Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of competence and work environment on improving the performance of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) employees, with work motivation as an intervening variable in the Regional Secretariat of Tebing Tinggi City. The study uses a quantitative method with a survey approach, distributing questionnaires to ASN employees. Data analysis was performed using path analysis to determine both direct and indirect effects between variables. The results show that competence and work environment have a positive and significant effect on work motivation and performance improvement. Competence (X1) positively influences work motivation (Z) with a path coefficient of 0.502 and performance improvement (Y) with a path coefficient of 0.444. Work environment (X2) positively influences work motivation (Z) with a path coefficient of 0.369, and performance improvement (Y) with a path coefficient of 0.404. Work motivation (Z) positively affects performance improvement (Y) with a path coefficient of 1.017. Performance improvement (Y) significantly mediates the relationship between competencies (X1) and work motivation, as well as between the work environment (X2) and work motivation. These findings confirm that optimizing ASN performance can be achieved by enhancing competencies, fostering a supportive work environment, and increasing work motivation.

Abstract

Human resource management (HRM) constitutes a critical determinant of a company’s ability to achieve organizational objectives and sustain employee productivity. This study aims to examine the influence of competence, compensation, and communication skills on employee work productivity at PT Putra Darma Indonesia, a company operating in the coffee industry and export sector. The company faces several challenges, including suboptimal employee competence resulting from limited training opportunities, a compensation system that has yet to fully align with employees’ needs and expectations, and inadequate communication skills due to ineffective formal communication channels. This research was conducted to evaluate the extent to which these three variables contribute to employee productivity. The findings reveal that competence does not exert a significant influence on work productivity, whereas compensation and communication skills demonstrate significant effects, with communication skills exhibiting a negative directional relationship. Simultaneously, the three variables collectively influence employee productivity. These findings indicate that the company should optimize its compensation system while also reassessing and strengthening competence development and communication practices to improve employee productivity more effectively.

Abstract

The research analysis aims to determine the influence of work communication and job satisfaction on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 1 Kutambaru, Langkat Regency. The research approach used is a quantitative associative approach. This study employed multiple linear regression analysis with a sample of 30 respondents. Primary data collection used a questionnaire. The results of the study indicate that the work communication variable has a t count of 4.358 and a t table of 2.051831, so t count > t table (4.358 > 2.051831) with sig. 0.000 < 0.05 so that the results of the study accept H1. It can be explained that the work communication variable (X1) influences the teacher performance variable (Y). The job satisfaction variable has a t count of 4.274 and a t table of 2.051831, so t count > t table (4.274 > 2.051831) with sig. 0.000 < 0.05 so that the results of the study accept H2. It can be explained that the job satisfaction variable (X2) influences teacher performance (Y). The results of this study indicate that the f count value = 15.196 > f table 3.35 with sig. 0.000 < 0.05. So it can be concluded that H3 is accepted. Where the work communication variables (X1) and job satisfaction (X2) simultaneously have a positive influence.
