Abstract

Sebelas Maret University Surakarta declared itself a Pancasila Fortress Campus, one of its objectives being to prevent the recurrence of events that undermined the Pancasila ideology in the past, including radicalism and intolerance; this was announced when UNS commemorated Pancasila Day on 1 October 2018. As a consequence of this declaration, UNS has constructed six places of worship located in a single area, namely: Mosques, Catholic churches, Christian churches, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Chinese temples. This study uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques using document studies or documentation, namely from books and articles related to the challenges of Pancasila as the ideology and foundation of the Republic of Indonesia.  In efforts to strengthen itself as a Pancasila Fortress Campus, there are several programs and activities that have been and continue to be implemented, including Pancasila Education lectures; Citizenship Education; and the establishment of the Pancasila Implementation Study Centre (PSPP). The challenges faced by UNS as a Pancasila Fortress Campus include individualism, market liberalism, radicalism, religious fundamentalism; the weakening of the practice and actualisation of Pancasila; and the lack of Pancasila role models.

Abstract

Pancasila Education as a compulsory subject in elementary schools is often seen as boring learning due to monotonous and conventional teaching methods. This study aims to examine how the implementation of outdoor learning methods can be an effective solution in changing students' perceptions of Pancasila Education subjects. Using a systematic literature review method, this research analyzes various reference sources related to the implementation of outdoor learning in learning Pancasila Education at the elementary school level. The method in writing this article uses a case study method with data collection techniques, namely interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results showed that outdoor learning succeeded in changing the learning paradigm from theoretical to more dynamic and meaningful. This method allows students to observe, feel, and practice Pancasila values directly through real experiences in the surrounding environment. Some effective implementation strategies include contextualized material planning, outdoor deliberation simulation, project-based approach, and joint reflection. The implementation of outdoor learning is proven to increase students' interest in learning and understanding of Pancasila Education materials, as well as help internalize Pancasila values through meaningful hands-on activities.

Abstract

This research reveals that many students have low time discipline and independence. This often occurs because the learning methods used are less able to encourage students' personal involvement and the development of their skills (psychomotor). The implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Pancasila Education subjects can help students learn to better manage their time, thereby increasing their discipline and independence. Through PBL, important skills such as time management and responsibility can be taught, which are useful in everyday life. This article aims to explore time management strategies as an important factor in supporting the enhancement of student discipline and independence. It is hoped that problem based learning can optimize the PPKn learning process and significantly impact the students' character and social skills. The research method used in this study is qualitative research using a case study approach. The data collection techniques used in this case study research are observation, interview, and documentation methods. The results of the study show that PBL can help build student discipline and independence, although there are challenges in understanding the issues that affect their time management. This research recommends the use of reflective training and time management techniques, such as the Pomodoro technique, to support students in optimizing their skills in managing time and completing tasks.

Abstract

This study aims to trace the origins of history education. The research question raised is: How did history emerge as a school subject? This question intrinsically also raises other related questions, such as when, where, and who the figures were who gave birth to history as a school subject. This research is a literature review using historical methods. The source collection was conducted by copying and downloading digitally available sources, including both primary and secondary sources. The results indicate that history first became a school subject in the early 19th century in Prussia (present-day Germany). The figure who initiated and implemented the policy was Wilhelm von Humboldt, who at the time was an official at the Ministry of the Interior. History education was given the responsibility to use knowledge of the past as a medium for the formation of the whole person (Bildung). This responsibility makes history education more a part of the historical culture that developed in society, rather than a subordinate to the science of history, tasked with reconstructing past events.

