Abstract

The author observes that the use of belt grinding is still rare in the writer's own environment, both in the fields of education and small industries, because there are still many people who are fixated on ordinary grinders, and think that ordinary grinders are better in all work. The development of belt grinders has changed people's perspectives through the development that the authors have done, with increasing belt grinding functions through development which will certainly make belt grinders even more useful. This belt burrs are made and developed through pre-existing belt grinding shapes. The result of this development is a belt grinder which has a function more than the belt grinder which is already before. This belt burrs has three types of work functions, namely vertical, horizontal, and cutter, and also features speed control. With the development that the author does, of course, it will change people's perspectives because belt grinding has a function that is better than before and can better help the work of a grinding process.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of cooling load on condenser performance in the  Steam Power Plant. The condenser, as a heat exchanger, plays a critical role in condensing steam from the turbine back into liquid form, thus maintaining the continuous cycle of the steam power system. Survey-based research was conducted, with data collected on steam and cooling water temperatures at various stages. The steam inlet and outlet temperatures were recorded at 514°C and 465°C, respectively, with cooling water entering at 32.9°C and exiting at 38.9°C at a flow rate of 100 m³/h. Using the Log Mean Temperature Difference method, initial and final temperature differences were calculated at 453°C and 465°C. Results suggest that tube fouling or leakage contributes to declining condenser efficiency, which can significantly reduce power plant performance. This study highlights the importance of regular maintenance and monitoring of condenser units to optimize thermal efficiency and power generation output.

Abstract

Air conditioning is not only important for the comfort of occupants in a building but also for various industrial processes. In the air conditioning process, a device called an Air Conditioner (AC) is required. The AC load can originate from inside the room and from outside the room. This study aims to determine the influence of increased cooling load from outside the room on the distribution of temperature and air humidity inside the conditioned room. The method used in this study involved conditioning four rooms. Two rooms of almost the same size were equipped with two AC units each, while the other two rooms used one AC unit each. Temperature and air humidity data inside the rooms were recorded every 20 minutes, as well as the outside air temperature. Dry bulb thermometer (Tdb) and wet bulb thermometer (Twb) were used to record temperature and humidity data, along with an environmeter. The research data were processed using available equations and with the assistance of a psychrometric chart. The research findings revealed that the average distribution of temperature and air humidity in the meeting room and office headroom of the Pertamina DP-LPG Office in Binjai was 20°C-23°C and 59%-65%. For the distribution office and sales service room of the Pertamina Fuel Filling Terminal in Kisaran, the distribution of temperature and air humidity was 25°C-29°C and 62%-66%. From the test results, it can be concluded that the distribution of temperature and air humidity is highly influenced by the capacity of the AC units and the cooling load entering the room.

Abstract

The demand for electrical energy is increasing. Electricity supply in Indonesia is not yet evenly distributed. Indonesia's electrification ratio is only 99.63%. Generally, areas that have not been electrified are rural areas. It is necessary to utilize water energy sources for power generation. This research was conducted with a simulation tool from a micro hydro power plant with a crossflow turbine. The use of this turbine is because it is easy in terms of cost and manufacturing. The research was given an input source from a pump with a double pump system and a single pump system. Each system is given a variation of 100%, 75% and 50% openings. Data collection time is carried out for 90 minutes on each system and opening. From the research results obtained current, voltage, and output power. In the double pump system with 100% opening is relatively greater than 75% and 50% opening in the same system and in the single pump system. The maximum output current obtained in this study is 0.09 amperes with a double pump system opening 100% and the minimum output value is 0.02 amperes in a single pump system opening 50%. The maximum output power obtained in this study was 1.81 watts with a 100% opening dual pump system and a minimum output value of 0.32 watts in a 50% opening single pump system. The maximum output voltage obtained was 21.5 volts at 50% opening of the dual pump system, and the minimum output voltage was 15.8 volts at 50% opening of the single pump system. A large discharge will provide a large current, voltage and power output because it is able to crush the turbine with a relatively large speed. Discharge will affect the pressure and flow that occurs in the pipe, because the amount of discharge will be linear with the amount of pressure. The use of double pumps will get high efficiency with a large discharge. The greatest efficiency occurs when the double pump system.
