Abstract

The study of secondary metabolites is the core of Natural Product Chemistry. The process of isolating secondary metabolites from Sasambo plants, which are medicinal plants used by indigenous tribes in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia, has the potential to be integrated into the Natural Product Chemistry Practicum. Students learn how to extract, fractionate, purify, and identify the structure of secondary metabolites through Natural Product Chemistry Practicum. With various alternative actions related to the process of isolating secondary metabolites, these laboratory exercises can be utilized to help students improve their decision-making skills. This study aims to investigate the impact of Natural Product Chemistry Practicum Based on Medicinal Plants Sasambo (NPP-MPS) on students' decision-making skills. This is quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest research design. The participants are 63 students who enrolled in 6th semester students of the chemistry education department at one of the state universities in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, for the 2019/2020 academic year, which were divided into experimental and the control classes. The findings show that the NPP-MPS does positively influences students' decision-making skills.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency for prospective science educators in understanding scientific concepts, applying scientific methods, and making decisions based on scientific evidence. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Ecotourism-Based Field Practicum Model (MPLBE) in improving the scientific literacy of prospective biology teacher students. The subjects of the study were students of the Biology Education study program, FKIP, Mataram University, who took the vertebrate Zoology course. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental group used the MPLBE model that focused on the study of ecology and conservation of the Megapodius reinwardt bird in the Gunung Tunak and Kerandangan Nature Tourism Parks, while the control group followed conventional practicums in the laboratory. The research instrument was a scientific literacy test that had been validated by experts. Quantitative analysis was performed on the effectiveness of the model using N-Gain and the Mann-Whitney Test. The results of the data analysis showed a significant difference in the increase in scientific literacy scores between the experimental and control groups. These findings indicate that the MPLBE model is effective in improving students' scientific literacy. This model not only strengthens the understanding of biological concepts contextually, but also builds environmental awareness and scientific thinking skills of prospective biology teachers. This study recommends the integration of ecotourism in biology learning as an innovative approach based on local potential.