Abstract

Abstract

Character education is expected to be able to prepare Indonesia's golden generation in 2025 who are not only intelligent, but also have high morals and integrity. This research aims to develop the traditional game Engklek Patuh Aturan (EPA) as a Civics learning media that combines the fun of playing with character education. This study uses a qualitative approach, which describes and elaborates on the influence of the use of learning media in education. The data collection techniques were carried out through literature studies with several approaches. Furthermore, literature review from academic journals was also conducted, especially those that review the impact of games on children's social skills and compliance with rules. Then, a comparative approach was used by comparing literature on other traditional games in character education, so that similarities and differences in their impact can be seen. Based on the results of a review of various literatures, it can be synthesized that indeed the traditional games Engklek Patuh Aturan (EPA) are an effective traditional game for realizing national character values. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a strategy of introducing traditional games for children by using it as the Civics Learning Media in introducing and instilling the value of nationalism. One alternative effort can be made to preserve traditional games that have various benefits for life.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the economic values of citizenship through an edupreneurship approach as a strategy to improve the welfare of teachers in Indonesia. Teacher welfare is a fundamental issue in educational development, as mandated in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, which states that the economy shall be organized as a joint effort based on the principle of kinship for the greatest prosperity of the people. This is in line with Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers and Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, which emphasize the strategic role of teachers in improving the quality of education and welfare. Edupreneurship as a form of educational innovation is seen as capable of providing new opportunities for teachers to develop entrepreneurial skills based on knowledge, creativity, and civic values oriented towards economic independence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review through the analysis of various references, including scientific articles and relevant previous research reports. The results of the study show that there are three important aspects in the implementation of edupreneurship, namely: (1) opportunities, in the form of opening up space for teachers to integrate entrepreneurship into educational practices; (2) challenges, which include limited skills, policy support, and access to resources; and (3) implementation, through curriculum integration, training, and the development of collaborative networks. Thus, edupreneurship not only strengthens the economic value of citizenship, but also has the potential to improve the welfare of teachers in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the question-and-answer method on lower-grade students' learning motivation in Civics (PPKn). The question-and-answer method was chosen as the focus of the study because it fosters more active two-way interaction between teachers and students. The study was conducted at an elementary school in Sukoharjo Regency, with third-grade students as subjects. The method used was descriptive qualitative, using observations, interviews, and documentation of the Civics (PPKn) learning. The analysis showed that the question-and-answer method can increase students' learning motivation, as evidenced by increased student engagement in answering questions, asking questions with curiosity, and demonstrating enthusiasm in participating in Civics (PPKn) activities. However, its implementation still faces obstacles, such as some students' shyness or fear of asking or answering questions. Therefore, teachers need to provide positive reinforcement and create a comfortable and safe classroom environment for students. Overall, the implementation of the question-and-answer method has a positive impact on student learning motivation in lower-grade students, especially when supported by appropriate classroom management strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ active participation through the activity of creating a classroom agreement poster in Civics Education. The study was conducted in an elementary school in Sukoharjo with students of IV as the research subjects. The method used was descriptive qualitative through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the activity of creating a classroom agreement poster can increase students’ active participation, as seen in their involvement in discussions, expressing opinions, collaborating in groups, and taking responsibility for the assigned tasks. In addition, students began to show discipline and awareness of the agreed rules. However, several obstacles were still found, such as some students being passive and lacking confidence in expressing their ideas. Therefore, the teacher’s role is important in providing guidance, motivation, and creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the inconsistency of the tahfidz supervising teacher in using the teaching method or method, namely still using the deposit system. In this system, students often continue to the next verse even though they have not completely memorized the previous verse. This causes some students to experience difficulties when depositing memorization, such as stumbling in reading, skipping some verses, and not being correct in using tajwid or makharijul huruf. The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) the application of the One Day One Verse (ODOA) method in increasing motivation to memorize the Qur'an, (2) increasing motivation of students in memorizing surahs (3) supporting and inhibiting factors in the application of the One Day One Verse method. This type of research is field research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects include tahfidz supervising teachers, management teachers, students, and parents of students. The data collection techniques used consist of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research and discussion, it was found that the ODOA method was applied to students who had already memorized the Quran fluently. Once they had memorized the Quran fluently, the supervising teacher targeted one new verse by dictating each verse fragment to be memorized. Furthermore, the supervising teacher used keywords in each verse and provided tajweed rhythms to help the students memorize the verses and improve their tajweed accuracy.
