Abstract

This present study explores the advantages and disadvantages of WhatsApp (WA) as a learning tool during Covid-19 pandemic. WA is a messaging application that can be installed on smartphones and has many useful features. Researchers are interested in researching since many students and lecturers choose WA as an application for continuous learning while one knows that many applications are actually intended for learning. The design of this research was a mix method (quantitative and qualitative). This research involved 168 respondents as a sample. The instrument of this research was an open-ended questionnaire. To analyze the questionnaire, the researchers used the data analysis based on Miles, Huberman, & Saldana (2014). Three steps were applied: data condensation, data display, and drawing & verifying conclusion. The study concludes that most of the respondents believed that WA has more advantages than disadvantages. The advantages include it is effective and easy to use; the features are helpful, save internet quota, very light, easy to do communication, easy to observe the students. The disadvantages, however, is easy for the students to cheat, old chats are easily piled up by the new chats, the upload size is limited, and member capacity in the group is limited.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a model of local wisdom-based instructional materials in Minangkabau context for the English for Tourism course. To realize the aim, an R&D design was applied by adapting Borg & Gall’s first four stages, namely product analysis, initial product development, expert validation, and product revision. Product analysis includes analyzing the characteristics and needs of students towards the teaching materials; b) interviews with competent resource persons to obtain input for initial product development; c) a review of the relevant theory of initial product development. Initial Product Development includes formulating core topics, designing syllabus, gathering resources for designing draft, and designing, editing and printing prototypes. Validation was conducted to figure out whether the prototype model had integrated Minangkabau local wisdom in teaching materials for the course and was suitable for learning into speaking. The product analysis stage resulted in initial product development in the form of a prototype consisting of 14 units, where each unit consists of 4 parts, namely: introduction, common expressions, sample conversations, and role play. The validation results confirm that, in general, in terms of the relevance of teaching materials to course objectives, the prototype was valid (3.15 out of 4) and very valid (4.03 out of 5). In addition, in terms of the principles of learning speaking skills, the prototype was very valid (3.66 out of 4). Furthermore, from the aspect of integrating Minangkabau local wisdom into teaching materials, this prototype has provided a model for practical conversations for tour guiding activities in Minangkabau context.

Abstract

Modifications of education and learning must be made because of the industrial revolution that continues to advance and develop so a teacher needs to prepare himself with science and teaching skills in the 21st century without losing the principles and character of traditional Islamic education. Likewise, with the use of media in learning, teachers are required to be able to innovate by utilizing existing technology so that students can get knowledge, expertise, or behavior from the results of the learning carried out. This research was conducted to develop educational videos using iSpring suite software that can be used in the face-to-face learning process, online learning, or independent learning, as well as to see its validity and practicality. The type of research used is research and development by applying 4D models (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The results showed that the educational videos that have been developed are needed by teachers and students and are declared very valid and very practical so that learning is more varied, interesting, and efficient and can be used independently or in groups anytime and anywhere without using the internet because it is in the form of an APK. For face-to-face learning, the learning media that has been designed is published in HTML while for self-study it into video form so that it can be opened on each student's Android.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan kegiatan implementasi link and match di SMKN 1 Sungai Rumbai. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Jenis penelitian studi kasus. Informan penelitian adalah: kepala sekolah, ketua panitia pelaksana Program, kepala konsentrasi keahlian yang diunggulkan, wakil kepalah bidang kurikulum, satu orang panitia Prakerin dan dua orang siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan cara: triangulasi data, mereduksi data, penyajin data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan SMKN 1 Sungai Rumbai sudah melaksanakan fungsi manajemen dalam melaksanakan Program SMK PK yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan. Perencanaan dilakukan melalui 1) Membedah Keputusan Menteri mengenai link and match, 2) Melakukan kolaborasi dengan tim yang dibentuk khusus untuk program link and match. Tahap pelaksanaan implementasi link and match, SMKN 1 Sungai Rumbai, melakukan delapan kegiatan yang terdiri dari 1). Penyelarasan kurikulum, 2). Kelas Industri, 3). Program Guru Industri, 4). Praktek Kerja Industri, 5). Sertifikasi kompetensi, 6). Update teknologi dari DUDI, 7). Riset terapan, dan 8). Pemberian dana hibah oleh perusahaan dalam bentuk alat praktek siswa. Pada tahap pengawasan terhadap kegiatan link and match di SMKN 1 Sungai Rumbai dilakukan secara internal dan eksternal. Pengawasan internal dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah, sedangkan pengawasan eksternal dilakukan oleh pihak kementerian bidang vokasi.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengevaluasi pemenuhan Standar Nasional Pendidikan di SMK Pusat Keunggulan Kabupaten Dharmasraya, mengungkapkan relevansi antara komponen input-proses-output menurut model logika dalam pemenuhan Standar Nasional Pendidikan tersebut, serta menganalisis kendala yang dihadapi SMK Pusat Keunggulan Kab. Dharmasraya dalam pemenuhan Standar Nasional Pendidikan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitaif, dimana peneliti mendapatkan data melalui angket yang disebar kepada seluruh guru dan tenaga kependidikan di 2 SMK pelaksana program Pusat Keunggulan (PK). Data angket diolah dengan statistik deskriptif melalui bantuan aplikasi IBM SPSS Statistics 25, selanjutnya peneliti mencoba menggali dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana pemenuhan dari delapan Standar Nasional Pendidikan di SMK Pusat Kenggulan Kabupaten Dharmasraya yaitu, SMK Negeri 1 Sungai Rumbai dan SMK Negeri 1 Koto Baru, serta menganalisis apakah terdapat relevansi antara komponen input, komponen proses dan komponen output dari 8 standar nasional tersebut menurut model logika. Dari data penelitian ditemukan fakta bahwa 2 SMK Pusat Keunggulan di Kabupaten Dharmasraya telah memenuhi standar nasional pendidikan dengan capaian rata-rata pada level baik. Namun tidak terdapat relevansi antara komponen input, komponen proses dan komponen output dalam pemenuhan Standar Nasional Pendidikan menurut model logika, hal ini dapat dijelaskan bahwa keduasekolah telah mencapai komponen input yang baik, komponen proses yang baik, namun komponen output masih berada pada level cukup. Selayaknya ketika sekolah telah memiliki kurikulum yang baik, dengan dukungan guru dan tenaga kependidikan yang kompeten serta sarana prasarana yang memadai karena pembiayaan yang baik maka diharapkan proses dan pengelolaan pendidikan akan berjalan dengan baik sampai pada tahap penilaian sehingga menghasilkan lulusan yang berkualitas. Namun data peneilitian menunjukkan kompetensi lulusan yang belum seutuhnya baik, hal ini di sebabkan oleh program SMK PK ini baru berjalan 2 tahun dan belum menghasilkan lulusan.

