Abstract

This study aims to describe students' creative thinking skills in mathematics. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research. The population in this study were junior high school level students in Bengkalis Regency, Riau while the sample was 59 students in the Bathin Solapan District and 50 students from the Bandar Laksamana sub-district. The sampling technique in this study was simple random sampling. The data collection technique in this study was a survey using a questionnaire instrument. Before the instrument is used, the instrument in the form of a questionnaire is validated in terms of content and construct. In terms of content, validity analysis uses the Aiken formula and CFA First Order, while construct validity uses CFA Second Order. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistics. The results obtained from the analysis of students' creative thinking abilities in mathematics at the junior high school level show that the indicators of Elaboration, Flexibility, Originality, and Fluency in students' creative thinking abilities, obtain a good category percentage of 22.02% and a bad category of 77.98% .

Abstract

Student engagement is the most crucial factor in learning activities because it is the main factor in improving student learning outcomes in class. This study aims to develop instruments and evaluate student involvement in learning mathematics to achieve maximum learning outcomes at school. The population in this study was all high school students in Riau Province. The sample is 150 high school students selected by multiple-stage random sampling based on high, medium, and low student achievement levels. Data analysis in this study was carried out four times: (1) data analysis based on the results of expert assessment of the instrument with the Aiken formula; (2) small-scale validity data analysis with first-order CFA; (3) large-scale data analysis with second-order CFA analysis; (4) descriptive analysis to see the categorization of student learning engagement in Riau Province whether in very good, good, not good and very not good. The analysis using the Aiken formula shows that 24 out of 27 items developed are valid. The first-order CFA analysis shows that the 24 items distributed are valid. The second-order analysis shows that the construct validity of the learning involvement variable is valid and reliable. The analysis of learning involvement results shows that students' involvement in learning mathematics is in the not-good category. The Riau provincial government needs to maximize student learning engagement which can be done by regulating students' effective study hours at school and home. Collaboration between parents and schools must be improved so parents can control student learning outside of school.

Abstract

Penilaian dalam dunia pendidikan merupakan bagian yang paling penting dalam dunia pendidikan karena tanpa penilaian maka keberhasilan peserta didik tidak dapat diketahui dan strategi perbaikan tidak dapat dirancang. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman secara utuh kepada mahasiswa dan dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. Metode pengabdian adalah ceramah yang memberikan materi penilaian formatif dan sumatif yang dapat digunakan untuk menilai proses pembelajaran di kelas dari awal hingga akhir pertemuan. Layanan ini menghasilkan pemahaman utuh dari mahasiswa dan dosen tentang bagaimana melakukan strategi penilaian formatif dan sumatif. Mahasiswa dan dosen sangat antusias mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian ini karena pengabdian ini memberikan reward kepada mahasiswa yang mampu menjawab pertanyaan seputar penilaian formatif dan sumatif.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the impact of education decentralization through the local curriculum in improving senior secondary school students' vocational and economic skills. This research uses a mixed methods approach with a sequential exploratory design. This design applied a qualitative approach followed by a quantitative approach. Data collection with the qualitative approach used in-depth interviews, while the quantitative approach used questionnaires and documentation of practical exam results. The participants in the qualitative approach were the vice principal and the traditional cookery subject teacher. The sample in the quantitative approach was students who took traditional cookery subjects. Qualitative data analysis used the Miles and Huberman formula, namely data display, data reduction, and conclusions, while quantitative data analysis used descriptive quantitative and MANOVA. The results showed that the impact of decentralization through the local content curriculum on improving students' vocational and economic skills was in the "good" category. The impact of decentralizing education through the local curriculum can reduce the dropout rate of poor students. MANOVA results showed no difference in the impact of the local curriculum on vocational skills across the six schools. However, there is a significant difference in the impact of the local curriculum on students' economic improvement in the six schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors influencing the students' mathematics performance in higher education in Riau Province. The research population was all students in higher education in Riau Province majoring in mathematics. The samples of this research were some students in higher education majoring in mathematics education which were taken randomly with a proportional random sampling approach. The instrument in this research was a questionnaire developed and validated by experts and distributed to mathematics education students. The data analysis used in this research was path analysis. The results showed that there was an effect of learning motivation on mathematics performance, there was no effect of learning interest on mathematics performance, with a T Value of 1.28, (12) there was no effect of self-efficacy on mathematics performance, with T Values of 1.38, there was an effect of self-regulated on mathematics performance, with T Values of 2.23, and (15) there was no effect of learning involvement on mathematics performance, with T Value of 1.39 The dominant and significant factor in influencing the students' mathematics performance in higher education in Riau province during the COVID-19 Pandemic was learning motivation and self-regulation.

Abstract

In digital era, motivation become the best variable to increase student learning outcome. This research aims to examine the influence of teachers' technological abilities, parental support, teacher competence, learning environment, interest in learning on learning outcomes with the moderating variable learning motivation of junior high school students in Riau province. The population in this study were all junior high school students in Pekanbaru were taken randomly using a simple random sampling technique, the number of samples taken was based on 9 schools using the Slovin formula, so that 270 students were obtained from the 9 schools. The data collection technique used was a survey and the instrument was a closed questionnaire. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive testing, mediation testing, and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of the t test in the table statistics, it can be seen that there is no influence of teacher technology abilities, teacher competence and interest in learning on learning outcomes. Parental support and the learning environment have a significant effect on learning outcomes. Learning motivation is only able to moderate the variables of teacher technology ability, parental support, teacher competence on learning outcomes.

