Abstract

Coronavirus disease also known as Covid-19 forces society to adapt and change to encounter and stop its spread. Maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness is the method suggested by WHO and the government for dealing with the pandemic. Islam has taught about the virtue of cleanliness in the Quran and hadith long before the Covid-19 pandemic. Likewise, religious authorities such as the MUI issued a fatwa on the topic long before the coronavirus arrived in Indonesia. This research used the literature review method to understand Muslim society's awareness of cleanliness and the impact of Covid-19 on its behaviors. It discovered that the ideal expected of Islam to be aware of cleanliness still showed a gap over the reality that occurred, particularly in Indonesia, which has the world's largest Muslim population. However, the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has had a positive impact on personal cleanliness. According to a BPS survey, the majority of respondents are more likely to adopt hygiene behavior. Furthermore, Islamic organizations such as MUI, Muhammadiyah, and NU have long emphasized the importance of maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness. One of the lessons of the Covid-19 pandemic is the importance of cleanliness, particularly in daily life.

Abstract

This study, in addition to describing the emergence of artists as religious people in Instagram social media, will also explain the discourse that emerged on this phenomenon. This study is a qualitative descriptive type using the netnography method. Data collection in this study was carried out through reading the Instagram social media posts of artists who were active and consistent in uploading religious posts. Therefore, the data in this study is in the form of a classification of the Instagram posts of artists with religious themes in the form of image formats. The analysis in this study uses thematic analysis by emphasizing the development of themes or topics in immersive inductive images. The findings in this study show that the emergence of artists as religious on Instagram social media is not slightly influenced by the identity and choice of the content displayed. The emergence of artists as religious people in Instagram social media has also brought up various kinds of evaluative discourses in the form of pro and contra attitudes from Instagram social media users. So the contestation of meaning in the Instagram posts of artists with the theme of religion is a very important context to be discussed by further studies.

Abstract

The globalization of halal certification bodies in numerous nations indicates that halal issues are on the rise, which bodes well for the industry's expansion prospects. The purpose of this article is to examine the ramifications of halal certification on Indonesian industries, with a specific focus on the culinary and tourism sectors. By conducting a comprehensive literature review and employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, this research compiled data from pertinent scholarly journals, books, periodicals, and electronic media, including the official websites of the LPPOM-MUI and BPJPH assembly. The results of the study underscore the favorable consequences that halal certification can have on the development of the halal sector and the economy of Indonesia. In addition to providing consumers with information and protection regarding the halal status of products, halal certification serves as a mechanism for conducting business in accordance with Sharia principles. Acquiring halal certification confers a distinct competitive advantage upon businesses, bolstering consumer trust and generating amplified advantages. Moreover, this facilitates the government's efforts to stimulate the Indonesian economy and gain access to the worldwide halal food market. It is established that halal certification increases demand for halal products, thereby solidifying the halal industry's position as a major participant on the international stage. The implication of this research is for business actors and the government that halal certification strengthens the gaining position of a product.

Abstract

The study explores the causes of the controversy between the Muhammadiyah and the State in the policy of ecological law in Indonesia. The exploration uses methods of normative law research with conceptual approaches and philosophy of law. The results of this study show that the contestation of the Muhammadiyah and the State in ecological law politics in Indonesia is caused by the first factor of epistemological differences in legal policy, the epistemology of Muhammadiyah in line with the Islamic ecological concepts of Tauhid, Khilafah, Amanah, Halal Haram, Balance and Misconduct. This epistemology differs from what the state practices, namely industrialization, which is reflected in the birth of some legislative regulations that are considered ecologically unfair. Both paradigm differences, Muhammadiyah advances theoantroposentrism. As God's representative on earth, Muhammadiyah takes precedence over a prophetic perspective. The State paradigm also in practice needs to industrialize for economic growth, so that in practice there is controversy in legal politics. In practice, the controversy led to a change in the political direction of ecological law in Indonesia as Muhammadiyah succeeded in conducting judicial review, criticizing state policy to advocating the law against societies in conflict ecological sector