Abstract

Education and learning require collaboration from various aspects, including the involvement of school committees as community representatives in education. The law of education mandates active roles of school committees in improving educational services in schools. However, there are still various problems in implementing the roles and duties of school committees, including constraints in empowerment that still need to be optimally fulfilled in the functions and roles in schools. This research aims to analyze the extent to which the implementation of roles and duties of school committees in Senior High Schools in Limapuluh Kota Regency. The type of research method used is quantitative descriptive with a survey method. This research was conducted at Senior Senior High Schools in Limapuluh Kota Regency, with a sample size of 251 teachers as respondents. Data was collected using a questionnaire instrument while the Aiken and the Construct Validity test using Product Moment Correlation. The reliability test was checked using Alpha Cronbash and the technique of data analysis used descriptive statistical methods, specifically calculating percentages based on the data measured using the Likert scale. Based on the research, data were obtained for the four roles of school committees that can be measured numerically. The school committee has proper roles in fulfilling the responsibility as an advisory agency, a supporting agency, a controlling agency, and a mediator agency. The results of this study indicate that the roles and duties of the school committee in Senior High School in Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota already perform good responsibilities. However, there is still a need for efforts to strengthen and enhance the roles and duties of the school committee in Senior High Schools in Limapuluh Kota Regency.

Abstract

Kebebasan setiap warga negara untuk memeluk dan melaksanakan ibadah bersadasarkan kepercayaan dan agama merupakan amanat konstitusi yang termuat dalam sila pertama dan pasal 29 UUD 1945. Keberadaan aliran penghayat kepercayaan harus mendapat perlindungan dan kepastian hukum serta mendapat kedudukan yang sama di muka hukum. Namun yang menjadi disclaimer terhadap hal tersebut adalah realita hukum perkawinan di Indonesia saat dihadapkan dengan aliran penghayat kepercayaan. Pasal 2 ayat (1) dan (2) UU Perkawinan menyatakan, perkawinan dikatakan sah, apabila dilaksanakan berdasarkan hukum masing-masing agama dan kepercayaan. Serta mensyaratkatkan harus tercatat secara administrasi negara. Tulisan ini mengangkat persoalan perkawinan bagi aliran penghayat kepercayaan di Indonesia ditinjau dari dua perspektif, antara perspektif politik hukum dan politik agama. Tulisan ini disusun menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan legal normative research. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode desk research dan annotated bibliography. Temuan dalam tulisan ini menunjukkan, sampai saat ini hukum perkawinan bagi aliran penghayat kepercayaan masih mengandung polemik dalam pelaksanaanya. Sedangkan bila ditinjau dari perspektif politik hukum, sudah seharusnya pemerintah mengatur dan memberi kepastian hukum terhadap perkawinan aliran kepercayaan baik sesama penghayat aliran kepercayaan ataupun perkawinan antara penghayat kepercayaan dan non penghayat kepercayaan sebagai wujud supremasi hukum. Namun jika ditinjaukan dari politik agama keberadaan aliran kepercayaan membutuhkan pengertian yang jelas berkeaan dengan maksud dari term “kepercayaan”.

