Abstract

Obesity has become an epidemic around the world. High fat diet (HFD) have been implemented as one of intervention to battle obesity. Uncouple protein 1 (UCP1) is one of the key factor on energy expenditure. The aim of this experiment is to see the macronutrients composition on weight loss and UCP1 expression in the visceral fat. Fifty male mice, 2-3 months old, 18-30 grams, were put in five different groups. K1 were fed (20% protein, 62.0% carbohydrate, 12% fat), K2 (60% protein, 0% carbohydrate, 30% fat), K3 (45% protein, 0% carbohydrate, 45% fat), K4 (30% protein, 0% carbohydrate, 60% fat), K5 (15% protein, 0% carbohydrate, 75% fat). The experiment was done in four weeks, mice body weight was measured every week. UCP1 expression seen using immunohistochemistry staining was measured at the end of the fourth week. Significant weight loss was achieved by K4 (-9.60±3.81) gram by the end of week four (p<0.05). K4 had the least amount of visceral fat. The result was that K4 achieved a significant visceral fat mass (0.02±0.06) gram compared to K1 (0.53±0.08) gram. Compared to other groups K5 expressed UCP1 more than the others (3.78±3.72) cphfp. HFD fed groups produced significant weight loss, group that had the greatest weight loss is K4. Meanwhile, each group had a variety of UCP1 expression.

Abstract

The use of a ketogenic diet with an increased proportion of fat is rampant lately, both as a therapy or even lifestyle. The use of a ketogenic diet is feared to cause dyslipidemia. It will also lead to atherosclerosis and thrombosis. This study aimed to determine the effect of a high-fat diet on HDL, LDL, and HDL/LDL ratio in mice. Thirty male Mus Musculus, 2-3 mo, 15-25 g divided into five groups diet. K1 (12% fat, 20% protein, 62% carb), K2 (30% fat, 60%protein), K3 (45% fat, 45% protein), K4 (60% fat, 30% protein) and K5 (75% fat, 15% protein) for 4 weeks. Feed and water by adlibitum. Blood for serum was taken from the ventricle, while in the measurement of HDL serum level, the LDL used ELISA. Normality of data analyzed by Shapiro Wilk, and homogeneity by Levene test. HDL serum was analyzed using equality test followed by Games Howell, LDL serum and ratio of HDL/LDL was tested by ANOVA followed by LSD with significance 0,05. HDL serum in K1 (62,50±9.94) mg/dL, K2 (78,40±18,76) mg/dL, K3 (79,00±3,81) mg/dL, K4 (80,00±2,16) mg/dL, and K5 (83,50±5,62) mg/dL with p<0,05 in K1, K2 to K3, K4 and K5. LDL serum in K1 (21,67± 4,80) mg/dL, K2 (23,00±12,70) mg/dL, K3 (18,40±4,34) mg/dL, K4 (24,00 ±1,83) mg/dL and K5 (22,00 ± 4,08) mg/dL with p>0,05. Ratio HDL/LDL K1 (3,01±0,91), K2 (4,10±1,86), K3 (4,53±1,5), K4 (3,35±0,34), and K5 (3,96 ± 1,25) with p>0,05.

Abstract

Excessive eccentric exercise often results in muscle injury, reflected by elevated serum creatine kinase (CK) levels and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). In Indonesia, coffee consumption after exercise has increased, with Dampit Robusta Coffee (DRC)—a local variety rich in caffeine and antioxidants considered a potential aid for recovery. This study evaluated the effect of DRC consumption on biomarkers of muscle damage and perceived soreness. A single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted on 20 healthy untrained men aged 20–25 years, allocated into treatment (n = 10) and control (n = 10) groups. The treatment group consumed brewed DRC (≈200 mg caffeine/day) for five consecutive days, while the control group received placebo (coffee-flavored water). All participants performed a modified YMCA step test as an eccentric exercise protocol. Serum CK levels were measured at 2 and 24 hours post-exercise, and muscle soreness was assessed using a visual analogue scale (VAS). At both 2 and 24 hours, mean CK levels were lower in the DRC group compared with control, but differences were not significant (p > 0.05). However, analysis of CK change (ΔCK) showed a significant between-group difference, with CK decreasing in the DRC group but increasing in the control group (p = 0.031). VAS scores decreased significantly over time within both groups (p = 0.05), but between-group differences remained nonsignificant (p > 0.05). In conclusion, DRC consumption attenuated CK elevation after eccentric exercise, suggesting a protective effect against muscle injury, although its effect on soreness was inconclusive. Further studies with larger and more diverse samples are needed.

Abstract

An active society plays a crucial role in enhancing physical fitness, productivity, and overall quality of life. Data from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) in 2023 indicated a steady decline in sports participation from 2021 to 2023. South Kalimantan ranks second lowest nationwide, with only 16.67% participation and an index score of 0.167. Furthermore, more than 77.13% of Indonesian children and adolescents aged 10 to 15 years were classified as having “low” or “very low” fitness levels. These conditions underscore the urgent need for health promotion through physical activity to support the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. This community engagement program aimed to increase sports participation among school-age children in Banjarmasin through the innovative educational media CAKRAM RAGA (Sports Reference Disc) and educational videos. This educational media provides several options for physical exercise for children, allowing teachers and students to select a package of exercises for their daily exercise program. The training was conducted in the form of a seminar and workshop, during which participants were trained to use the CAKRAM RAGA media. The program took place on August 21–22, 2025, and involved physical education teachers, classroom teachers, and students, in collaboration with STIKES Suaka Insan Banjarmasin, with a total of 46 participants. Evaluation results demonstrated an improvement in participant knowledge regarding recommended physical activity, sport injury prevention, and nutrition for children, with the mean pre-test score increasing from 87.85 to 89.63 on the post-test. Although the improvement was only about 2%, it indicated that participants already had a strong baseline understanding, and the activities effectively reinforced existing concepts. Overall activity evaluation results showed that 98% of respondents strongly agreed that CAKRAM RAGA was easy to understand and use, while 94% strongly agreed that it was suitable for implementation in schools. Moreover, 98% expressed motivation to encourage daily student exercise after recognizing its importance. In conclusion, the implementation of the innovative educational media CAKRAM RAGA proved to be effective, user-friendly, and received highly positive feedback from participants. It is recommended that similar programs be expanded to more schools to broaden their benefits and promote an active, healthy generation in support of Indonesia Emas 2045.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of women in the film Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala using a Marxist feminist approach. The study originates from the issue of women’s subordination caused by social, political, and economic structures rooted in patriarchy and capitalism. The objective of this article is to describe how women—particularly the character Jeng Yah—are portrayed through physical, psychological, social, political, and economic dimensions in the film. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through the observation and documentation of relevant scenes, dialogues, and visual contexts. The findings indicate that women in the film experience various forms of structural oppression, including restricted mobility, male-dominated decision-making, economic exploitation, and social pressures that influence their self-image. These results reveal that the representation of women in Gadis Kretek reflects unequal power relations and highlights women's efforts to resist systemic injustices.
