Abstract

Hydroponic cultivation systems are increasingly popular among urban communities with not large land. This cultivation can provide benefits and effectiveness for those who carry it out. The wick system is one of the simple hydroponics methods that is easy to do, because it is a passive hydroponic system. This study aims to find out how the effect of shallot solution to the growth and production of bok coy plants on hydroponic cultivation of the wick system. Hydroponics of the wick system is a hydroponic method of the axis system, which is the simplest because it uses the principle of water capillarity. Distribution of nutrient solution towards root using axis intermediaries. This study used a Randomized Group Design (RDG) with 12 experimental units and the Least Significance Different (LSD) with an error rate of 5%. The concentration of shallot solution added is P0 (0%), P1(20%), and P2 (30%). The results showed that the treatment of AB mix nutrition as a hydroponic medium has a tendency to have a better effect on the growth parameters and yield of Pakcoy plants. AB mix treatment had a significant effect on production parameters, namely total wet weight, upper wet weight, root wet weight, and dry weight. Provision of shallot soak at concentrations of 20% and 30% added to hydroponic media with AB mix nutrition has not been able to improve the growth parameters and yield of Pakcoy.

Abstract

The weed known as "Alang-alang" (Imperata cylindrica) has narrow leaves and grows in upright clusters. The allelopathic chemicals contained in alang-alang have a negative effect on the germination and early growth of other plants. The purpose of this research is to determine whether alang-alang has a negative effect on the germination and early growth of mung bean plants. The Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya, was the location of this research, conducted from November 2023 to January 2024. The research was conducted in the laboratory to test seed viability and in the field (planting in polybags) to test the early growth of plants. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 4 treatments: A0, which is water control; A1: 50 grams/ liter of water ; A2: 100 grams /liter of water; A3: 150 grams /liter of water; with 6 replications. The results of this research show for laboratory research: (1) the addition of extra alang-alang allelopathy did not significantly affect the germination of mung beans but the germinated seeds were able to grow abnormally. The allelopathy treatment test from 50 to 150 g/L of water; the tested mung bean seeds still grew 100%, but 91% to 100% of the seedlings became abnormal. (2) The addition of extra alang-alang allelopathy in polybag research did not affect the growth of the number of seedlings, seedling height, number of leaves, but negatively affected stem diameter and plant wet weight.

Abstract

Nut grass is defined as a weed that can reduce agricultural yields because it contains allelopathic compounds which have a negative impact on the sprouts and initial growth rate of spinach weed. The written research aims to find out whether allelopathic extracts from sedge grass can influence the germination and initial growth of thorn spinach weed. The research was carried out using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments, each repeated six times. The treatment is defined as: A0 as a control with water, A1 with 50 grams of tekhi per liter of water, A2 with 100 grams of tekhi per liter of water, and A3 with 150 grams of tekhi per liter of water. The results of the study showed that in treatment A3 (150g tekhi/L water) on the last day, the allelopathic extract of tekhi caused abnormalities in 75.17% of spinach spinach seed sprouts. In polybags, A3 treatment (150g tekhi/L water) on the last day reduced the growth rate of the number of seedlings from 25 plants to only 1 plant (96%), with a seedling height of 1 cm and a number of leaves of 3.67 pieces. The higher the treatment dose, the greater the effect in suppressing germination and initial growth of thorn spinach weed.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer modification with the addition of Trichoderma sp. on the growth and yield of cauliflower. A Randomized Blok Design (RAK) with five treatments and four replications. The research was conducted from May to November 2024 on the land of Pondok Pesantren Bakti Bapak Emak, Bareng, Jombang. The results showed that; (a) The use of modified organic fertilizer and Trichoderma had a significant effect on cauliflower plant growth (plant height, number of leaves, and root dry weight). The K3 treatment (Nutrizim Granule Organic Fertilizer + Trichoderma) showed better results for cauliflower growth, with plant height reaching approximately 44,25 cm at 6 weeks after planting and producing an average of 21,15. (b) The treatments tested did not have a significant effect on yield parameters. However, field observations indicate that the modified organic fertilizer with added Trichoderma produced better quality cauliflowers, characterized by denser (more compact) curds, a clean yellowish-white color, and overall improved appearance.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of cocopeat as an eco-friendly planting medium, combined with NPK fertilizer and eco enzyme, to enhance the growth of microgreen water spinach. Cocopeat improves soil moisture and aeration, while NPK provides essential nutrients, and eco enzyme promotes microbial activity and root health. The experiment tested varying doses of NPK and eco enzyme in cocopeat, measuring plant height, leaf count, Vitamin A content, and sprout percentage. Results showed no interaction between NPK and eco enzyme treatments. The NPK solution in cocopeat (M2) yielded the highest growth values, while the control (M0) had the lowest. However, excessive NPK inhibited kale microgreen growth. Conversely, eco enzyme application alone did not significantly improve growth or quality. This research highlights cocopeat's potential as a sustainable medium but suggests careful NPK dosage to avoid growth suppression. While eco enzyme showed no direct impact, further studies could explore its role in nutrient absorption. The findings support eco-friendly cultivation techniques and offer insights into boosting Vitamin A in microgreen kale, contributing to sustainable agriculture and nutritional enhancement.