Abstract

The PjBL model has been proven effective in developing critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity skills. Critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. However, its incorporation with ethnoscience, especially in Sasambo culture, has not been widely researched. This study aims to analyze the research trends of PjBL based on ethnoscience-based PjBL research trends globally and to examine the effectiveness of Sasambo ethnoscience-based PjBL in improving the understanding of scientific concepts and appreciation of local culture. of local culture. This research is a mixed research with descriptive quantitative and bibliometric design. This research uses 2 data collection methods: bibliometric analysis with the Publish or Perish (PoP) tool and data visualization through VOSviewer, to identify research trends on ethnoscience and PjBL. Trends in research on ethnoscience and PjBL, and a questionnaire for students' understanding of ethnoscience-based PjBL. About PjBL based on Sasambo ethnoscience. The subjects involved were 30 students. The instrument used is a questionnaire sheet. After the data is collected, it is then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the trend of PjBL-based ethnoscience-based PjBL shows great potential in strengthening high-level thinking skills. Skills. Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of brainstorming learning methods on the ability to think creatively in chemistry of grade XI science students. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study is all students of grade XI science for the 2022/2023 school year, totaling 158 students distributed in five classes. The sample used in this study was 60 students who were determined by cluster random sampling technique. Through random, class XI Science 4 was determined as a control class and in learning using conventional learning methods, namely lectures and discussions, and class XI Science 3 as an experimental class using brainstorming learning methods. Data on creative thinking skills were collected by test techniques using instruments in the form of description questions. The research hypothesis was tested using an independent t-test to analyze the difference between the n-gain of the control class and the experimental class using the help of SPSS 25 software. An independent t-hypothesis test yields a sig. (1-tailed) of 0.000 is less than the significance value (0.05). In the N-Gain test, experimental class N-Gain 0.6353 was obtained which was greater than that of control class 0.4255. Based on the t test and N-gain comparison, there is a positive and significant influence of brainstorming learning methods on students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in levels of secondary metabolites of Chinese betel leaf extract which are affected by differences in light intensity and to determine the development of media posters as a means of supporting lectures on natural product chemistry. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods of experiment and development. Based on the research results, Chinese betel leaf extract in sample 1 produced three secondary metabolites as well as sample 2. However, only two compounds could be compared between the two samples and these compounds were 3a(1H)-Azulenol, 2,3,4, 5,8,8a-hexahydro-6 and Dillapiole, while the compounds that cannot be compared are Cholest-5-en-3-ol(3 beta)-(CAS)lanol and Phenol,2,4-bis(1,1 -dimethylethyl)-(CAS) 2,4-Di-tert-butylphenol. The resulting level of the compound 3a(1H)-Azulenol,2,3,4,5,8,8a-hexahydro-6 (terpenoid) in sample 1 was 11.49% while in sample 2 it was 24.36%, and for the compound dillapiole (phenylpropanoid) content produced in sample 1 was 14.26% while in sample 2 it was 36.47%. For the compound cholest-5-en-3-ol (steroid) it produced a concentration of 74.25% in sample 1 while in sample 2 it was compound not detected and for the compound Phenol,2,4-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-(CAS ) 2,4-Di-tert-butylphenol (flavonoid) in sample 2 produced a level of 5.78% while in sample 1 it was compound not detected. Based on this, there were differences in the levels of secondary metabolites which were affected by light intensity. In developing poster media, stating that poster media is very feasible and practical to display so that poster media is not revised, this is based on the results of validity tests and trials.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen semu dengan tujuan mengetahui adanya pengaruh model PjBL (Project Based Learning) berbasis STEM (Sains, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) terhadap peningkatan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Narmada pada materi asam dan basa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu non-equivalent control group design. Sampel pada penelitian ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Populasi yang dipilih adalah semua siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 1 Narmada yang berjumlah 213 siswa, sedangkan sampelnya diperoleh siswa kelas XI IPA 5 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan siswa kelas XI IPA 4 sebagai kelompok kontrol. Instrumen pada penelitian ini yaitu instrumen tes berupa soal uraian yang terdiri dari 8 soal. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan beberapa uji, anatra lain uji N-Gain, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas varians dan uji hipotesis (uji-t) dua pihak menggunakan rumus uji-t polled varians. Berdasrkan hasil uji-t diperoleh thitung sebesar 4,06 dan ttabel sebesar 1,99 pada dk sebesar 69 dengan taraf signifikan 5%. Karena thitung lebih besar dari ttabel maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima yang artinya model PjBL (Project Based Learning) berbasis STEM (Sains Technology Engineering and Mathematics) berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Narmada pada materi asam dan basa.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi mempunyai peran yang sangat penting dalam perkembangan dunia pendidikan. Proses pembelajaran di kelas menggunakan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi menjadi lebih mudah dalam mencari informasi, menampilkan konsep yang abstrak dan simbolik, pengelolaan dan transfer ilmu. Dengan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi (augmented reality [AR]) dapat meningkatkan minta belajar siswa dan menambah sumber belajar siswa khususnya sebagai penguat profil pelajar pancasila. Kemampuan guru dalam mengembangkan dan menggunakan inovasi media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi perlu ditingkatkan. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut diperlukan pelatihan penggunaan media AR berbasis teknologi. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menggunakan media AR terintegrasi kearifan lokal sebagai penguat profil pelajar pancasila. Peserta diberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan secara intensif mulai dari pengenalan petunjuk penggunaan sampai dengan bagaimana cara penggunaannya. Penggunaan media AR dianggap mampu untuk menjawab keresahan dari guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran sesuai dengan implementasi kurikulum merdeka belajar di sekolah. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini akan dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahapan, yaitu 1) Koordinasi dengan semua pihak terkait; 2) Pelatihan tentang penggunaan media AR terintegrasi kearifan lokal; 3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD) pada beberapa masalah yang terjadi, solusi dan rencana tindak lanjutnya. Kegiatan pelatihan penggunaan media Augmented Reality (AR) berbasis kearifan lokal bagi guru telah berhasil dilaksanakan dengan tujuan meningkatkan kompetensi pendidik dalam memanfaatkan teknologi digital untuk memperkuat Profil Pelajar Pancasila dan mendukung Pendidikan Berkelanjutan (ESDGs). Peserta pelatihan, yang terdiri dari guru-guru dari berbagai jenjang pendidikan, menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dalam mempelajari konsep AR dan mengintegrasikannya dengan muatan lokal. Selama pelatihan, guru-guru berhasil mengembangkan prototipe media AR sederhana, seperti AR buku cerita rakyat, AR peta budaya, dan AR lingkungan hidup, yang memadukan teknologi dengan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a practicum guidelines for natural dyes based on Sasambo (Sasak, Samawa, Mbojo) indigenous plants to enhance students' understanding of using natural materials as eco-friendly dyes. The environmental hazards posed by synthetic dyes form the background for the importance of this research. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D model approach (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The practicum guidelines includes Sasambo indigenous plants, such as Ruellia Simplex, Curcuma longa, Syzygium cumini, Areca catechu, Pouteria campechiana, Clitoria ternatea, Cajanus  cajan, Murraya paniculata, Pandanus amaryllifolius, Ipomoea batatas. Expert validation and lecturer evaluations demonstrated that the developed practicum guidelines for natural dyes based on Sasambo indigenous plants is suitable for use. This is evidenced by its high level of clarity, graphical appeal, and usability, enabling effective student engagement with sustainable practices. Field and laboratory analyses identified ten plants capable of producing vibrant colors, such as purple, yellow, red, orange, blue, black, and green, with added antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. The conclusion of this study is that the developed practicum guidelines can be utilized as an effective learning medium for introducing natural dyes derived from Sasambo indigenous plants, thereby contributing to promoting sustainable industrial practices by leveraging local resources for environmental and economic sustainability.

