Abstract

The KIA (Motherhood and Child Health) Clinic is the spearhead of health services because it is the primary place for interaction between pregnant women and health workers, both for examinations, education, and counseling. Therefore, health promotion media needs to be managed in a planned manner to optimally convey messages. This study aims to analyze the management of health promotion media in the KIA Clinic using a descriptive qualitative method. Six informants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of health promotion officers, heads of community health centers, KIA clinic officers, and patients. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, recording, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that health promotion media management has been running quite well. The product aspect includes the use of leaflets, posters, and flipcharts in accordance with guidelines, but is still dominated by print media. The price aspect is relatively affordable, although budget constraints affect media variation. The place aspect is considered strategic through placement in waiting rooms and direct distribution and utilization of integrated health posts (Posyandu) and social media. The promotion aspect is carried out through lectures, counseling, and questions and answers, although obstacles still exist. In conclusion, health promotion media management is quite effective, but requires optimization of digital media and innovation in outreach strategies.

Abstract

Household waste management remains one of the environmental health problems commonly found in rural communities. Improper waste management can cause environmental pollution and increase the risk of public health problems. This study aimed to describe household waste management in Sama Subur Village, Motui District, North Konawe Regency. This research was a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The study was conducted in January 2026 involving 46 household heads selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews using structured questionnaires and observation sheets. The variables studied included the availability of household trash bins, separation of organic and inorganic waste, main methods of waste disposal, frequency of waste disposal, barriers to waste management, and disturbances caused by waste. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in frequency distribution tables and percentages. The results showed that most respondents used open trash bins (78.3%), never separated organic and inorganic waste (76.1%), and disposed of waste by burning (84.8%). Most respondents disposed of waste daily (54.3%). The main barrier to waste management was the absence of waste collection services (60.9%). Most respondents reported no disturbances caused by waste (82.6%). The study concluded that household waste management in Sama Subur Village is still not optimal and requires improved facilities and community education regarding proper and healthy waste management.

Abstract

The issue of adolescent reproductive health remains a major challenge in Indonesia, significantly impacting the future of the younger generation. Research by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Ministry of Health in October 2020 indicated that approximately 62.7% of Indonesian adolescents had engaged in premarital sexual relations, with 20% of 94,270 out-of-wedlock pregnancies occurring in adolescent girls, and 21% of these resulting in abortion. This study aimed to enhance MTsN 01 Kendari students with knowledge about the importance of reproductive health, and to measure their knowledge levels through pre-post questionnaire distribution using educational media. The research employed a Pre-Experimental design with a One Group Pre-test - Post-test Design. The study population consisted of 7th-grade students from MTsN 01 Kendari, with a sample size of 35 individuals selected using purposive sampling. Data collection involved questionnaires administered to respondents before and after the educational intervention. The study results showed that the education significantly improved students' knowledge of reproductive health. Based on the pre-test results, 31 (88.57%) students were in the "good" category and 4 (11.43%) were in the "sufficient" category. Subsequently, a significant change was observed in the knowledge distribution based on the post-test, where 35 (100%) students were in the good category. Analysis using a paired-samples t-test revealed that p(0.000)<α(0.05), indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. This demonstrates a significant difference between the mean results of the pre-test and post-test after the educational intervention.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Behavior (CHB) is an essential aspect of improving public health, particularly among school-aged children. At SDN 104 Kendari, there are still challenges related to students’ behavior, especially the habit of buying snacks from unregulated vendors near the school, which increases the risk of exposure to foodborne diseases. This study aims to examine the effect of health education on students’ knowledge of CHB. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test method. The sample consisted of 42 students, selected through stratified random sampling to ensure representation across different classes and initial knowledge levels. The research instruments included pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure students’ knowledge, complemented by educational videos designed to be engaging and informative, enhancing students’ understanding of CHB principles. Results indicated that prior to the educational intervention, the majority of students’ knowledge was categorized as sufficient (57.1%) and good (42.9%). Following the intervention, there was a significant increase in knowledge, with 69% of students categorized as good, reflecting improved understanding of CHB principles. Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test revealed a significant effect of the educational intervention on students’ knowledge of CHB (p-value <0.05). These findings highlight that health education through video media is an effective strategy to enhance students’ knowledge of CHB and promote healthy behaviors within the school environment. The implementation of audiovisual-based educational programs can be recommended as part of ongoing school health activities and sustainable promotive-preventive efforts.

Abstract

Kidney function loss is known as renal failure. When a patient's kidney function falls below 10%, they are diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). A dialyzer is used to circulate the patient's blood during hemodialysis, a kidney replacement treatment. Metabolic waste products are then removed from the bloodstream, particularly those resulting from the metabolism of proteins. The purpose of this study is to comprehend the level of family support provided to adult patients with renal failure who are receiving hemodialysis at Bahteramas Hospital in the province of Southeast Sulawesi in 2023. The case study methodology of the qualitative research makes use of documenting, recording, interviewing, and observation techniques. The results show the many ways families help their dialysis patients with renal failure. Hemodialysis therapy includes a number of support options. First, informational assistance Second, instrumental assistance; third, evaluative support; and, last, emotional support
