Abstract

The Bodogol Education and Nature Conservation Center (PPKA) area is a representative area for lowland mountain tropical forest ecosystems on the island of Java so that the biodiversity in this area is quite high. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of lichens found in the Rasamala and Cikaweni lines of PPKA Bodogol, Sukabumi, West Java. Biodiversity research is important because of the presence of lichens as part of biodiversity that is beneficial to the ecosystem.  The research method used is descriptive with exploratory techniques. Determination of trees that contain lichens is done by using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that in both pathways, lichens with crustose talus type dominated. On the Rasamala Line, 7 types of lichens were found, while on the Cikaweni Line, 5 types of lichens were found. The species diversity (H') of lichens in the Rasamala pathway was 1.51 while in the Cikaweni route it was 1.18. So based on the Shannon-Wienner formula, the biodiversity in the Rasamala and Cikaweni trails is in the medium category.

Abstract

Critical thinking is necessary in improving the quality of education. Students' critical thinking includes interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, interpretation, and self-regulation. The two-tier test instrument was developed to determine students critical thinking skills in the ecosystem at class X MIPA di MAN 1 Bogor City. This research method used was based on 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The instrument was tested on two expert validators and 35 students. To test the success rate of the test, validation, reliability, and item analysis were used. The item anlaysis used is the level of difficulty of the questions and differentiating power of answer choice. Based on the results of the product trial, 10 valid questions and 5 unvalid questions. The reliability test result was 0,671 which the interpretation that 45% of respondents considered the instrument developed to be reliable. In addition, 10 questions are in the difficult category and 5 questions are in the medium category. The differentiating power of answer choice results was 1 question in the very good category, 6 questions in the good category, 4 questions in the moderate category, and 4 questions in the poor category. The two-tier test instrument for ecosystem critical thinking in this study is declared valid and reliable so this can be used as an instrument in student’s learning.

Abstract

Creative thinking and problem-solving skills are needed to face the 21st century of 4.0 industrial revolution. Improving the quality of human resources to face the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 must be developed in education. Biology as one of the subjects in high school, especially in plant growth and development matters, allows to develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills because in it there is a student project on plant growth and development. It takes the right instrument to measure the achievement of creative thinking skills and problem solving skills in Biology learning, especially on the topic of plant growth and development. Two instrument questions have been developed, namely the instrument for creative thinking skills and problem solving skills. The development of this instrument was carried out through the stages of Research and Development Borg and Gall 1983. It produced 10 essay questions measuring creative thinking skills and 8 questions measuring problem solving skills. The question gets very decent expert validation criteria with a score of 91% - 97%. The results of the validation test based on the Pearson Product Moment formula show that the ten items of creative thinking skills are valid with a significance level of 0.05. The reliability test of the two instruments has a result of 0.82, above Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, which is reliable for creative thinking skills instruments. Meanwhile, the instrument of problem solving skills showed very reliable results with Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.95.

Abstract

One of the skills that must be developed in the 21st century is creative thinking skills. Creative thinking skill that need to be developed because creative thinking skills are the ability to bring up new ideas and interesting thoughts in different situations. There are four aspects of creative thinking skills used in this study, namely: (1) fluency, (2) flexibility, (3) originality, (4) elaboration. The purpose of this research is to develop creative thinking instruments that are used to determine the level of student’s creative thinking abilities. The method used in this research is R and D with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The instrument consisted of 11 essay questions which were validated by 2 expert validators and validated on 31 class X high school students empirically who were selected by cluster random sampling and tested on 2 expert validators. In this study, the results obtained 10 valid questions and 1 invalid question with a reliability value of 0.86. Therefore, this creative thinking question instrument can be used as a measuring tool for student creativity. It is hoped that this research can be further developed through implementation by students.

