Abstract

Competition in the recruitment of graduate students is increasingly tight with the large number of tertiary institutions offering graduate education programs. Universities must develop more competitive marketing strategies to win the competition in the student recruitment market. This study aims to analyze the effect of the marketing mix on brand-image, motivation, and student decisions in choosing a graduate education at the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) as the place to pursue graduate study. This study uses a causality approach with survey techniques to explain the causal relationship between marketing mix variables, brand image, motivation, and student decisions. The data of this study were collected using a questionnaire from 255 master program students of IPB. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to analyze the causal relationship between marketing mix with brand-image, motivation, and student decisions. The results showed that products, promotions, people, and physical evidence significantly influence brand-image. Product, place, process, people, physical evidence, and brand image have a significant influence on motivation. The product, promotion, process, people, brand image, and motivation influence the student’s decision. Policy-makers at IPB can consider the findings of this study, while developing a graduate education marketing plan, to increase the number of new students.

Abstract

Organizational knowledge is a combination of individual’s knowledge within the organization. Specialize individual knowledge is developed inside the organization. Therefore, it should belong to the organization and be stored in the organization. The Industrial Automation (IA) department implements simple knowledge management (KM) in the form of a web blog. However, the KM implementation becomes inconsistent. This inconsistency can lead to knowledge loss and knowledge gaps if there are individual changes within the organization. This study aims to analyze the condition of the IA department’s KM, analyze the factors that affect the sustainability of IA’s KM and formulate strategies for the sustainability of IA’s KM. The analysis of KM is carried out with the following factors: culture, training and development, reward, performance system, and technology. Supervisor’s order is still something that can help to build the knowledge-sharing habit. Employees do not get training regularly. Employees feel that they have not received good appreciation for the knowledge sharing and have not been included in the performance appraisal. Technology has been well adopted in KM. SEM-PLS analysis shows that training and development is a significant factor of KM sustainability. SEM-PLS result and content analysis construct managerial implication and KM sustainability strategies formula: develop a yearly training plan, establish problem-solving forum, and improving KMS implementation. Abstract

Palm oil is one of the agricultural commodities grown in world trade. North America is one of the regions with high import demand, so that the region can be observed as an export destination. This study aimed to examine the palm import demand in three selected North American Countries (United States of America (USA), Canada and Mexico) and its determinants. Autoregressive Distributive Lags (ARDL) was applied in this study between 1990 and 2017. The results indicate that the demand for palm oil in North American countries has increased. However, the import growth and shares have fluctuated relatively. GDP, GDP Indonesia, GDP Malaysia world palm oil prices, soybean oil prices, and biodiesel production significantly affect palm oil imports in the USA in the long and short-run. The GDP and GDP of Indonesia are the factors that influence palm oil import in Canada and Mexico in the long run. However, we found the impact of GDP Malaysia and GDP Indonesia in Canada in the short-run. Moreover, Indonesia's GDP and GDP significantly influenced palm oil import in Mexico. This research implies that oil palm exporting countries need to consider these factors, especially GDP, before expanding their market to North American countries as one of the biggest palm oil markets in the global world. Abstract

Palm oil is an important commodity between Indonesia and Malaysia with a higher contribution to the national economy. However, the investigation into its competitiveness is still important due to fierce competition in the global world. This study aims to investigate the Relative Export Competitiveness (REC) of palm oil downstream and its determinant factors between Indonesia and Malaysia from 1970 until 2020. This study utilizes REC based on merchandise trade and multiple regression by using several variables influencing its REC. The findings reveal that REC in Indonesia has been greater than that of Malaysia over the past 20 years. Initially, Malaysia had a stronger position in REC than Indonesia, particularly from 1971 to 1997. Our analysis demonstrates that REC in Indonesia is positively influenced by factors such as the palm oil policy, the existence of palm oil organizations, and the official exchange rate. Conversely, GDP per capita and the palm oil policy positively impact Malaysia's REC. However, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) have a negative effect on REC in both countries. Based on these results, Indonesia and Malaysia must examine proper palm oil downstream policy to boost competitiveness. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of moderator variables on the relationship between decision-makers behavioral preferences and innovation adoption. Moderator variables are collaboration experience with university and firm characteristics such as ownership of the firm, size of the firm, and status of the firm. There is still a limited understanding of decision-makers behavioral preferences in the adoption of innovations from university, even though this understanding is needed to enhance the success of university and industry collaboration. This study explores several moderator variables that have not been previously studied together before on the relationship between decision-makers behavioral preferences and innovation adoption. This study distributes questionnaires to 365 respondents who are decision-makers of food and beverage firms in Jakarta and surrounding areas. Quantitative analysis of SEM data was carried out with LISREL. The results showed that decision-makers behavior preferences have a significant relationship with innovations adoption and only the status of the firm and collaboration experience with university influence the relationship between decision-makers behavioral preferences and innovations adoption. The results of this study reflect that some moderator variables have a significant effect on the relationship between decision-makers behavioral preferences and innovations adoption. Future research may employ other moderator variables such as government regulations to find out its influence on the adoption of innovation from the university.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of service quality and innovation on visitor satisfaction and loyalty in Bogor City Public Service Mall. Another thing that also needs to be answered from this study is whether there is an effect of customer satisfaction on loyalty in using the services of the Bogor City Public Service Mall. This study used primary data that were collected via interviews and questionnaires distribution to 81 MPP Kota Bogor visitors who were selected by purposive sampling method. The analysis used in this research is modeling analysis using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results of this study indicate that service quality has a significant effect on visitor satisfaction and loyalty. Another result is that innovation has a significant effect on visitor satisfaction, but has no significant effect on visitor loyalty. This study also shows that visitor satisfaction has a significant effect on visitor loyalty. Further research is needed with a broader model to explain the diversity of satisfaction and loyalty variables. It is also necessary to conduct a study comparing the services in the Bogor City MPP with the services in the original institution in terms of the level of satisfaction and loyalty of the community.
