learning process, desire to succeed, encouragement to learn, and interest in learning, while their hope of achieving learning goals remained at a moderate level. These findings suggest that multimedia can support students’ engagement and intrinsic motivation in English learning, although the level of motivation was not consistently high across all dimensions. The findings imply that English teachers should integrate multimedia with appropriate instructional strategies to better foster students’ intrinsic motivation and create more engaging learning experiences in EFL classrooms.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam, PAI) learning at SMPN 3 Lintau Buo Utara is still dominated by conventional approaches, lacks learning modules aligned with students’ needs, does not yet integrate instruction with the surrounding learning environment, and has not fully optimized the use of technology, thereby necessitating the development of more contextual and interactive teaching materials. This study aimed to develop an environment-based PAI and Budi Pekerti e-module to support environment-based learning. The research employed a research and development method using the ASSURE model with eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Lintau Buo Utara. Needs analysis data were collected using interview guidelines and analyzed with the Miles and Huberman technique, while validity test data were obtained through validation sheets and analyzed using Aiken’s V formula. Practicality test data consisted of quantitative data collected using student response questionnaires and analyzed with the Degree of Achievement formula, as well as qualitative data obtained through interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman technique. The needs analysis results indicated that an environment-based PAI and Budi Pekerti e-module was highly necessary to develop. The resulting e-module demonstrated a high level of validity, with scores of 0.85 for media validation and 0.92 for content validation, and very high practicality with a score of 93.7 from 45 respondents, further supported by interview findings showing that the e-module was very practical for use in instruction. Accordingly, the environment-based PAI and Budi Pekerti e-module developed in this study is deemed highly valid and highly practical for implementation in classroom learning activities.
