Abstract

The study aims to analyze legal protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) abroad, focusing on the difference in legal protection between legal and illegal migrant workers. The urgency of this research arises from the growing number of challenges and risks faced by PMIs while working abroad, including violence, exploitation, and human trafficking. Furthermore, issues of information and preparation before departure, as well as untransparent or illegal recruitment practices, aggravate the situation of PMI. The study suggests enhanced international cooperation, strict surveillance of recruiting agents, and improved access to information for PMI as a solution to addressing this problem, ensuring that they receive strong legal protection by international and national law.

Abstract

Saleh Bay is a water area located in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, which has experienced significant coral reef ecosystem degradation due to destructive fishing practices using fish bombs. The use of fish bombs has caused severe damage to marine habitats, including a decline in biodiversity and coral reef degradation. This study aims to identify the destructive fishing activities using fish bombs in Saleh Bay and analyze alternative mitigation strategies. Data were collected through interviews, discussions, and field observations in Prajak Subvillage, Batu Bangka Village, Sumbawa Regency. The analysis methods employed were descriptive analysis and SWOT analysis. The results showed that fish bombing activities are still ongoing with 12 active perpetrators. Law enforcement measures, such as the Smart Patrol and penalties for offenders since 2019, have not fully addressed the issue. A total of 70 fish bombing sites were identified around Dangar Island, Liang Island, Lipan Island, and Rakit Island. The proposed alternative strategies in this study include strengthening community-based patrols through local monitoring groups (Pokmaswas), external collaboration for funding, livelihood training for the community, providing incentives for offenders who switch to environmentally friendly fishing methods, and increasing socialization and education regarding applicable regulations. Key words: Fish bombing, law enforcement, patrol, Prajak Subvillage, Saleh Bay

Abstract

The addition of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium minerals has been carried out separately in vannamei shrimp cultivation activities using fresh water media. Furthermore, the combination of the three types of potassium is expected to mutually fulfill the mineral needs of vannamei shrimp so that their growth becomes more optimal. This research aims to analyze the growth of vannamei shrimp reared in various media with different mineral levels. The treatments in this study were P1 (30 ppt), P2 (20 ppt), P3 (10 ppt), P4 (0 ppt without the addition of minerals), and P5 (0 ppt with the addition of various types of mineral sources). The research results show that the best SGR weight is found in P1 at 12.42%/day. The highest SR value was also obtained at P1, namely 65%. The SR and SGR values at P5 are higher than at P4, but still lower than at P1, P2, and P3. Based on these results, it is known that the growth of vannamei shrimp reared in fresh water media with added minerals has increased compared to vannamei shrimp reared in fresh water media without added minerals, but is still lower compared to the growth of vannamei shrimp reared in water media. sea. Furthermore, research is needed on adding other types of minerals to low salinity vannamei shrimp cultivation media.

Abstract

One of the most promising fisheries products in Indonesia is vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), which is also a top export comodity. From year to year the value of shrimp exports and production continues to increase. However, vaname shrimp are susceptible to bacterial and viral attacks, so countermeasures are needed, one of which is by disinfecting the cultivation media using a UV lamp. The aims of this research is to determine the level of effectiveness of UV lamps in disinfection of cultivation media. Experimental methodology with a completely randomized plan (RAL) is the method used in this research, with 4 trials and 3 replications. The results of the research conducted showed that UV lamps were able to reduce the total bacterial count to 4.69 x 108 CFU/mL at UV lamp 41 watt, reduce the total Vibrio bacteria to 30.33 x 106 CFU/mL at UV lamp 41 watt, increase the THC value to 8.83 x 106 CFU/mL cells/ml at P4, hyaline cells range from 31% – 54.67%, granulocyte cell values range from 29.33% – 42%, semigranulocyte cells range from 16% – 27%, the highest AF value at P4 is 32.19%, and the lowest in P1 was 79.69%. Based on the findings, it is possible to conclude that UV lights can be used as a disinfectant of cultivation media, but the right dose or light power is needed to get maximum results.

Abstract

Abalone shells (Haliotis sp.), known as seven-eyed shellfish, are a type of gastropod. Abalone shells have high economic value accompanied by high market demand. The selling price of abalone reaches Rp. 250,000 (shells and meat). To optimize abalone cultivation activities with a long growth time, one method is needed for cultivating abalone shells in KJA (Floating Net Cages), namely using a tiered system in one hanger with different depths, namely 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m and 5m. so that it can increase land efficiency in cultivation activities. The aim of this research is to evaluate and analyze the effect of depth on the growth and survival rate of abalone shells (Haliotis sp.) using a multilevel system. The method used in this research was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experimental method with five treatments and three replications. The results of the research conducted showed that the results of the anova test on absolute length growth, specific length growth rate, absolute weight growth, specific weight growth rate, and survival of abalone shells (haliotis sp.) showed that they had no real influence (>0.05) on the maintenance of abalone shells. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that using a tiered system at different depths does not have a real effect on the growth of abalone shells because the water quality conditions at a depth of 1-5 meters are optimal so they can support the growth of abalone shells.

Abstract

The target output of white snapper (Lates calcarifer) in 2019–2024 is 10,000–14,000 tons, making it a fish type with bright prospects and economic worth for human consumption. Having access to high-quality feed is a primary aspect in promoting fish growth. Fish will grow more when intake they are give them something they can eat well enough. This will allow the fish to use the energy they get from the feed, which calls for the use of probiotics as a supplement. Probiotics are additional food (supplements) derived from living microorganisms that balance the intestinal microbial flora in the digestive tract to provide benefits to the fish that consume them. The type of probiotic commonly used is EM4 (effective microorganism 4). This study aimed to examine the effects of commercial feed supplemented with EM4 probiotics on the growth, feed efficiency, feed conversion ratio, and survival of white snapper (Lates calcarifer). The fish used in the study were white snapper with a size of 8-11 cm and a seed weight of 5±3 g which were maintained for 60 days. Feeding was done by ad satiation. Five treatments and three replications were included in the fully randomized design of this investigation. The statistics that were noted included survival, absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, feed conversion ratio (FCR), feed efficiency (EPP), and amount of feed consumed. The effects of the EM4 probiotic dose on absolute weight and length growth were demonstrated by the results. feed efficiency, and FCR in white snapper (Lates calcarifer) gave a significantly different effect, while the amount of feed consumption and survival gave an effect that was not significantly different.
