Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implementation of aquatic learning and identify the factors that hinder swimming instruction at SMP Prima Cendekia Islamic. The study employed a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method. The research informants consisted of the Vice Principal for Curriculum, a Physical Education teacher, and one student selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through triangulation of interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed that the implementation of aquatic learning had been carried out effectively through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Learning activities were conducted through practical sessions in a swimming pool using demonstration and direct practice methods, enabling students to master basic swimming techniques while enhancing their confidence and courage. The main obstacles identified included limited instructional time, financial constraints, differences in students' initial swimming abilities, and fear of water activities. Nevertheless, these challenges were addressed through teacher guidance and support from the school, allowing aquatic learning to be implemented effectively. Abstract

Women’s participation in physical activities at the gym is still limited by gender inequality, body stereotypes, and social and psychological barriers, especially in mixed gym environments. This study aims to synthesize scientific evidence on the role of women-only gyms in increasing women’s participation in physical exercise through a Systematic Literature Review. Literature searches were conducted on Scopus with empirical studies selected following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A narrative synthesis was used due to the heterogeneity of research designs and participation indicators. The review results show that body image pressure, objectification, appearance anxiety, and issues of access and cost are major barriers to women’s participation, while women-only gyms have the potential to provide a safer, more supportive environment and increase motivation and social support. It was concluded that women-only gyms are a promising environmental strategy to increase women’s exercise participation, although their effectiveness depends on cultural context and program design and requires longitudinal evidence support.

Abstract

Education is an important factor in improving the quality of human resources, and teachers play a strategic role in determining the success of the learning process. One of the essential competencies that teachers must possess is the ability to develop high-quality lesson planning as a guide for conducting effective and well-directed learning activities. This study aims to analyze teachers' competencies in developing quality lesson plans and identify the factors influencing those competencies. The study employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from national and international scientific journals, books, and educational policy documents published between 2020 and 2025. The analysis process utilized the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework, which includes identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion stages. The findings indicate that teachers' competencies in lesson planning are influenced by pedagogical competence, curriculum mastery, teaching experience, professional training, and the ability to understand students' characteristics. Teachers with strong lesson-planning competencies are more capable of designing effective, innovative, adaptive, and student-centered learning processes. Conversely, inadequate lesson-planning competence may negatively affect the effectiveness of learning implementation. This study also emphasizes that the quality of lesson planning is not merely determined by the completeness of instructional documents but also by teachers' ability to design contextual learning experiences that align with students' needs and the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum.