Abstract

Biology learning in the 21st century makes students have to understand concepts, including in excretory system learning. Self-regulated learning is the way students manage learning on their own, with digital literacy skills which should be maintained as students must control their use of technology and information in learning. This research aimed to analyze the relationship between self-regulated learning with the conceptual understanding of the excretory system, digital literacy with the conceptual understanding of the excretory system, then also the relationship between self-regulated learning and digital literacy as a whole with the conceptual understanding of the excretory system in a high school with a post-pandemic learning situation. This research was held for two months duration from March until April 2022 in SMAN 6 Jakarta, involving 94 students of class XI Science as samples. A descriptive correlational study was chosen as the method, while questionnaires and tests are used as instruments. The hypothesis test shows a multiple linear regression model in Ŷ=-12.495+0.345X1+0.680X2 with the model significance of 0.000 and 0.062 as relationship linearity, then concludes that there is a positive relationship which is significant and linear between self-regulated learning and digital literacy simultaneously with excretory system conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Abstract The learning process in schools is the best public policy tool as an effort to increase students' knowledge and skills. This Community Service (PkM) aims to improve the soft-skill abilities of junior high school students in Bekasi Regency, West Java, so that students recognize entrepreneurship as early as possible and can also increase student interest in entrepreneurship, improve skills and entrepreneurial spirit and integrate entrepreneurship education into learning materials, so that entrepreneurship education is maximally integrated and has an effective influence on students. This activity was carried out at the Ulil Albab Integrated Islamic School Foundation. This activity is carried out in the form of training and introduction to entrepreneurship (entrepreneurs), then followed by training on making various flavors of soyghurt for students. The PkM method is carried out through lectures, discussions, questions and answers and direct practice on the material provided. This activity begins with the implementation of a pretest and at the end of the training a posttest is carried out as an indicator of the success of the activity. Furthermore, given exposure to entrepreneurship material, biotechnology and superior local soybeans irradiated by Gamasugen as well as counseling on the manufacture of various flavors of soyghurt with simple techniques. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest, there was an increase in students' understanding and knowledge, the average value of the pretest was 47.03 to 80.71 at the posttest. The results of this test showed an increase of 71.60%. Based on the results of this program, it shows that there is an increase in students' entrepreneurial knowledge and skills in making various flavored soyghurts from Gamasugen's local soybeans. Abstrak Proses pembelajaran di sekolah merupakan alat kebijakan publik terbaik sebagai upaya peningkatan pengetahuan dan skill siswa. Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan soft-skill siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) se Kabupaten Bekasi Provinsi Jawa Barat, sehingga siswa mengenal kewirausahaan (entrepreneur) sedini mungkin dan juga dapat meningkatkan minat siswa terhadap kewirausahaan, meningkatkan keterampilan dan jiwa wirausaha serta mengintegrasikan pendidikan entrepreneur ke dalam materi-materi pembelajaran, agar pendidikan entrepreneur terintegrasi dengan maksimal dan mempunyai pengaruh efektif terhadap siswa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Yayasan Sekolah Islam Terpadu (SIT) Ulil Albab. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pengenalan tentang kewirausahaan (entrepreneur), kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan pembuatan soyghurt aneka rasa bagi siswa-siswi. Metode pada PkM ini dilaksanakan melalui paparan materi (ceramah), diskusi, tanya jawab dan praktek langsung terhadap materi yang diberikan. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan pelaksanaan pretest dan pada akhir pelatihan dilaksanakan posttest sebagai indikator keberhasilan kegiatan. Selanjutnya diberikan paparan materi kewirausahaan, bioteknologi dan kedelai lokal unggul iradiasi Gamasugen serta penyuluhan tentang pembuatan soyghurt (susu kedelai fermentasi) aneka rasa dengan teknik yang sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil pretest dan postest tampak terjadi peningkatan pemahaman dan pengetahuan siswa, nilai rata-rata pretest 47,03 menjadi 80,71 pada saat postest. Hasil test ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan sebesar 71,60%. Berdasarkan hasil dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan kewirausahaan siswa dan keterampilan membuat soyghurt aneka rasa dari kedelai lokal Gamasugen.

Abstract

Biological literacy is the individual's ability to determine the prior knowledge to understand the terms, concepts, procedural, benefits, and relationships of biological sciences in life. This study aims to measure students' biological literacy skills. This study approach was conducted descriptively, with grades, levels, and material indicators utilized to assess biological literacy skills. The population in this study was students from grade X Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Baitul Qurro Islamic Senior High School, with a sample size of 44 students drawn from the overall population. The instrument employed was a multiple-choice with up to 15 items about viruses related concepts. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study revealed that 50% of students have low biology literacy skills. The highest percentage of students' biological literacy skills was found in indicator 4 (interpreting the role of viruses in life), 61%, while the lowest was in indicator 3 (analyzing virus replication), with 42%. The percentage of students' literacy skills in each level of biological literacy was highest at the structural level, with 58%, while the lowest was at the nominal level, with 44%. The low level of student biological literacy indicates that research is needed to find the right strategy to improve biological literacy skills in learning.

Abstract

Developing students' critical thinking skills in learning was an effort to improve learning outcomes. However, critical thinking skills were still not fully developed. The development of Digestipedia-web or website-based media was expected to improve students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility and quality of Digestipedia-web media in improving critical thinking skills. This study used the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model. The research was carried out in November 2022. The developed media was tested for feasibility in terms of material, media and language by two expert validators. The effectiveness of the developed media was tested on 35 students at SMAN 18 Tangerang Regency, Indonesia. The overall results of the media test were categorized as valid and feasible. The results of the students' post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores. The results of the media effectiveness test with the N-Gain test obtained the medium category. The conclusion of this study showed that Digestipedia-web was valid and feasible to use as a learning medium and can improve critical thinking skills in digestive system material.

Abstract

This research is motivated by educators who do not optimize learning media in teaching biology in high school, so this will have an impact on students' thinking skills at a concrete level. This study aims to develop learning and the application of multimedia to improve students' thinking power. This study uses the Borg and Gall development model through the stages of research and information gathering, planning, initial product development, initial field trials, main product revisions, main field trials, product revision operations, operational field trials, final product revisions, outreach, and implementation. Follow-up research combined with quasi-experimental research. This multimedia validation involves media experts, content experts, and linguists as well as students. The research instrument used was in the form of multiple-choice questions. The development results have been assessed by expert judgment. The developed multimedia learning can be used well at the high school level in Class XI IPA and is classified as very good. The results obtained for improving students' thinking skills in biology learning can be used in the learning process by obtaining the results of increasing students' thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to develop hormone system teaching material for distance learning DL through Moodle to improve students' digital literacy. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which has the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The developed teaching material was tested for feasibility on the material, media, and language aspects by six expert validators. Two biology teachers and students from senior high school SMAN 3 Bekasi also tested the developed teaching material. The results showed that the hormone system teaching material for DL through Moodle had an average value of 3.40 (very valid) on the material aspect, 3.30 (very valid) on the media aspect, and 3.03 (valid) on the language aspect. The Biology teacher’s trial obtained an average value of 3.45 (very valid) and an average of 3.32 (very valid) for the students’ trial. The hormone system teaching materials for DL through Moodle has a final average value of 3.30 from a maximum value of 4.00. It shows that the hormone system teaching material for DL through Moodle is very valid to be used as a learning medium for hormone systems in schools and is expected to improve students' digital literacy.
