Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of mortality worldwide, making accurate and early detection a critical factor for effective medical intervention and improved patient prognosis. While machine learning (ML) offers promising tools for predictive diagnostics, many existing studies rely on single-algorithm approaches or less-than-robust validation methods, thereby limiting the generalizability and real-world applicability of their findings. This study aims to conduct a rigorous, head-to-head comparative evaluation of multiple machine learning algorithms for the multi-class classification of heart disease, with the goal of identifying the most effective and reliable model for this complex clinical task.We utilized a private dataset comprising 300 patient medical records, each described by 11 clinically relevant features. To ensure a robust and unbiased evaluation, a stratified 5-fold cross-validation methodology was employed. Five widely-used classification algorithms were evaluated: Naïve Bayes (NB), Logistic Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), a C5.0-analog Decision Tree (DT), and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Model performance was assessed using standard metrics, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score.The comparative analysis revealed that the Naïve Bayes algorithm delivered superior performance, achieving the highest mean accuracy of 43.33% (±4.22%). It also led in other key metrics with a mean precision of 43.40%, recall of 43.64%, and an F1-score of 41.26%. Other algorithms, such as Logistic Regression (40.67% accuracy) and Random Forest (39.33% accuracy), demonstrated competitive performance but were ultimately surpassed by the Naïve Bayes model in this specific multi-class classification context. This research underscores the critical importance of employing robust validation techniques and comprehensive comparative analyses to identify optimal models for clinical applications. The Naïve Bayes algorithm emerges as a strong candidate for developing a reliable clinical decision support system for the early differentiation of various heart conditions, providing a foundation for future data-driven diagnostic tools.

Abstract

Observation skills and curiosity are crucial for elementary students’ learning, but remain underdeveloped in Indonesia, where PISA (2021) reported that 56% of students struggle to identify key information in texts. This quasi-experimental study involved 80 fourth-grade students, divided into two groups: experimental and control. Over four weeks, the experimental group received lessons that integrated Dual Coding (text-image pairing and color-coded diagrams) and Chunking (breaking content into small, thematic units)—a 25-item, validated test measured both skills. Results from independent t-tests showed significant improvements (p < 0.05) across all indicators, with an average score increase of 18% in the experimental group. These findings confirm that structured multimodal strategies enhance visual-verbal processing, analytical thinking, and exploratory motivation. Practically, the study suggests that primary school curricula should incorporate cognitively ergonomic techniques to foster deeper engagement and higher-order thinking, offering a replicable model for inclusive and practical instructional design. Keywords: cognitive ergonomics, dual coding, chunking, observation skills, curiosity

Abstract

Stunting Stunting is a malnutrition that results in impaired growth and development of the child. As a form of stunting prevention efforts, UPT Puskesmas Rappang introduced the Pulmonary Botting program. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of such programs. The study used a quantitative approach with a Cross-Sectional study design. Data were collected through questionnaires/questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between each indicator and stunting prevention efforts. The results of the analysis showed that the effectiveness of the program goal indicator with P-Value 0.016 0.05 and Program Monitoring with P-Value 0.108 0.05 meaning there was no significant relationship. These findings suggest that the effectiveness of the Lung Botting program in stunting prevention is strongly influenced by the successful socialization of the program and the clarity of the program goals set. This study is expected to provide benefits in improving program effectiveness, in particular by focusing on strengthening program monitoring indicators and target accuracy, so that programs can be more targeted and better supervised to achieve optimal results in stunting prevention.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ responses and learning outcomes in STEM education through a Project Based Learning (PjBL) approach focused on natural disaster simulations in fifth-grade elementary students. Although a digital STEM based disaster learning model has been shown to significantly improve elementary students’ disaster adaption abilities through quasi experimental research, existing studies generally emphasize digital simulations rather than real context thematic project experiences in primary schools. Therefore, the novelty of this research lies in the integration of STEM and PjBL within thematic learning for disaster context education, addressing a gap in studies at the elementary level, particulary in Indonesia. This descriptive quantitative study involved 15 students and employed learning outcome assessments and student response questionnaires. Results revealed that all students achieved mastery learning with an average score of 94.73. Student responses were highly positive, with an average questionnaire score of 3.80 out of 4, indicating strong engagement and improved conceptual understanding during the disaster simulation project. The integrated STEM-based PjBL approach fostered active student involvement, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of this model in enhancing elementary science learning quality and provide a promising approach for thematic, student centered instruction in disaster education contexts.