Abstract

Numerasi adalah kemampuan penting bagi siswa dan merupakan dasar untuk kesuksesan di masa depan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen dan mengevaluasi keterampilan numerasi siswa di 10 sekolah di Pekanbaru. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode R & D dan Survei. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa sekolah menengah pertama di Pekanbaru. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 430 siswa yang dipilih dengan metode multiple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan survei, dengan instrumen utama berupa tes pilihan ganda. Tujuh analisis data digunakan dalam penelitian ini: validitas konten, reliabilitas Cronbach Alpha, Analisis Faktor Konfirmatori (CFA), reliabilitas konstruk, dan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis validitas konten terdapat empat item yang perlu direvisi karena kalimat yang ambigu. Reliabilitas Cronbach Alpha diperoleh sebesar 0,872 dengan kategori yang diterima. Analisis CFA menunjukkan bahwa 19 indikator sebagai konstruk merupakan kategori yang valid. Secara keseluruhan, keterampilan numerasi siswa dari dua belas kabupaten/kota di Provinsi Riau masih berada pada kategori yang kurang baik.  Numeracy is a crucial skill for students and serves as a foundation for future success. This study aims to develop instruments and evaluate students' numeracy skills in 10 schools in Pekanbaru. The research employed a combination of Research and Development (R&D) and survey methods. The population consisted of all junior high school students in Pekanbaru. A total of 430 students were selected as samples using multiple random sampling techniques. Data were collected through a survey approach, with the main instrument being a multiple-choice test. Seven types of data analysis were employed: content validity, Cronbach's Alpha reliability, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), construct reliability, and descriptive statistics. The results indicated that four items required revision due to ambiguous wording based on the content validity analysis. The Cronbach’s Alpha reliability was 0.872, which is considered acceptable. CFA analysis confirmed that 19 indicators were valid as constructs. Overall, the students’ numeracy skills from twelve regencies/cities in Riau Province are still in the low category.

Abstract

Learning outcomes are influenced by the process carried out during learning. The learning process is carried out by applying innovative learning models/approaches.This study aims to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on the mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students at Siak Hulu Junior High School. Employing a development research design combined with a pseudo-experimental methodology, the research involved a population of six classes (VIII1 to VIII6). A purposive sampling technique was utilized, resulting in two selected classes: VIII3, comprising 32 students as the control group, and VIII4, also with 32 students, serving as the experimental group. The development phase produced a valid and practical student worksheet designed to facilitate the RME approach. The findings indicated that students who engaged with the RME approach demonstrated significantly better mathematics learning outcomes compared to those who experienced conventional teaching methods. Statistical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the RME approach, suggesting that it not only enhances understanding but also improves overall performance in mathematics. This study concludes that the implementation of the RME approach positively influences the mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students in SMP 6 Kampar Regency, highlighting its potential as an effective pedagogical strategy in mathematics education. The research contributes to providing evidence for the adoption of realistic approaches in classroom settings to foster improved student engagement and achievement in mathematics. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa pada materi SPLDV di kelas VIII UPT SMPN 1 Siak Hulu. Partisipan penelitian merupakan siswa kelas VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, dan VIII E dengan jumlah keseluruhan 123 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes tertulis dalam bentuk essay. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu soal materi SPLDV yang disesuaikan dengan indikator kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif yaitu dengan mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam mengerjakan soal, serta membandingkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis ditinjau dari kelas, jenis kelamin (laki-laki dan perempuan), pekerjaan orang tua (ayah dan ibu), pendidikan orang tua (ayah dan ibu), dan mata pelajaran yang disenangi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh hasil 27% pada kategori tinggi, 52% pada kategori sedang, dan 21% pada kategori rendah, oleh karena persentase terbesar terdapat pada kategori sedang maka kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa di UPT SMPN 1 Siak Hulu tergolong sedang. Serta perbedaan perbandingan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis hanya terdapat di jenis kelamin, pekerjaan orang tua yaitu pekerjaan ayah, dan pada mata pelajaran yang disenangi.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low motivation and learning outcomes of students in Pancasila education subjects in class X-3 at SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Selatan. One solution that can be done is to use the Wordwall Platform media as a source of learning, media, teaching aids, and interesting assessment tools in the world of education. From the results of the analysis of class research data (PTK) using Wordwall media to increase motivation and learning outcomes in Pancasila Education Lessons on the Principles of Mutual Cooperation in Diversity in class X-3 SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Selatan, it can be concluded that there is an increase in student motivation and learning outcomes by 33% between cycles I and II with the realized completion criteria increasing from 50% to 83%. Thus, students successfully achieved the criteria of completion applied in schools, namely 75 and the success indicators made by researchers of ?80% can achieve better results indicating that by implementing Wordwall media, it can improve the motivation and learning outcomes of class X-3 students of SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Selatan.
