Abstract

Instilling a leader character with integrity is an important requirement to be achieved in the educational process. The values that are embedded in the personality of the Ar-Rohmah students have a positive impact in contributing to the organization both within the orphanage and in the community. This study aims to describe the concept, implementation, and results of implementing the character of a leader with integrity in the Ar-Rohmah santri organization. This type of research is qualitative research, with a natural approach (natural setting). The subjects of this research were the leaders of the orphanage, the care department, and the head of the ISA organization (Ar-Rohmah Santri Association). Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation of data related to research. The analysis technique used is the Milles and Huberman qualitative analysis model, data reduction, data display, and verification. Checking the validity of the data uses triangulation: credibility, transferability, precedence, and confirmability. The findings of this research are that the cultivation of a leader character with integrity in the Ar-Rohmah Santri Association (ISA) organization begins with systematic and measurable concept planning by the ISA chairman. The results of the planning are then implemented based on daily, weekly, monthly and annual programs using three methods, namely communication methods, evaluation and providing sanctions to students who violate them.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze more deeply about the effectiveness of the realization of the Hubbul Ilmii book in improving basic reading skills in lower grade students. These namely students are at the elementary school level from grade 1 to grade 3. This study was conducted at the Griya Qur'an Al Inayah Pulung Ponorogo Foundation. The method used is a qualitative approach to the case study type, data collection used with semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. The primary data sources in this study were the female teachers who accompanied the study, the students, and the head of the foundation. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model, namely data collection, reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Data validity was carried out by triangulation, which includes technical triangulation, data source triangulation, and time triangulation. The results of this study were found to be obstacles to students' reading difficulties in elementary schools, namely difficulty in distinguishing the same letter shapes. The realization of learning media used from the Hubbul Ilmii book can facilitate students' early reading skills with the introduction of vowels and syllables in just 36 meetings divided into three levels, increasing children's reading skills at each meeting. The use of Hubbul Ilmii book media and the method of cutting, coloring and sticking letters can have a positive impact on students, especially in terms of learning basic reading. Students become more focused, do not feel bored and can be involved in direct learning. In addition, students also find it easy to accept learning, making it easier for teachers to transfer knowledge to students.

Abstract

The phenomenon of stagnation in learning approaches in traditional Islamic boarding schools encourages the need for innovation to remain relevant in the digital era without abandoning the basic values of Islamic education. This study aims to examine the implementation of educational tools at the Darul Fikri Islamic Boarding School as part of learning innovation based on spiritual values and Islamic educational philosophy. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with female teachers and students. The results of the study show that traditional educational tools such as blackboards and yellow books still dominate in religious learning because they are considered effective in deepening understanding and fostering perseverance in learning. However, modern tools such as laptops and projectors are beginning to be used selectively for general subjects such as science and foreign languages to increase engagement and effectiveness in learning. Educators interpret these tools not as the main goal, but as a means or supporting means to help achieve the main values of Islamic boarding schools such as manners, closeness between teachers and students, and sincerity in learning. The conclusion of this study confirms that the integration of traditional and modern tools in Islamic boarding schools must remain based on Islamic spiritual and ethical values so as not to shift into secularization of education. The implication is that the wise use of educational tools can strengthen the quality of learning while maintaining the distinctive character of Islamic boarding schools. The limitations of this study lie in the scope that only covers one institution and has not compared similar implementations in other Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, further research is recommended to reach more institutions and evaluate the long-term impact of educational tool innovation on the formation of the character of students as a whole.

Abstract

The vision of Islamic education in the 21st century focuses on creating individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, morally upright (akhlaqul karimah), and capable of facing global challenges. In this context, the role of teachers is crucial as value transmitters and guides for a quality generation. This article aims to examine the impact of the 21st-century Islamic education vision on the role of teachers and to identify the challenges while reinforcing their position in education. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study explores 21st-century Islamic education at PAS Baitul Qur’an and finds that today’s teachers must not only master Islamic knowledge but also possess technological skills, creative teaching methods, and the ability to foster students' character development. Some challenges include a lack of training, shifts in learning approaches, and limited institutional support. Therefore, strategies to strengthen the teacher's role should involve professional development, spiritual reinforcement, and collaboration between schools and the government.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation and effectiveness of the principal's leadership strategy in developing teacher competency at SDN Gupolo Ponorogo. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of the leadership strategies applied in the elementary school context. Data collection was conducted through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Research informants consisted of the principal, class teachers, and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers who were purposively selected based on their involvement in school programs. The researchers analysed the data using the interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. They also tested data validity through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the principal implemented leadership strategies in a planned, systematic, and sustainable manner through motivation, academic supervision, internal and external training, and integration of local wisdom-based school programs. To implement these strategies, the principal integrated the school's vision and mission into various educational programs, such as religious activities, reog performances, and routine sports involving teachers. The implementation of these leadership strategies proved effective in improving teachers' pedagogical, professional, and social competencies. These improvements are evident in teachers' ability to manage learning more systematically, increased participation in professional development, and the development of communication and collaboration skills through involvement in school activities. Furthermore, the integration of local wisdom-based programs provides a more contextual and meaningful learning experience for both teachers and students. Local culture-based activities not only serve as a means of cultural preservation but also serve as a medium for holistic teacher competency development. Research findings indicate that leadership strategies integrated with school culture and local programs can create a professional learning environment that supports continuous improvement in educational quality. Therefore, principal leadership strategies based on local programs can be a relevant approach to developing teacher competency in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) instruction for inclusive students in a pesantren educational setting. The background of this study is based on the need for adaptive and responsive learning that accommodates the diversity of students’ abilities, including those with special needs, who require a more participatory and contextual learning approach. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation of the PBL-based PAI learning process. The results indicate that the application of the PBL model enhances students’ active engagement in the learning process, fosters critical thinking skills, and deepens their understanding of religious concepts. Additionally, this model provides space for students with special needs to learn according to their individual abilities and learning styles through group work and the resolution of real-world problems relevant to daily life. Challenges identified include limited learning resources and the need for intensive support for certain students. Nevertheless, overall, the implementation of PBL in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) has proven effective in creating inclusive, interactive, and meaningful learning. Thus, the Problem-Based Learning model can serve as a relevant alternative learning strategy to support inclusive Islamic religious education within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the formation of students' religious character at SDIT Nurul Iman Purwantoro. The research method used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with PAI teachers and the principal. The results showed that PAI teachers have very adequate pedagogical competence, characterized by the ability to understand the uniqueness of student learning styles, design differentiated learning, and integrate PAI with other subjects. The principal applies a collaborative-humanist leadership style that empowers teachers and builds a religious school culture. Supporting factors for the formation of religious character include teacher role models, a conducive school environment, structured religious programs, adequate facilities, and synergy with parents. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include a lack of consistency in the application of values, external environmental influences, and limited internal awareness of students. This study concludes that the pedagogical competence of PAI teachers and the collaborative leadership of the principal contribute significantly to the quality of PAI learning and the formation of students' religious character.
