Abstract

Managing innovation in education is key in facing the era of globalization and constant technological development. Innovation plays an important role in creating a dynamic and relevant learning environment. However, managing innovation in education is not easy, because it involves a deep understanding of various aspects, including student needs, resources, scientific developments, and social and political factors. The innovation management process includes the stages of identification, development, implementation and evaluation of innovation. The aim is to improve the quality of education, student competitiveness, efficiency and inclusiveness. However, in the real world, the introduction of innovations often encounters resistance to change, resource limitations, technological problems, and administrative barriers. In the digital era, the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology in education has changed the paradigm. AI technology enables personalization of learning, efficiency, and collection of data for improvement. However, challenges include infrastructure, staff training, data privacy, and cultural change. A participatory approach, involving all stakeholders in decision-making and implementation of innovation, is an effective method in overcoming challenges and maximizing the benefits of AI technology in higher education. Both case studies underscore the importance of managing innovation and AI technology in education to improve the quality of learning, student engagement and development of relevant skills. But challenges such as infrastructure, training and privacy issues need to be addressed tactfully according to the context of each educational institution.

Abstract

The relevance of higher education curricula to the evolving needs of industry is key to providing students with the skills and knowledge they need. A new approach to curriculum development is needed, which includes several important aspects. First, the relevance of the curriculum must be placed in a broader social context, taking into account the social impact and contribution of students to society. Project-based learning is also emerging as an effective model, involving students in research or problem-solving projects that provide real-world experience. The importance of formative assessment as a tool for providing feedback that helps students improve their understanding is also highlighted. Involving students as active partners in curriculum development can create greater engagement. The curriculum must be able to accommodate student diversity and promote inclusivity. A competency-based approach emphasizes the development of practical skills that are relevant to the real world. A curriculum that is responsive to industry changes provides graduates with skills that increase their competitiveness in the job market. Close collaboration with industry is a key factor in ensuring curriculum relevance. Continuous evaluation, industrial training for lecturers, and flexibility in the curriculum are important strategies. The relevance of the curriculum is the key to creating graduates who are ready to face the ever-growing world of work and contribute to industrial innovation. This approach recognizes the importance of renewal and relevance in higher education to produce graduates who are ready to face changes in the ever-evolving world of work. This is a challenge and opportunity to create future leaders who innovate, are open-minded, and able to adapt to rapid changes in the dynamic world of work. In the era of globalization and technological development, the relevance of higher education curricula is becoming increasingly important to ensure graduates have relevant skills.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to describe and evaluate the implementation of community service conducted by the author from the Graduate Program of Universitas Kristen Indonesia Jakarta to build community awareness of education and health, two forgotten areas that this service targeted for the Hmong tribe in Ban Nong, Hadxayfong District, Vientiane Prefecture, Laos. The steps and strategies chosen for this Hmong community outreach included a survey of health care and education opportunities and partner referrals on which the strategies were based. The strategy included counseling on healthy teeth and nails and promotion of the importance of schooling, especially for children, delivered through education, especially for young families (counseling on healthy teeth and nails and counseling on the essence of education), conducted through presentations to the participants with the support of World Prayer International. We conducted the outreach over a one-week period, during which it gave approximately 100 participants including mothers and children education and demonstrations on how to properly brush their teeth and take care of their nails to keep them free from disease. On average, 60% of the participants who attended this counseling claimed to understand how to brush their teeth properly, how to care for and clean their nails, and the importance of education for children. Awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and nails increased by 10% after they received the education. The outreach and community engagement strategy, especially the provision of toothbrush and nail clipper packs, made the outreach more effective as the researchers practiced it directly in front of the participants.
