Abstract

This research aims to determine the comparison of secondary metabolite levels in vetiver root plants and to develop a bulletin media expected to support the teaching of Natural Product Chemistry. The research method used is an experiment and the 4D (define, design, develop, disseminate) Research and Development model by Thiagarajan. The research was conducted in a chemistry laboratory, analytical laboratory. The distribution of questionnaire sheets was in the classroom. Vetiver root extracts used in this study were sourced from plants based on shading factors. The experiment was carried out in two stages, namely phytochemical screening and GC-MS analysis. Based on the conducted tests, it was found that the percentage of secondary metabolite content in vetiver root extracts from unshaded samples was higher compared to shaded samples. In the media development, purposive sampling technique was used and the sample consisted of students from the 2020 Chemistry Education program in the seventh-semester, who had programmed and attended Natural Product Chemistry lectures. Data collection for the development of the bulletin media was carried out using validity sheets and student response questionnaires. The validity test conducted by experts obtained a validity value of 0.9, which falls into the highly valid category. In the limited trial, a practicality percentage of 86% was obtained, which falls into the highly practical category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the bulletin learning media is suitable and practical for use in the learning process.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving 21st century, fostering analytical thinking skills has become a critical objective in science education, enabling students to solve complex problems and adapt to knowledge-driven economies. This systematic literature review, covering research from 2013 to 2024 and focusing on Scopus-indexed journals (Q1–Q3), aims to identify trends in analytical thinking research, explore effective pedagogical approaches, and analyze methodological diversity in the field. Using the PRISMA framework, 60 peer-reviewed studies were systematically selected and analyzed through both quantitative and qualitative methods, with thematic coding and tools like Vosviewer employed to uncover patterns and themes. The findings highlight a surge in research during 2020–2021, driven by the global shift to remote learning, and emphasize the effectiveness of innovative teaching strategies such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), and Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) in fostering analytical skills. The review also underscores the role of technological interventions, such as virtual labs and simulations, in enhancing student engagement and cognitive development. However, gaps were identified, including the need for longitudinal studies and standardized evaluation metrics to assess long-term impacts. The study concludes that integrating evidence-based, scalable strategies across diverse educational contexts is essential for promoting analytical thinking as a core competency. Future research should prioritize interdisciplinary approaches and leverage emerging technologies to address these gaps. These findings provide actionable insights for educators, researchers, and policymakers aiming to advance science education and prepare students for the challenges of a dynamic world.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the Kafah Learning Model as an alternative to making learning meaningful. The research design uses a 4D model, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The Kafah Learning Model for Science developed is Dynamic Fluid Concepts (Airplane Lift). The data was collected with meaningful learning questionnaires and kafah concept understanding tests. The testing stage is the stage of knowing the influence of the Kafah Learning Model on understanding concepts in a kafah manner and knowing the meaningful learning response of prospective teachers. The increase in understanding of the concept is calculated based on the N-Gain and paired t-test.  The results showed that the Kafah Learning Model for Dynamic Fluid Concepts (Airplane Lift) which was developed was valid and reliable, worthy of use in meaningful learning and influential in increasing the understanding of science concepts in kafah.

Abstract

The quality of teacher learning is a major concern in education. Moderation techniques are expected to contribute to improving the quality of teacher learning. Kafah science learning is a thorough learning, prospective teacher students get actual competence for one concept taught. These competencies include religion, science, application and meaningfulness. This research aims to integrate moderation techniques in kafah science learning to improve the quality of learning. The goal will be achieved by conducting experimental research with a one group pretest-postest design. The study involved 38 prospective PGMI UIN Mataram teacher candidates and a lecturer as a research sample. The quality of kafah science learning is measured using kafah science learning observation sheets. Learning observation is carried out by 3 observers to ensure the implementation of learning. Data on critical thinking skills were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results show that the integration of moderation techniques in kafah learning can improve the quality of learning carried out by lecturers
