Abstract

This community service activity aimed to empower students through bouquet-making training in order to enhance creative skills, independence, and entrepreneurial interest from an early age. The program was implemented with 35 ninth-grade junior high school students and involved 3 accompanying teachers. The methods employed included demonstration, hands-on practice, intensive mentoring, and product evaluation. The outputs of the activity consisted of student-made bouquet products and a simple bouquet-making guide intended for further learning activities at school. The results showed that 90% of students were able to create bouquets independently with good quality, while several students demonstrated improved creativity through design variations and material combinations. Questionnaire responses indicated that 100% of participants were highly satisfied with the activity, and 80% expressed interest in continuing bouquet-making at home as a potential small-scale business opportunity. These findings suggest that creative, product-based skill training not only improves students’ technical competence and creativity but also effectively fosters entrepreneurial interest at an early stage.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, partly driven by low exclusive breastfeeding rates and limited family support. Digital Family Assistance & Mentoring (DFAM) was developed as a family-centered digital intervention to support exclusive breastfeeding as a stunting prevention strategy. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of DFAM in improving knowledge, attitudes, exclusive breastfeeding practices, and family support among breastfeeding mothers. This quasi-experimental study used a pretest–posttest control group design and was conducted in Dobo, Aru Islands. A total of 70 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0–6 months were selected using purposive sampling and divided into an intervention group (n=35) and a control group (n=35). The intervention group received DFAM, while the control group received standard breastfeeding education. Data were collected using structured questionnaires. Instrument validity was tested using Pearson correlation and reliability using Cronbach’s alpha, with all instruments meeting acceptable criteria. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test (p < 0.05). Significant improvements were observed in the intervention group for attitudes (p = 0.040), exclusive breastfeeding practices (p = 0.002), and family support (p = 0.024), while knowledge improvement was not statistically significant (p = 0.120). The control group also showed significant improvements (p = 0.001), but with lower behavioral impact. DFAM is effective in improving exclusive breastfeeding practices by strengthening maternal attitudes and family support, indicating its potential as a digital, family-based strategy for stunting prevention.

Abstract

Background: Pregnant women who maintain psychological resilience during pregnancy and childbirth are less likely to undergo Cesarean sections due to anxiety. Incorporating Islamic principles—such as offering greetings and reciting "Bismillah" before procedures—can foster trust and rapport between patients and healthcare providers. Objective: This study explores how fifth-semester obstetrics students integrate Islamic values into maternal care at Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta and Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. Method: A qualitative study was conducted from March to June 2024 at both universities. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with nine obstetrics students and analyzed thematically to identify key themes. Results: Three main themes emerged: (1) Islamic values in obstetric care at Universitas 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta; (2) Islamic values at Universitas Sebelas Maret; and (3) how students incorporate these values into their practice at both institutions. Students recited "Bismillah" and expressed gratitude to Allah before and after procedures, taught patients to pray, and encouraged acts of worship such as prayer and Quranic recitation (tadarus). These practices reflect a holistic approach that combines pregnancy education with spiritual support, promoting trust and spiritual well-being. Conclusion: Fifth-semester students at both universities demonstrated a strong commitment to faith-based obstetric care. Their integration of Islamic principles into clinical practice enhances the patient experience by fostering trust, spiritual comfort, and holistic support during pregnancy and childbirth.

Abstract

The development of the digital era and global challenges requires students to have numeracy skills that include the ability to understand, analyze, and interpret quantitative information in real-life contexts. This study aims to analyze the numeracy skills of Madrasah Aliyah students in solving contextual mathematical problems. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through tests with contextual questions and in-depth interviews with 6 purposively selected grade XII MIPA students, using snowball sampling. The results showed that the student with high numeracy skills can analyze information and represent it in images and mathematical models, determine and apply strategies to solve problems, and interpret and evaluate the solution in the context of the problem. The student with moderate numeracy skills can analyze information and determine and apply strategies to solve problems, but the student can’t interpret and evaluate the results of the solution in the context of the problem. The student with low numeracy skills can’t analyze information and represent it into images and mathematical models, determine and apply strategies to solve problems, and interpret and evaluate the results of the solution in the context of the problem. Therefore, teachers need to design context-based mathematics learning and emphasize mathematical reasoning to solve problems across various contexts of daily life to optimally develop students' numeracy skills.
