Abstract

The Javanese Sandur tradition offers a unique cultural context for developing career adaptability skills in Generation Z, yet its potential remains underexplored in existing career development research. This study employs a qualitative participatory ethnographic design over five months in Karang Village, Tuban Regency, East Java, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews with Sandur practitioners, and document analysis. Data were thematically analyzed using Maxqda with an inductive approach. The findings reveal that active engagement in Sandur cultivates four core adaptability dimensions—concern, control, curiosity, and confidence—through collective performance practices, role exploration, cultural responsibility, and problem-solving within the community. These results demonstrate that Sandur is not only a form of cultural preservation but also a strategic medium for strengthening career adaptability among Generation Z facing rapid technological and social transitions. This research contributes new insights into how traditional cultural practices can serve as contextualized pathways for enhancing career readiness in modern work environments.

Abstract

Recent discussions on counselor development in Indonesia have highlighted the importance of cultural foundations in professional identity formation. However, systematic studies examining local wisdom, particularly the values embodied by Semar, remain limited. This study aimed to explore how Semar’s philosophical values can be internalized in counselors’ self-development and contribute to strengthening guidance and counseling (GC) services. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) with the PRISMA framework, this study analyzed articles obtained from Scopus, Publish or Perish, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar. Of the 84 identified articles, thirteen met the inclusion criteria based on relevance and quality. The findings indicate that Semar’s values—such as wisdom, empathy, sincerity, humility, emotion regulation, and dedication—provide a meaningful foundation for counselor character development. Integrating these values into counselor education and practice may enhance ethical awareness, cultural sensitivity, and humanistic counseling services, contributing to more holistic and culturally grounded counselor development models.

Abstract

This article examines the application of Classical Conditioning and Operant Conditioning theories in behaviorism to modify students' truancy behavior at school. In the era of industrial revolution 4.0, students' active participation is essential to achieve optimal educational goals. Consistent student attendance will help them receive knowledge and form a strong character, while truant behavior will hinder academic and personal development. This research is a literature review that analyzes and summarizes relevant research and theories to gain an in-depth understanding of the topic. Classical Conditioning creates a positive relationship between class attendance and a pleasant experience. Operant Conditioning uses both positive and negative reinforcement, such as providing rewards for consistent attendance and consequences for non-attendance. The implementation of these two approaches in schools shows positive results, increasing attendance and reducing truancy. Thus, this theory provides practical solutions for educators to create an environment that supports positive behavior. This article is expected to provide insight into effective strategies in modifying student behavior.

Abstract

Abstract

Body dissatisfaction is a psychological concern experienced by adolescents and adults and is associated with low self-esteem, eating problems, anxiety, depression, and sociocultural pressure related to unrealistic appearance standards. This study aimed to systematically review the effectiveness, mechanisms, and intervention formats of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for reducing body dissatisfaction. The review followed PRISMA 2020 reporting guidance and synthesized 14 selected articles published between 2015 and 2025 from Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. Study selection was conducted through identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion stages, while methodological quality and risk of bias were appraised qualitatively using the principles of the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) 2018. The findings indicate that CBT generally shows beneficial effects in reducing body dissatisfaction and improving positive body image, particularly through cognitive restructuring, emotion regulation, behavioral exercises, and exposure-based techniques. Group-based CBT appears useful for strengthening social support and self-acceptance, whereas digital CBT offers brief and flexible access for adolescents and young adults. However, the evidence should be interpreted cautiously because several studies used small samples, pre-experimental designs, short follow-up periods, and heterogeneous outcome measures. Therefore, CBT can be considered a promising intervention, but stronger randomized studies and culturally diverse trials are still needed.____________________________________________________________________Fenomena body dissatisfaction merupakan permasalahan psikologis yang dialami remaja dan dewasa, serta berkaitan dengan rendahnya harga diri, gangguan makan, kecemasan, depresi, dan tekanan sosial akibat standar penampilan yang tidak realistis.
