Abstract

There are several courses at the State University of Malang, Faculty of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department, one of which is Machine Assembly and Installation which studies knowledge related to management, procedures and materials used to assemble and install machines. The learning process is not optimal because there is no demonstration of the use of lifting aircraft due to limited availability. Therefore, learning media innovations are needed that aim to contain comprehensive material and visualizations lifting aircraft in 3D. Digital AR learning media that is easy to operate by students flexibly. Developing augmented reality-based learning media on lifting aircraft for engine assembly and installation courses and testing its feasibility are the objectives of this study. This development uses the ADDIE model. The results of this study are as follows: (1) material validation obtained a percentage value of 94.31%, which is classified as very feasible; (2) media expert validation showed the feasibility level with a percentage of 93.75%; and (3) the results of small group trials showed a very feasible level with a percentage of 90.12%. The implication of this research is to increase learning effectiveness, increase student learning motivation and facilitate teaching lecturers in the knowledge transfer process.

Abstract

This research highlights the significance of developing innovative learning media to enhance effective learning for class X Software Engineering (RPL) students at SMK Negeri 4 Malang. The study addresses the need to improve student engagement and deepen understanding of concepts, particularly in Control Structure and Branching material. The primary objective is to create an interactive and innovative Flipbook-based e-module as practicum media to support the learning process. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate), this research employs a systematic and structured approach in developing learning products. The Flipbook-based e-module achieved a feasibility score of 90% from material experts and 97.5% from media experts, indicating its high validity and feasibility. During the trial phase, the e-module obtained feasibility score of 89% from a small group and 90% from a large group, resulting in an average feasibility score of 89.5%. These findings demonstrate that the Flipbook-based e-module is highly suitable for implementation in the Vocational Basics subject for class X RPL students at SMK Negeri 4 Malang. Additionally, the small group test showed a student learning motivation score of 85.4%, while the large group test yielded 87%, with an average of 86.2%. This indicates that the developed product significantly supports students’ learning motivation, proving its high validity in improving engagement and understanding. These results affirm the Flipbook-based e-module is potential as an effective learning tool for vocational education.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in the IPAS Project Subject on the employability skills of students at State Vocational High School 1 Pasuruan. The research was conducted to address the growing demand for vocational graduates who possess not only technical competencies but also essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, adaptability, responsibility, and time management. A quasi-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design was employed, involving 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an employability skills questionnaire, observation sheets, and a project assessment rubric. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ employability skills after the implementation of PjBL. The mean pre-test score of 66.47, which indicated a moderate level of employability skills, increased to 82.63 in the post-test, placing students in the high category. Statistical analysis using a paired-sample t-test showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (t = –14.872, p < 0.05), and the effect size calculation (Cohen’s d = 2.86) indicated a very large impact of the intervention. These findings demonstrate that Project-Based Learning is an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing employability skills in vocational education, particularly when integrated into interdisciplinary subjects such as IPAS within the Kurikulum Merdeka framework. Despite limitations related to the absence of a control group, the small sample size, and the short duration of implementation, this study provides empirical evidence supporting the integration of PjBL as a strategic method to strengthen students’ readiness for the world of work.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationships between digital literacy, self-efficacy, and decision-making and career adaptability, with learning agility as a mediating variable among vocational high school students. A quantitative design was employed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The sample comprised vocational students majoring in automotive engineering who had completed fieldwork practice. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using AMOS. The findings reveal that digital literacy, self-efficacy, and decision-making significantly predict learning agility. However, these variables do not exert a significant direct effect on career adaptability. Learning agility fully mediates the relationships between digital literacy, self-efficacy, decision-making, and career adaptability. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting learning agility as a critical mechanism for enhancing career adaptability in vocational education contexts, emphasizing its role in bridging key individual competencies and adaptive career outcomes.

Abstract

In the digital transformation era, computational thinking is vital in engineering education, yet its integrated role in shaping electrical engineering students’ career identity remains underexplored. This study aims to analyse the conceptual relationship between computational thinking and the career identity of electrical engineering students within the context of engineering higher education. The study employed a structured narrative review of 31 reputable international journal articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, published between 2022-2026. The analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, open coding, theme categorisation, and narrative synthesis to identify patterns of relationship among computational thinking, career identity, and psychosocial linking factors. The findings indicate that computational thinking should not be positioned merely as a learning outcome, but rather as an epistemic-professional resource that has the potential to strengthen the career identity of electrical engineering students. This relationship does not occur directly; instead, it is mediated by self-concept, sense of belonging, and career aspirations. This review proposes a conceptual model in which engineering learning experiences foster the development of computational thinking, which subsequently strengthens students’ perceptions of competence and academic meaningfulness, thereby contributing to the formation of career identity. These findings extend the existing literature by integrating computational thinking, engineering identity, and psychosocial factors into a unified framework that is relevant to electrical engineering education.

