Abstract

Kappaphycus alvarezii is used in industry as a food ingredient, a source of hydrocolloids, cosmetics, food additives, animal feed, fertilizers, biofuels, and medicinal ingredients. K.alvarezii is cultivated in several areas in Indonesia, including on the island of Lombok. The production of K.alvarezii is related to its growth and it is related to its phytohormones. K.alvarezii cultivated in Lombok is currently not known for its composition and amount of phytohormones. The content of phytohormones at different planting ages is of course different. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of phytohormones in seaweed K. alvarezii at different planting ages. This study conducted in Ekas Bay, Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat from June to December 2020. The study used experimental methods and descriptive data analysis. The results of this study explain that currently cultivated K. alvarezii contains cytokinins, auxins and gibberellins. Cytokinins obtained on the 9th day of planting were 11.62 ppm and increased on the 18th day to 12.34 ppm. At the next planting age, it continued to decrease on the 27th day to 11.43 ppm and at harvest time, the 45th day of 10.69 ppm. Auxin detected in the seeds used was 644.93 ppm, on the 27th day of 14.27 ppm and the 36th day of 1078.25 ppm. Giberilin was detected on the 9th day at 0.49 ppm. This study concluded that K. alvarezii at different planting ages had different phytohormones content.

Abstract

Gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy) is a freshwater fishery commodity with a large enough demand and a fairly expensive price compared to other freshwater fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature on larval quality and growth of gouramy fry. The research method used is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two treatments of water media temperature, namely 1) Treatment A = The temperature of the media follows room temperature (control treatment), and 2) Treatment B = The temperature of the medium was set constant at a temperature of 30ᵒC. Each treatment was repeated six times to obtain 12 experimental units. Research parameter data were analyzed statistically using variance (ANOVA) at a 95% confidence level using the t-test. The results showed that the degree of hatching of gouramy eggs, larval size, absolute growth, relative growth, daily specific growth rate and survival rate of gouramy larvae at room temperature and 30°C were 90.38% and 98, respectively. 76%; 0.54 cm and 0.66 cm; 0.86 cm and 0.87 cm; 157.52% and 133.26%; 3.99% and 3.58%; and 74.78% and 91.22%. The study concluded that eggs incubated at room temperature (25-28°C) and 30°C gave significantly different effects on hatching rates and post-hatching larvae size. Larval rearing at room temperature and 30°C gave no significant effect on absolute growth but significantly different on relative growth, daily specific growth rate and survival rate

Abstract

This study examined the effects of dietary supplementation with Eichhornia crassipes leaf extract on the growth performance and hematological parameters of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and saponins, with moderate antioxidant activity (50.89% DPPH inhibition). Experimental treatments showed that fish receiving moderate levels of the extract had significantly higher erythrocyte and leukocyte counts, indicating improved oxygen transport and immune function. Additionally, the group with the highest absolute weight gain suggests better nutrient absorption. All treatments maintained a 100% survival rate and stable water quality, confirming the extract’s safety and environmental compatibility. These results support the use of E. crassipes as a sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic growth promoters in aquaculture. Further research is recommended to investigate its long-term effects and mechanisms of action.

Abstract

Sea grapes are one type of seaweed in Indonesia. One of them is Caulerpa racemosa. This study was conducted to determine the effect of phosphorus concentration on the growth rate of C. racemosa with different doses of fertilizer. This study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replicates. The dose used is 0 ppm (control), 1.5 ppm, 3 ppm, and 4.5 ppm. C. racemosa were reared for 15 days in 35 cm plastic containers with a volume of water used during the rearing period of 10 liters, equipped with aerators and small aeration bubbles set with a stocking density of 25 grams. The results showed that the daily growth rate (DGR) of sea grapes ranged from 5.6-17.55%, final weight ranged from 10-31.3 g, antioxidant activity ranged from 30.49-38.66%, and chlorophyll content ranged from 26.21-31.35 mg/L. The DGR of C. racemosa was not substantially affected (p>0.05) by the fertilizer formulation dose concentrations. Further research needs to be done by adding phosphorus fertilizer doses for standard daily growth rate results.