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the structural barriers faced by the PKB political party in promoting its members as presidential and vice-presidential candidates from 2004 to 2019. Additionally, the research aims to explore the political strategies employed by the PKB that resulted in the absence of its members in the highest democratic contests. Structural policies play a crucial role in determining political steps, taking into consideration both internal and external conditions. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, combining data from interviews and documents, supported by field observations. Interview data serves as preliminary findings guiding the discovery of document data, which is further elaborated through observations. The findings indicate that the absence of PKB members in presidential and vice-presidential contests is directly attributed to a strategic decision made in 2008 to consolidate internal party divisions. The logical reasons behind PKB’s political strategy include strengthening the party’s financial stability and choosing to remain within the power circle. The ingenuity of PKB’s elite in addressing structural obstacles and turning them into a political opportunity by consolidating internal cadre and rebuilding relationships with grassroots stakeholders.

Abstract

Since its appearance at the end of 2019, Covid-19 has become a big problem for all countries in the world. There are many perceptions that arise in the community regarding the origin of the emergence of the Covid-19 virus, both from a scientific and conspiracy perspective. Indonesia as a country with a Muslim-majority population, there are not a few perceptions that have emerged regarding this outbreak, even from some of them linking the emergence of the virus to religion. This paper aims to find out the public's perception of the current pandemic situation from a religious point of view and the entry of information from the media as well as policies that have been carried out by the government in the process of dealing with Covid-19. The method used is to use a survey essay as a substitute for interviews with limited access to distance (social distancing). The data obtained were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of this study show that most of the public's perceptions (54%) view the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak as a test, as much as 38% see it as a disaster, and as much as 2% see it as a curse, and the rest choose not to answer. Keywords: Perception, Muslim community, Covis-19, test, calamity, curse.

Abstract

The urgency of this research lies in the need to understand the trends, contributions, and dynamics of women's political participation globally. This article aims to map studies that focus on women's political participation. Research methods include bibliometric analysis with data sources from the Scopus database. The study's findings reflect significant growth in women's political participation research, especially in recent years, with distribution varying by country and research theme. The research findings also show that although there are themes that have received attention, there are still areas that need to be explored further, such as intersectionality, gender equality, gender, and the impact of social media that provide insight into the complexity of women's political participation issues. This study recommends the need for increased research and local understanding of the factors influencing women's political participation in Indonesia to strengthen women's role in politics by learning from other countries that have successfully implemented inclusive policies. In addition, by involving various parties, including the government, research institutions, and civil society, Indonesia can create an environment that supports, empowers, and encourages women's political participation optimally. The implications of these findings not only help shape academic discourse, but also lay the foundation for concrete efforts to achieve gender equality and women's empowerment in the wider political sphere.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the evidence of the failure of Islamic political parties to encourage their best cadres to become national leaders (president and vice president) in direct presidential election contests from 2004-2019. Over the course of the past four election cycles, candidates affiliated with Islamic political parties have been notably absent, instead opting to form coalitions in support of candidates from other political factions.  A political anomaly, where the majority of the population adheres to the Islamic faith, yet candidates from Islamic political parties are conspicuously absent. The research was conducted using the literature study method and analyzed using John Dewey's pragmatism theory approach which was strengthened by Hanna Pitkin's representation theory. Data findings are corroborated by factor analysis of the failure of Islamic political parties using NVIVO 12Plus. Data were obtain from credible offline and online sources. The main findings of this research show four key pieces of evidence. Firstly, an overview of the electoral support landscape for Islamic political parties in direct presidential elections over the four periods highlights their dominance only in the 2004 elections, followed by subsequent declines. Second, the map of the coalition of Islamic political parties in every direct election underscores their diminished influence and inability to construct an Islamic polar coalition. Third, mapping the votes of support for Islamic political parties in every election which results in stagnation of support for Islamic political parties with no more than 32%. Lastly, the study identifies the contributing factors to the failure of Islamic political parties.  Islamic political parties need to formulate a comprehensive cadre system to produce cadres who are competent and have high electability to win the presidential election.
