Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the learning interest and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students, especially on the addition and subtraction of fractions. The background of this research problem is the low enthusiasm and learning outcomes of students in three elementary schools in Dua Koto District, Pasaman Regency, which is caused by conventional, teacher-centered, and less contextual learning methods, so that only 43–64% of students achieve learning mastery. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 39 students divided into an experimental class (PBL) at SDN 05 Tonang Raya (n=17) and a control class (Expository) at SDN 21 Kelabu (n=22). The instruments used include a learning interest questionnaire (reliability 0.875) and a learning outcome test (reliability 0.849) that have been validated by experts and tested. Inferential data analysis was performed using t-tests and F-tests after the data were declared normal and homogeneous. The results showed that the PBL model was significantly more effective than the expository model. Hypothesis testing revealed a positive effect of PBL on student learning interest, with a significance value of 0.031 (<0.05), indicated by an increase in the percentage of students in the very high category from 23.5% to 82.4% in the experimental class. PBL also had a positive effect on student learning outcomes, with a significance value of 0.016 (<0.05), as evidenced by the experimental class's posttest average (83.29), which was significantly higher than that of the control class (71.50). Furthermore, there was a significant interaction between learning interest and learning outcomes (Sig. 0.006 <0.05). The conclusion of this study is that PBL has been proven to be holistic in enhancing students' affective and cognitive aspects, making it an effective alternative learning strategy for improving the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools

Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital technology in the 21st century necessitates innovative teaching materials that foster deep conceptual understanding. This study aims to develop and evaluate a STEM-based electronic module (e-module) integrated with a deep learning approach for Grade IX junior high school science, specifically focusing on static and dynamic electricity. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), the e-module was designed to incorporate interactive multimedia, STEM-based activities, and deep learning principles—emphasizing understanding, application, and reflection. Results from expert validation (media, material, and language) yielded an average score of 90.73%, indicating very high validity. Practicality testing involving students and teachers resulted in an average score of 91.82%, categorizing the module as very practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with the average score rising from 62.50 to 85.63 and an N-Gain value of 0.62 (medium category). These findings demonstrate that the STEM-based e-module with a deep learning approach is a valid, practical, and effective tool for enhancing students' conceptual mastery in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of learning flow experience in AI-driven learning environments and its contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). A quantitative approach was employed using survey data from 316 undergraduate students experienced in AI-integrated courses across four faculties at Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that AI technological readiness has a significant positive effect on learning flow experience and mediates the influence of instructor support, community support, and teaching platform quality on learning flow. In contrast, AI digital literacy does not have a significant effect on technological readiness, indicating that technical training alone is insufficient and cannot independently build learners’ readiness without strong pedagogical and contextual support. Furthermore, AI facilitating conditions slightly but significantly strengthen the relationship between technological readiness and learning flow, suggesting their role as a contextual boundary factor. These findings highlight the importance of integrating instructional, technological, and institutional support systems in AI-driven learning. In conclusion, fostering technological readiness through supportive learning ecosystems is essential for promoting meaningful and sustainable learning experiences aligned with SDG 4.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of differentiated learning within the Independent Curriculum on students’ mastery of science content and creative thinking skills in Grade V at SDN 31 Kampung Caniago, Agam Regency. The research was motivated by the need for student-centered instruction that accommodates diverse learning needs and supports 21st-century competencies. A quantitative descriptive method with a one-shot case study design was employed. The sample consisted of 27 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observation and documentation, supported by a performance assessment instrument based on five indicators of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, and evaluation. Data were analyzed using percentage scores and N-gain. The results showed that students’ mastery of science content reached a high level, with the highest achievement in the topic Properties and Changes of Matter (88%) and the lowest in the Solar System (75%). Creative thinking skills also improved, as indicated by an increase in N-gain from 0.63 during the preparation phase to 0.72 during the presentation phase. These findings demonstrate that differentiated learning effectively enhances both content mastery and creative thinking in elementary science learning.
