Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills of chemistry students through a problem-based learning (PBL) learning model on acid-base titration material. The method used is analytical descriptive research based on categorizing critical thinking skills with the research subject of chemistry education students in a regular class in 2022, consisting of 35 students. Data collection of critical thinking skills using essay tests reveals critical thinking skills in interpretation, analysis, inference, deduction, and evaluation. Research data were obtained from pretest and post-test results. The results showed the lowest N-gain value on the interpretation indicator and the highest on the deduction indicator, with an average N-gain value of 0.59 in the moderate category. This shows increased critical thinking skills after being treated using the PBL learning model.

Abstract

Physics education programs must produce graduates capable of transforming scientific principles into innovative solutions. However, a significant gap exists in the systematic integration of laboratory design, standardized 21st-century competency assessments, and SDG 4-relevant outcomes. This study addresses this fragmentation by exploring basic physics laboratory models through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis of 22 selected articles from 2015–2025. Findings confirm a paradigm shift toward competency-based teaching, with research interest in technology integration peaking in 2023. The analysis identifies that inquiry-based models, such as the Higher Order Thinking Laboratory (HOT Lab), are most effective for fostering graduate work-readiness by prioritizing critical thinking and problem-solving. Furthermore, the study highlights the indispensable role of laboratory assistants as pedagogical agents whose 4C competencies significantly catalyze students' experimental comprehension. The study’s primary novelty is the formulation of the "Triple-Aligned Architecture," a framework ensuring that instructional objectives, digital technology integration, and evaluations systematically converge on three pillars: 21st-century skills, professional competencies, and sustainability. This architecture provides a strategic roadmap for institutions to transform laboratories into innovation hubs that produce adaptive graduates with measurable global impact and readiness for the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to develop computer-assisted FORBIS to facilitate the correction of students' conceptual understanding of dynamic fluid materials. This Research and Development (R&D) project utilized the Plomp development model, involving two physics lecturers and one physics teacher as expert validators. The subjects consisted of 36 eleventh-grade science students (12 male and 24 female students), with 31 students participating in the practicality test and 5 students involved in the effectiveness test. A stratified purposive sampling technique was employed to select the students for the product effectiveness test. The data collection instruments used were questionnaires and interview guides. This research produced a product named Formative Feedback with Isomorphic Multiple-Choice Questions (FORBIS) to help improve students' conceptual understanding and serve as a tool for independent learning. Based on the validity test, the results obtained were 96.5% (highly valid) for isomorphic questions, 95.7% (highly valid) for true-false questions, 96.5% (highly valid) for feedback, and 96.4% (highly valid) for the overall product. The result of the product practicality test by students was 93.9%, falling into the highly practical category. The effectiveness test was conducted through limited interviews with 5 students before and after using the product, which were analyzed using a descriptive-comparative method to determine changes in students' conceptual understanding. The interview results indicated a positive trend toward the improvement of students' understanding of physics concepts after using the product. Accordingly, this research has successfully developed a computer-assisted FORBIS that meets the criteria of being valid and practical, while also indicating a capacity to support students' conceptual understanding based on limited interview results.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze relationship between thinking skill pattern and students’ conceptual acquisition on metacognitive strategy assisted by thinking map. This mixed method research (embedded experimental design) was conducted at junior high school students and used conceptual acquisition test (posttest) and observation paper. The observation paper was used to analyze students’ thinking skill pattern by using thinking map. The result of this research showed that students who had high thinking skill pattern reachedhigh conceptual acquisition score too. This physics conceptual acquisition score showed students’ cognitive process grade. Conclusion of this research is the relationship between thinking skill pattern and junior high school students’ physics conceptual acquisition is exist.