Abstract

Lambung merupakan pakaian adat masyarakat Lombok yang digunakan dalam berbagai acara seperti acara pernikahan, upacara adat atau penyambutan tamu. Selain nilai sosial,budaya dan karakter, dalam tradisi juga terkandung nilai sains yang dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam pembelajaran kimia. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi konsep kimia dalam etnosain baju adat Lambung. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis dilakukan di daerah Lombok Timur. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Konsep kimia yang dapat diidentifikasi antara lain senyawa organik, senyawa anorganik, kimia unsur dan sistem periodik unsur. Hasil kajian ini diharapkan dapat membantu guru untuk merancang pembelajaran kimia dengan pendekatan etnosain.

Abstract

The Indonesian people are familiar with traditional medicines that function as anti-inflammatory agents and can strengthen the immune system, with at least 163 types of medicinal plants found on Lombok Island. This study aims to increase students' literacy about Sasak medicinal plants used by the local community through Project-Based Learning assignments. The outcome of this research is a pocket guide on Sasak medicinal plants produced by each student group as part of an inventory effort of active Sasak medicinal plants still used by the community. This research is a descriptive-exploratory qualitative study and a quantitative cross-sectional study. The sample consists of 45 students. The exploratory assessment of qualitative data is based on the students' ability to complete the project and produce the pocket guide, while the quantitative data analysis uses univariate and bivariate analysis in SPSS 25. The Project-Based Learning assignment effectively improved students' literacy on Sasak medicinal plants, resulting in 15 pocket guides. There was a notable improvement in knowledge levels before and after the project assignment, with the percentage of students in the “good knowledge” category increasing from 22.2% to 82.2%. The group of students with the most significant improvement was Group 6, with a 95% score in the "good knowledge" category. There was a significant increase in knowledge with a p-value of 0.009 < 0.05, indicating an influence of improved knowledge among Pharmacy students at Universitas Qamarul Huda Badarudin Bagu regarding the use of Sasak medicinal plants in the community after participating in the phytochemistry practice and being given assignments through Project-Based Learning (PBL).
