Abstract

Abstract

Vocabulary (mufradat) is considered a fundamental element that supports communication, reading, and writing skills in the Arabic language. Research indicates that a good mastery of vocabulary significantly contributes to language learning success. The Suggestopedia method, which utilizes suggestion, music, and a comfortable learning environment, has proven effective in enhancing students' vocabulary acquisition. This method consists of six key elements in its implementation: (1) authority, (2) infantilization, (3) double-plane communication, (4) intonation, (5) rhythm, and (6) pseudo-passivity. Through these elements, the method creates an enjoyable and supportive learning atmosphere. Therefore, we expect its application to positively contribute to Arabic language teaching at the primary and secondary education levels.  This study aims to describe the Suggestopedia method, the meaning and urgency of vocabulary learning, and the implementation of Suggestopedia in vocabulary instruction. The research employs a literature review method by analyzing various books and journal articles relevant to the Suggestopedia method. The findings indicate that (1) Suggestopedia is a method that emphasizes the use of suggestion to create feelings of enjoyment, confidence, and relaxation, enabling both the right and left hemispheres of the brain to function effectively. (2) Mastery of vocabulary is a crucial factor in Arabic language skills, including communication, reading, writing, and text comprehension. (3) There are six key elements to consider in applying the Suggestopedia method for vocabulary instruction: the teacher’s full role, learners as information receivers similar to young children, double-plane communication sources, the use of vocal intonation, musical rhythm, and a calm and comfortable attitude.

Abstract

The lyrics of the song “Usik” by Feby Putri represent human psychological dynamics through the use of diction and narratives that describe internal conflicts and resilience efforts. This study aims to analyse the representation of inner conflict and self-recovery mechanisms in the lyrics of “Usik” using Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis approach. The research method used is qualitative with content analysis method, which is carried out through three stages of analysis, namely macro-structure analysis to identify the main theme, superstructure analysis to map the narrative flow, and micro-structure analysis that includes semantic, syntactic, and stylistic aspects. The analysis process is strengthened by data triangulation through audience responses obtained from social media, to ensure the validity of the interpretation. The results reveal that the macro structure of the lyrics of “Usik” describes the struggle to find the meaning of life amidst pressure, while the superstructure forms a transformative narrative that moves from the conflict phase to spiritual resolution. In microstructure, linguistic strategies such as the use of darkness metaphors, imperative requests, and rhetorical repetition succeed in strengthening the emotional and spiritual dimensions. The study concludes that the lyrics of “Usik” not only reflect psychological conflict but also offer a narrative of resilience through spiritual affirmation and intimate language, thus demonstrating the relevance of critical discourse analysis in interpreting the complexity of popular music texts. Keywords: internal conflict, resilience, critical discourse analysis, linguistic strategies, song lyrics.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the values of Kediri's local wisdom integrated in the Qiroah Mahaliyah texts of the Malzamah Arabiyah book used in the Syarqi Awwal Program at Markaz Arabiyah. Using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis approach, which emphasizes three analytical dimensions (text, discursive practice, and sociocultural practice), this study explores how local wisdom is represented, interpreted, and positioned in Arabic language teaching materials. The research corpus consists of nine reading texts in the Malzamah Arabiyah book containing Kediri's local wisdom content, including historical figures, cultural monuments, traditional cuisine, tourist attractions, and educational institutions. The results show that: (1) textually, there is a strong representation of Kediri's cultural identity and history through the use of lexicon, grammar, and text structures deliberately designed to highlight local excellence; (2) in the dimension of discursive practice, this book interprets local wisdom as an instrument of language-culture integration that functions to facilitate Arabic language learning through contexts familiar to learners; and (3) from the sociocultural aspect, the texts reproduce Islamic values that harmonize with local culture, strengthening the narrative of moderate Islam that forms the identity of Markaz Arabiyah. This research also reveals ideological agendas in the form of strengthening Islamic identity, reinforcing sociocultural bonds with local communities, cultural preservation, and introducing multicultural values through language learning. These findings contribute to the development of Arabic language learning models based on local wisdom that are contextual, meaningful, and in continuity with the cultural identity of learners.

Abstract

The Story of Prophet Yusuf in the Quran is the only story that is presented in a single surah with a complete narrative. The spiritual, leadership, and integrity traits of Prophet Yusuf serve as exemplarycharacteristics that educate the interlocutors. This qualitative descriptive research, utilizing literary psychology theory, aimed to analyze the motivations of Prophet Yusuf based on Abraham H. Maslow's theory of needs. The primary data for this articlewas derived from Surah Yusuf in the Quran. The analysis technique employed was interactive, involving data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions/verification. The result of this research found that in the story of Yusufthere were five motivation needs, namely: safety, physiological, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs. All of the motivation needs of Yusuf were fulfilled properly so he could have a good humanistic personality that benefited him and the others around him also the others were far from him. This research had implications for character transformation among the interlocutors based on the exemplary behaviour of Prophet Yusuf in fulfilling their needs, as proposed by Abraham Maslow.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media at Al Ma’arif Singosari High School, an Islamic educational institution undergoing digital transformation. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research explores the lived experiences, perceptions, and challenges encountered by teachers, students, and administrators. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis, ensuring methodological triangulation. Findings indicate that AR positively influenced teaching practices, fostering creativity and a shift from content delivery to facilitative instruction. Students reported increased engagement and improved comprehension of abstract concepts across subjects such as Islamic Studies, Biology, and Arabic. However, technical challenges—including device compatibility, limited internet connectivity, and distractions from mobile devices—posed significant barriers. These dual outcomes highlight both the pedagogical potential and operational limitations of AR in Islamic education. The study provides practical implications for institutions considering similar initiatives, emphasizing the importance of teacher training, infrastructure readiness, and institutional support. While offering a replicable framework, this single-site study is limited in scope and duration. Future research should explore the long-term impacts of AR integration, its adaptability across diverse Islamic school contexts, and the development of culturally and pedagogically aligned AR content.

Abstract

Following the 2024 General Election, Indonesia has faced a challenging situation marked by social polarization and intense political tensions that threaten national unity. In such conditions, Islamic da’wah cannot rely solely on conveying religious teachings in a normative manner. It is required to serve as a calming force capable of embracing various groups and re-strengthening social bonds within a divided society. This study aims to examine how da’wah communication strategies are employed by Muhammadiyah in constructing a hopeful narrative in the Main Feature Section of Suara Muhammadiyah magazine, 02/2025 edition. Published shortly after the 2024 election, this edition reflects Muhammadiyah’s stance on various sociopolitical issues at the national level. The study is relevant as the da'wah presented not only conveys religious messages but also acts as a form of symbolic intervention in the national public sphere. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using documentation and literature review techniques. The primary data source is the Main Feature Section of Suara Muhammadiyah 02/2025 edition, supported by secondary data from scholarly references. The analysis applies Teun A. Van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework, which includes three dimensions: textual structure, social cognition, and social context. The findings reveal that the da'wah messages are crafted using optimistic diction, supported by factual data, and reinforced with quotations from national figures. This strategy constructs a credible image while also fostering a sense of unity within society. From an academic perspective, this study contributes to the development of religious discourse studies. Meanwhile, on a practical level, the findings can be utilized in text-based Indonesian language learning, particularly to enhance students’ critical reading and argumentative writing skills.