Abstract

Meningioma adalah tumor jinak primer di sistem saraf pusat yang berasal dari sel araknoid meningoepitelial. Meningioma merupakan salah satu dari banyak lesi di intrakranial, yang memiliki gejala klinis yang mirip. Sehingga dalam proses diagnosisnya, terdapat pemeriksaan radiologi sebagai diagnosis tentatif dan pemeriksaan patologi anatomi sebagai diagnosis definitif. Diagnosis tentatif memiliki peran penting untuk menyingkirkan kemungkinan penyebab dan menemukan informasi yang tepat dengan waktu yang cepat sehingga dokter spesialis dapat segera menentukan tindak lanjut untuk pasien. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengukur nilai sensitivitas dan spesifisitas CT-Scan sebagai alat diagnosis meningioma terhadap pemeriksaan patologi anatomi sebagai gold standard. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi deskriptif uji diagnostik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari data sekunder yaitu data rekam medik. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling pada pasien dengan tumor otak yang telah mengikuti prosedur pemeriksaan CT-Scan dan histopatologi pada periode 2020-2022 dengan minimal sampel sebanyak 74 sampel. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa mayoritas pasien datang dengan keluhan nyeri kepala yang kronis. Untuk parameter uji diagnostik, nilai sensitivitas dan spesifisitas berturut-turut sebesar 83% dan 94%. Nilai prediksi positif sebesar 94% dan nilai prediksi negatif sebesar 82%. Didapatkan nilai akurasi dari pemeriksaan CT-Scan dengan kontras terhadap diagnosis meningioma, yaitu sebesar 88%.  Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mendapatkan bahwa gambaran CT-Scan dengan kontras memiliki ciri khas meningioma adalah kesan ekstraaksial, menyangat kontras kuat, dan massa yang homogen.  Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini  adalah CT-Scan belum mampu menjadi alat diagnosis tentatif meningioma yang utama karena sensitivitas dan spesifisitasnya yang lebih rendah dari MRI.

Abstract

  The objective of this research is to determine whether there is a correlation between students’ reading anxiety and their reading ability. This research is a correlational study. The population of this research were the 66 students of the English Teaching Department at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. The sample was chosen by simple random sampling technique using Slovin’s formula. As a result, 55 students were used as a sample. The data were gathered by using questionnaires and reading test. The result of this research indicates that there was a correlation between students’ reading anxiety and their reading ability. It is indicated by the data analysis using the “r” product moment formula. The result shows that the calculated correlation coefficient (rxy) was -0.343 which has a negative sign, which means “rxy” has a negative direction. Next, “rxy” (-0.343) with degree of freedom (df)= N-2 (56-2) = 54. It can be stated that the r-table was 0.254 at the level significant 5%. It can be concluded that Ha was accepted because r-calculated (-0.343) was higher than the value of the r-table (0.254).

Abstract

This present research is motivated by lack of English teaching materials for pre-school children and the need for an appropriate English textbook. The aim of this research is to develop an English textbook for English for pre-school children. This research adopted Research and Development which employed three stages, namely exploration stage, design stage, and validation stage. Data were collected through document analysis and interviews. The result of need analysis pointed out that pre-school teachers need an English textbook for teaching. In the design phase, the textbook is carefully designed to meet the teachers and children’s need. The textbook includes topics related to children’s real life such as greeting, alphabet, numbers, colors, fruits, animals, family, day, and month. Whereas the activities are designed joyfully. For example, matching the words, drawing pictures, finding pictures that are different, cutting, and so on. The textbook also used colorful images to attract students’ attention to read and to stimulate their knowledge. The textbook was deemed valid. Considering these findings, the English textbook could be used in teaching English for pre-school children.Keyword: English textbook, teaching English, pre-school children
