Abstract

Fenomena yang diteliti tentang komunikasi yang dibangun oleh public relations PT Santos. Pada praktiknya komunikasi tidak berjalan baik sehingga diperlukan pendekatan khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendekatan komunikasi antara public relations Santos dengan masyarakat Gili Genting Madura Provinsi Jawa Timur. Untuk menemukan tujuan tersebut, peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi etnografi public relations. Studi ini berfokus pada perilaku komunikasi untuk membangun hubungan. Dalam hal ini adalah komunikasi empati public relations dalam membangun hubungan dengan masyarakat Gili Genting. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan wawancara mendalam yang melibatkan delapan orang informan. Adapun teori yang digunakan yaitu teori public relations budaya, komunikasi empati dan manajemen hubungan. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa pendekatan komunikasi empati public relations PT Santos, dipengaruhi oleh budaya lokal. Budaya sebagai konteks komunikasi untuk memahami situasi masyarakat setempat. Hal ini dilakukan melalui kegiatan analisis situasi. Selanjutnya, public relations membuat perencanaan komunikasi meliputi pembuatan program, sosialisasi program, dan evaluasi program. Pendekatan yang dilakukan melalui keterlibatan secara langsung dengan kegiatan masyaraat. Public Relations menyesuaikan diri, melakukan adaptasi dengan lingkungan setempat. Penyesuaian meliputi bahasa dan gaya berpakaian. Hal ini sangat membantu perolehan data yang dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar pembuatan dan sosialisasi program. Keterlibatan diri dengan menposisikan sebagai anggota masyarakat setempat merupakan bagian dari upaya komunikasi empati yang dibangun oleh public relations. Komunikasi ini dilandasi oleh rasa percaya dan keterbukaan sehingga dapat membangun relasi budaya.

Abstract

Background: In preserving cultural sustainability, one needed to be done is to maintain cultural resilience. Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) producing bamboo craft workshop activities in order to do so. The workshop is part of a Public Relations event that is carried out on an ongoing basis. However, there is a need of strategy to have that workshop run optimally. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the design of a public relations event program in the form of a bamboo craft workshop at SAU. Methods: Six informants were involved and determined purposively, including workshop organizers, presenters, and workshop participants. Results: The results of this study show the existence of workshop stages relevant to the IPPAR model (Insight, Program Strategic, Program Implementation, Action, and Reputation). Insight is the initial preparation stage or situation analysis. Program strategy is the planning stage in the form of a program strategy. Program implementation is the implementation stage, and action and reputation is a public assessment as feedback from activities implementation. Conclusion: Public relations events are needed to manage the image and reputation of Angklung’s cultural values. Implications: The results of this study are expected to impact local government policies in managing cultural arts events. The results of this study can also be used as a development of public relations event studies in the context of culture or cultural public relations.

Abstract

Background: Sports tourism is a new approach to growing public interest in sports. Sports tourism is expected to foster interest in sports and build an image of sport tourism as a dual force that can help economic growth. Purpose: The research was conducted at Kiara Artha Park, one of the sports tourism sites in Bandung. The aim is to analyze the stages of forming the image of Kiara Artha sports tourism. Methods: Using a qualitative and phenomenology approach, involving 11 informants: Kiara Artha Park managers, tenants, and visitors. Results: The study results explain that the image built in Kiara Arta Park is a place of recreation with the concept of healthy living. The stages of building the image of Kiara Artha Park begin with the commitment of the management to prepare facilities in the form of green open land designed as a recreational park and exercise. They are also conducting socialization in conventional media, building sports community support, and managing community participation of social media users. Conclusion: The image of Kiara Artha Park as a tourist sport place is built through public awareness as users need a place to exercise and recreation. The two combined concepts encourage interest in maintaining a healthy life. Thus, the type of image formed is a user image or image built by consumers based on personal needs related to personality, lifestyle, and social status. Implications: The results of this study can provide input to the management and government of the city of Bandung as a policy in every tourist destination to provide sport tourism facilities as an additional public space that can improve the physical and mental health of the community.

Abstract

Background: Social media has become a strategic medium for building political personal branding. Kang Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) utilizes platforms such as YouTube and TikTok to display a leadership style close to the community. One of his viral contents, “nanti dijemput ke barak (to be picked up to the barrack)”, reflects a personal branding strategy based on local cultural values. Purpose: This research analyzes KDM’s digital personal branding strategy against visual and verbal narratives in digital content and public responses. Methods: It uses a descriptive qualitative method with a cultural public relations approach, a communication approach that emphasizes aspects of West Javanese local culture in building and managing relationships. To collect the data, the study examined verbal and visual data on videos on KDM social media accounts. Results: Kang Dedi Mulyadi builds an image as a humanist leader, simple, and attached to Sundanese cultural values. The phrase ‘picked up to the ‘barracks’symbolizes the emotional closeness between the leader and the people. This strategy is effective because it combines populist approaches, local wisdom, and digital storytelling. Conclusion: KDM’s personal branding represents local culture in a communicative and modern way. Implications: The theoretical implications show the importance of integration between political and cultural communication. Meanwhile, this strategy can be a model for other public figures in building an authentic and relevant image in the digital space.
