Abstract

Background:Maternal sociodemographic characteristics play a crucial role in identifying preterm labor, enabling early intervention to prevent its occurrence and recurrence. Understanding these characteristics can support the development of preventive strategies and improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Objective:This study aims to determine whether there are significant differences in the sociodemographic characteristics of mothers experiencing term and preterm labor across hospitals in Makassar City. Method:This study employed an observational analytical design involving 257 mothers who had undergone term and preterm labor in 17 hospitals. Data were collected using the Health Card for Preterm Pregnant Women (KASIHKU) instrument and analyzed through an independent samples t-test to compare means between the two groups. Results:Significant differences were observed in the sociodemographic characteristics between term and preterm labor groups across 11 variables, with five variables showing a p-value < 0.05: Body Mass Index (BMI) (CI95%: 0.44–0.66, p < 0.000), history of preterm labor (CI95%: 0.08–0.23, p < 0.000), presence of flour albus (CI95%: 0.32–0.54, p < 0.000), HIV/AIDS status (CI95%: 0.07–0.00, p < 0.039), and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) score (CI95%: 0.02–0.18, p < 0.009). Conclusion:Maternal sociodemographic characteristics, specifically BMI, history of preterm labor, presence of flour albus, HIV/AIDS status, and EPDS score, show significant differences between term and preterm labor groups. These findings provide a foundation for future research and the development of targeted interventions to prevent preterm labor based on maternal sociodemographic factors.  Keywords:Preterm labor; Sociodemographic characteristics; Hospital

Abstract

This research was quasi-experimental which aims to know the influence of mix models learning (TGT-AIR) towards mathematics learning outcomes viewed from learning motivation. The population in this research was Eighth-grade students at one of Junior High School in Makassar. The sample consisted of two classes, namely class VIII-2 that gave treatment by using mix models learning (TGT-AIR), and class VIII-10 as a comparison class taught by using direct learning model selected by cluster random sampling technique. The variables in this research were learning models, learning motivation, and mathematics learning outcomes. The research instruments used were observation sheets, questionnaires about leaning motivation in mathematics, and mathematics learning outcomes tests. The data obtained were analyzed in descriptive and inferential through t-test for two independent samples. Based on the results of the t-test, it was found that: (a) there was a difference of mix models learning (TGT-AIR) and direct learning model on mathematics learning outcomes; (b) there was an effect of motivation on students' mathematics learning outcomes in the implementation of mix models learning (TGT-AIR); (c) there was no effect of motivation on students' mathematics learning outcomes in the implementation of direct learning model, (d) there was a difference of mix models learning (TGT-AIR) and direct learning model on mathematics learning outcomes for students who are highly motivated in learning; and (e) there was no difference of mix models learning (TGT-AIR) and direct learning model on mathematics learning outcomes for students who are low motivated in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the errors made by the students in solving mathematics word problems of arithmetic sequences and series. This research type is qualitative descriptive. Subject this research is students of SMA Negeri in Makassar grade XIth MIPA 4. Respondents of this research are selected based on the analysis of the test data observed from the error location based on polya steps as much as 3 students. The guidelines used to perform the analysis of types of errors are the troubleshooting Polya steps. Data collection techniques using the method of test and interview then through the three stages of data analysis, namely the condensation of data, presentation of data, and withdrawal conclusion. The results of the research obtained that in understanding the problem polya step the students do fact error type, in devising a plan polya step students doing the concept error type, in the step of polya carrying out the plan students perform the type of error operation and principle, in the step of polya looking back students do the kind of error principle. The results show that the errors that dominant students do that in the step of polya understanding the problem with this type of errors of fact and in the step of polya correcting back to the type of error principle. This is due to the ability of students in understanding the symbols on the row material and the arithmetic progression is still lacking, students are not accustomed to correcting back answers obtained, and students are not accustomed to write down the final conclusion.
