Abstract

This study analyzes the status of village apparatus personnel in the village government system in Indonesia, especially from the perspective of legal certainty and state administrative law. Although village officials play an important role in public services at the village government level, uncertainty regarding the status of village officials, especially whether village officials are recognized as State Civil Apparatus (ASN) or Government Employees with Employment Agreements (PPPK), pose problems in aspects of welfare, career stability, and service professionalism. This study uses a normative juridical analysis method, this study examines the role of the state in providing clear legal guarantees for village officials through the formation of specific regulations with an approach to analysis, legislation and case studies. Based on the findings of the research, the need for the formulation of policies that recognize village apparatus as part of ASN or PPPK, as well as the regulation of welfare and work capacity of village apparatus, is an important recommendation to increase the effectiveness of village government based on the principle of legal certainty and state administrative law. The conclusions and suggestions from this study are expected to create a more transparent, accountable, and professional village government, in accordance with the goal of village autonomy mandated by Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages and its latest changes.

Abstract

The media can influence public perceptions of gender roles, including the role of women in leadership positions. The Korean drama ‘Queen Maker’ is an interesting example of the role of visual media in portraying women's struggle for gender equality. Exploring audience reactions to this drama is important to understand how the media can change public perceptions of women's leadership. The theoretical basis for this study is Stuart Hall's Audience Reception Theory. It draws on the concepts of film as mass communication, women in leadership, gender, feminism, stereotypes, and patriarchal culture. This study uses a qualitative approach with a reception analysis method. The data collection tool used is Forum Group Discussion (FGD), a constructivist paradigm with data analysis that includes data reduction activities, data presentation and inference. The results of FGD show that each informant has a meaning (decoding) that can be categorised into three positions: Dominance, Negotiation and Opposition. The results of the study suggest that audiences have a dominant understanding of the portrayal of female leadership in drama, that the female leadership portrayed in the Korean drama Queen Maker shows the resourcefulness and strategic abilities of women in achieving political goals.

Abstract

Sustainable development at the local level necessitates active community participation, bolstered by educational innovation and the optimisation of empowering institutions such as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). This research investigates the impact of the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory and BUMDes on development in the Bokoharjo, Prambanan, Sleman Regency. Specifically, the study examines three key areas: (1) the influence of the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory on development, (2) the role of BUMDes in facilitating development, and (3) the collaborative effect between the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory and BUMDes on regional growth. A quantitative approach was employed, sampling nine individuals from Bokoharjo Village from September to October. Data collection involved questionnaires, while data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression tests, with the instrument's validity assessed through the product-moment method. The results reveal that: (1) the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory has a significant influence on enhancing development, with a significance value of 0.000; (2) BUMDes plays a crucial role in contributing to development, also with a significance value of 0.000; and (3) the combination of the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory and BUMDes demonstrates a significant influence on development, with a p-value of 0.000. These findings underscore the importance of synergetic educational innovation and local community empowerment in promoting sustainable development.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Interdisciplinary Hypothetical Inquiry (IHI) learning model that is (1) feasible and practical, and (2) determine the effectiveness of this model in improving undergraduate students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and computational thinking skills (CTS) in solving social problems in social science (IPS) education study programs. This research uses a design and development research approach which includes six stages: (1) problem identification, (2) goal description, (3) product design and development, (4) product testing, (5) evaluation of test results, and (6) communication of results. The development of the IHI learning model was tested through (1) feasibility tests by expert lecturers in the field of education, evaluation experts, and social science experts; (2) practicality test through observation of learning implementation and responses from lecturers and student users; and (3) effectiveness test using a quasi-experimental method with a sample of undergraduate students in Social Sciences Education, Yogyakarta State University. The research instruments include expert lecturer review and assessment sheets, HOT and CT test questions, observation sheets on the implementation of the IHI model, and user response questionnaires. The research results show that the IHI learning model (1) is feasible based on the assessment of expert lecturers; (2) practical with an implementation score of 4.54 (very practical), a lecturer response score of 3.9 (very practical), and a student response score of 4.5 (very practical); and (3) potentially effective based on the higher N-Gain HOTS and CTS values in the experimental class (0.63 and 0.56) compared to the control class (0.59 and 0.15), as well as the t-test results with significance value 0.00 (p < 0.05). The student-centered IHI learning model encourages collaboration and democratic learning through the stages: 1) problem orientation, (2) hypothesis brainstorming, (3) hypothesis development, (4) investigation design, (5) investigation data collection, (6) interpretation of investigation data, (7) reporting and communication of results. This research concludes that the IHI learning model is feasible, practical, and effective for increasing HOTS and CTS for students in the social studies education study program.

This research aims to analyze the inhibiting factors of character education implementation in Indonesia and to provide recommendations for enhancing its effectiveness. The method used is a literature study, analyzing 10 relevant sources published between 2019 and 2024. The research instrument consists of a literature analysis questionnaire, and the data analysis technique used is content analysis. The analysis results identify several inhibiting factors, such as an unsupportive school environment, a lack of teacher commitment as role models, and minimal family awareness of their role in character education. An unfavorable school environment affects student motivation, while the lack of role modeling from teachers reduces the effectiveness of character education. Additionally, the lack of family awareness impacts the support needed by children in character formation. Recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of character education implementation include strengthening cooperation among schools, families, and communities, improving the quality of the learning process, and developing a school culture that supports character education. This research shows that collaborative efforts and systemic improvements are vital to achieving optimal character education goals in Indonesia.Abstrak: Pendidikan karakter merupakan aspek penting dalam membentuk generasi muda yang berkualitas dan berakhlak baik. Abstract

The method used in this research is development research or Research and Development (R&D) adapted and modified from Branch's ADDIE Model, which consists of five steps. This study aims to (1) describe the process of developing Focusky learning media for the subject of business entities in the Indonesian economy and (2) evaluate how well the media improves the critical thinking skills of high school students. The uniqueness of this study lies in the integration of Focusky a tool rarely explored in economics education with a structured instructional design to encourage critical thinking. In this study, questionnaires and observations were used as data collection methods. Eleventh-grade IPS students at SMAN Pakusari will be the subjects of the study for the product effectiveness test, which will be conducted using effect size calculations and the Paired Sample T-Test. IBM SPSS 29 is used to assist with data analysis in this research. The results show that the integration of Focusky media significantly supports the development of students' critical thinking. Through engaging visual content and interactive features, this media facilitates deeper understanding and active learning. These findings emphasize the potential of technology-based learning tools to enrich classroom experiences and promote essential 21st-century skills in economic education. From the results of the statistical research, it shows that the Focusky learning media is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills based on the significance values of the pretest and posttest from the small group (0.046 < 0.05) and the large group (0.049 < 0.05). The effect size test results for the small group received a value of 0.79 and for the large group received a value of 0.80. Both values indicate that the developed Focusky media has a significant impact on enhancing students'critical thinking.
