Abstract

This study aims to examine the psychological and emotional state of the character Prani, a mother in the film Budi Pekerti. This study uses a qualitative method with a psychological approach, employing David Krech's theory. The film tells the story of bullying during the coronavirus pandemic. This study uses documentation techniques from scenes and dialogues in the film. The findings from the analysis of the film Budi Pekerti reveal several key data points: the psychological dynamics experienced by Mrs. Prani, her various efforts to address the issues, and the internal and external factors influencing her behaviour. The study identified external factors but did not find any internal factors. Additionally, the roles of emotions, motivation, and perception in shaping Mrs. Prani's character were examined. In terms of emotions, Mrs. Prani defends herself by answering questions from other teachers and family members with controlled emotions. In terms of motivation, Mrs. Prani always motivates her students to be better. In terms of perception, there are many perceptions from family, teachers, students, and the surrounding community that cause Mrs. Prani to be cornered and always blamed.

Abstract

The negative stigma towards PLWHA held by health workers makes people reluctant to take an HIV test because they are afraid of positive results and are worried about getting discriminatory services in primary health care. Stigma towards PLWHA occurs due to lack of knowledge about safe working methods in handling HIV/AIDS, homophobic attitudes, and religiosity. This study aims to describe the stigma and its determinants in health workers in Balikpapan City. The study design was cross-sectional. The population was health workers working in primary health care in Balikpapan City including general practitioners, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and laboratory staff. The population was 4284 people spread across 27 Health Centers in Balikpapan. The sampling type was quota sampling, calculated using the Lemeshow formula to obtain a sample size of 423. The instrument used to measure stigma was the Health Care Providers HIV/AIDS Stigma Scale (HPASS). Data analyzed using bivariat analysis. The results showed that most health workers still had a stigma towards PLWHA (53%). Individuals with the greatest high stigma were individuals who had never received HIV training (59.7%). Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between stigma and HIV training (pvalue = 0.026). Regular training is needed on handling and assisting HIV/AIDS patients for health workers in Primary Health Care, in order to controlled the stigma.

Abstract

Posyandu is a village level of health service that plays a role in improving public health, especially maternal and child health. The existence of posyandu makes an easier access for the community to  basic health services without having to travel long distances. However, the implementation of posyandu still faces various challenges, especially in how low the level of community participation is. Community empowerment with “SIGAP (Sosialisasi Gerakan Aktif Posyandu)” and “Play Corner” programs aims to increase infant and toddler visits to Posyandu Mayang Wangi through cadre empowerment and community education. The methods used include problem awareness through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), socialization planning and implementation, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test. This socialization was carried out by posyandu cadres and public health faculty students as facilitators. The socialization provided information on the importance of visiting the posyandu and nutritional problems in toddlers, as well as a "play corner" to attract children. The enthusiasm of the participants in the discussion session and evaluation through pre-test and post-test showed an improvement in knowledge of the participants, which reflected the effectiveness of the socialization presented by the cadres. The provision of a "play corner" also improved the skills and creativity of cadres in creating educational game media from used goods. This activity succeeded in building community awareness and concern for the importance of posyandu, as well as successfully empowering cadres in raising community awareness of maternal and child health.

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior has become a significant social issue among adolescents in Indonesia, particularly concerning the high rates of child marriage and unintended pregnancies. Despite efforts to promote Marriage Maturity to reduce these rates, its effectiveness requires further investigation, especially in the context of adolescent motivation to avoid risky sexual behavior. This study aims to explore adolescent motivation to avoid premarital sexual behavior by applying the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), which involves threat appraisal and coping appraisal in adolescent decision-making to delay early marriage. This research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Informant consisted of adolescents aged 15-19 years in Samarinda City who had received information about marriage maturity. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with six purposively selected Informant using intensity sampling techniques. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and documentation. Collected data were analyzed using QSR NVIVO 12 Pro. The findings reveal that adolescents’ understanding of marriage maturityis still limited, and the threat of premarital sexual behavior is perceived as low by most Informant. Factors such as perceptions of severity adolescents are quite good because they have seen firsthand the impacts of premarital sex. For response efficacy and self-efficacy in delaying the age of marriage, these are relatively high among adolescents exposed to PUP. This is because they have parental and peer support providing information related to PUP. Additionally, social environment, media exposure, and education levels shape adolescents' responses to marriage maturityas a protective measure.

Abstract

The 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Research reported that 80.5% of individuals engaged in indoor smoking. Indoor smoking poses significant health risks, notably to pregnant women and their fetuses, with one potential consequence being stunting. Pregnant women, while at risk from cigarette smoke, also play a crucial role in preventing indoor smoking to mitigate stunting risks. This study aims to explore the participation of pregnant women in supporting their partners' efforts to quit smoking, utilizing the health belief model as a framework. This was observational research with a cross-sectional design. Purposive sampling was utilized for 343 respondents, with inclusion criteria for pregnant women with smoking partners. The study applied the health belief model, examining socio-demographic factors, perceived threats (severity and susceptibility), expectations (benefits, barriers, and self-efficacy), and cues to action. Path analysis was employed for data interpretation. The findings indicate a negative significant relationship between the socio-demographic construct and perceived threats. Similarly, socio-demographic factors are significantly related to expectations in a negative manner. A positive significant relationship was observed between perceived threats and the participation of pregnant women. However, expectations did not exhibit a significant direct impact on the participation of pregnant women. Conversely, cues to action demonstrated a positively significant relationship with pregnant women's participation.

Abstract

Literary appreciation learning is an effort to increase competence in the field of literature so that Indonesian Language Education Study Program students have complete provisions as prospective educators to be implemented in school. However, in the process there are learning problems that arise, including low motivation of students in getting to know literary works of poetry and lack of knowledge when students appreciate poetry. For this reason, further research is needed to overcome this problem by learning through the application of the suggestopedia method. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method, with research subjects being students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program. Data collection techniques were carried out using documentation techniques for analyzing poetry tasks, while data analysis techniques were carried out using quantitative descriptive techniques. Based on the research, it is known that the application of the suggestopedia method can increase students' competence in appreciating poetry. This can be proven by the average score obtained during the pre-test which the average is 2.5 (the scoring guideline 1-5), while the results during the post-test or after applying the suggestopedia method in student learning obtained an average score 4.