Abstract

The Ministry of Education and Culture in 2016 made one of the breakthrough programs in an effort to organize and fulfill productive teachers in Vocational High Schools (VHS), namely through the Dual Skills Program (DSK). The DSK is implemented to support the improvement of vocational education as well as education and job skills training. Meanwhile, DSK participating teachers must have new competencies that can be used to teach productive subjects in certain areas of expertise. Increasing the competence of DSK participants needs to take into account the development of transferable skills obtained after conducting training or in the process of implementing DSK. The aims of this study are to 1.) Determine the types of transferable skills that DSK participant teachers need to possess; and 2.) Analyze and describe the transferable skills of teachers of vocational high school on-in-on-in DSK in Malang Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach. The samples used were all vocational high school teachers who took part in the on-in-on-in DSK in Malang Regency, while the respondent's data collection used a questionnaire. The results showed that the types of transferable skills consist of communication skills, planning skills, interpersonal skills, work attitude skills, organizational skills, financial management skills, and critical thinking skills. The transferable skills of teachers of vocational high school on-in-on-in DSK in Malang Regency were in a good category.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based learning media on student learning outcomes in the subject of Grinding Machining Engineering at vocational high school level. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with the One Group Pretest–Posttest Design model. The subjects of this study were 25 students of class X in the Welding Engineering program at SMK Turen. Data collection was conducted using objective multiple-choice tests consisting of 20 items that had passed validity and reliability testing with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.745. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, Independent Sample T-Test, and N-Gain analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The results showed that the average posttest score in the AI-based learning group was higher than the pretest score. The Independent Sample T-Test showed a significance value of <0.001, indicating a significant difference between AI-based learning and Direct Instruction methods. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis showed that the AI-based learning group obtained a higher average score (0.615) compared to the Direct Instruction group (0.453), both categorized as moderate improvement. Therefore, AI-based learning media was proven to be more effective in improving student learning outcomes in Grinding Machining Engineering subjects because it provides a more interactive, adaptive, and flexible learning experience.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to look at how entrepreneurship education and students' awareness of e-commerce affect entrepreneurial inclinations through the usage of social media. In this study, there are two independent factors, entrepreneurial education (X1) and e-commerce understanding (X2), one dependent variable, entrepreneurial intention (Y), and a mediating variable, social media use (Z). This study employs a descriptive design with quantitative research methodologies. Respondents for this study were Fashion Department students at SMKN 1 Sooko Mojokerto and SMKN Jatirejo who had taken entrepreneurial courses. The study included 237 students who completed a questionnaire and were analyzed using structural equality modeling (SEM). The results of this study indicate that entrepreneurial education has a positive and significant effect on social media usage, e-commerce understanding does not have a positive and significant effect on social media usage, entrepreneurial education has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial intention, social media usage has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial intention, e-commerce understanding.

Abstract

Persistent skills mismatches and prolonged school-to-work transitions among vocational education and training (VET) graduates, intensified by Industry 4.0, highlight the need for stronger alignment between VET systems and labor market demands. Career guidance has emerged as a key institutional mechanism supporting employability and workforce readiness. However, its integrative role in linking educational outcomes with labor market needs remains insufficiently synthesized. This study systematically reviews how career guidance in VET is conceptualized, implemented, and evaluated in relation to employability. Using PRISMA guidelines, a systematic literature review was conducted across Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, ERIC, and Google Scholar, yielding 41 peer-reviewed articles. Thematic synthesis shows that career guidance functions as an integrated mechanism enhancing employability, career adaptability, and workforce readiness. Key approaches include Work-Integrated Learning, competency-based frameworks, and digital career guidance platforms, which improve career awareness and alignment with labor market needs. Challenges identified include limited institutional capacity, insufficient expertise, technological disparities, and weak labor market information systems. The study integrates Human Capital Theory, Social Cognitive Career Theory, and Career Construction Theory within a lifelong learning perspective to explain the multidimensional role of career guidance. These findings offer policy and practical insights for strengthening career guidance systems to support sustainable workforce development in the digital economy

Abstract

Career guidance is widely seen as a key lever to help align vocational education with industry needs, but integrated and industry-driven career services are still commonly lacking. The study aims to investigate the impact of an industry-oriented career guidance model on improving vocational students’ employability and alignment with workforce needs. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA framework was conducted to analyze twenty peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2015 and 2026. The review focuses on identifying conceptual developments, implementation practices, and effectiveness factors related to industry-oriented career guidance. The review also highlights enabling factors, such as institutional support, career counsellor competencies, engagement with professional industries and students’ ability to adapt to careers. In addition, career guidance is an ecosystem-oriented process that acts as a link between curriculum development, the formation of professional identity, and portfolio readiness. Theoretically, this paper has highlighted the need to reposition career guidance as a strategic element of vocational education reform; and practically it has provided avenues for developing industry-responsive guidance systems.
