Abstract

Background : The utilization of modern contraceptive methods has shown little improvement over the past decade. This stagnation indicating that barriers to Family Planning (FP) utilization may be rooted not merely in awareness or attitudes, but in access and service constraints within the health system. Objective : this study aims to examine the determinants of access and service barriers to family planning utilization in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : This study is a cross-sectional design utilizing secondary data from the Indonesian Family Data Updating Survey 2024. A total of 217536 married women of reproductive age (15-49 years old) were included. Independent variables were age, marriage age, education level, insurance status, employment status, and ideal number of child. Dependent variable were barriers to family planning service. Chi-Square tests and Logistic Regression were included. Results : Of the 217,536 married women of reproductive age, the majority of respondents reported barriers categorized as non-access (57.4%) and (42.0%), only 0.6% reporting access barriers. Bivariate analysis established that all factors examined were significantly associated with the type of reported barriers. Service barriers were strongly determined by women aged 35–49 years (OR = 5.266), no formal education (OR = 1.155), informal occupation (OR = 1.178), and desiring more than two children (OR = 1.659). Access barriers was influenced by uninsured women (OR = 1.754) and no formal education (OR = 2.526). Conclusion/Lesson Learned : Policy interventions that enhance the availability, affordability, and quality of contraceptive services is essential to help the Indonesian Government designing integrated contraceptive programs to reduce inequalities in access and service barriers.

Abstract

Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : Kajian dilakukan terhadap artikel-artikel ilmiah terindeks yang dipublikasikan antara tahun 2021 hingga 2025 dengan menggunakan protokol Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), Pencarian literatur menggunakan kombinasi kata kunci seperti "merokok remaja" AND "coping stres" OR "emotional escape" AND "kesehatan mental" OR "regulasi emosi).

Abstract

The Effectiveness of the GEMES Program (Healthy Media Movement) in Improving the Knowledge of Mothers and Cadres at Posyandu Buah Hati Bunda in Samarinda. Posyandu is an essential primary healthcare service that plays a crucial role in supporting maternal and child health. However, low community participation in Posyandu Buah Hati Bunda is due to a lack of understanding among mothers about the importance of Posyandu and the services it provides. To address this issue, training was conducted for Posyandu cadres on creating informative and engaging posters. This activity aimed to enhance the cadres’ skills in delivering health information and increase community participation. The training used the Canva design application and involved Posyandu cadres, neighborhood leaders, and mothers with infants and toddlers in RT 13, Lok Bahu Village, Samarinda. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed a significant improvement in mothers’ understanding of the importance of Posyandu after receiving education through the posters. The posters produced are not only used as an educational medium but are also planned to be routinely distributed through digital media and displayed in strategic locations. This program demonstrates that enhancing Posyandu cadres’ skills in creating effective informational media can raise community awareness, support the success of Posyandu activities, and improve maternal and child health.

Abstract

Port porters are at high risk of occupational accidents and musculoskeletal disorders due to the use of non-ergonomic lifting and carrying techniques. Complaints such as pain in the back, neck, shoulders, and other body parts are common problems among stevedoring workers. This activity aims to improve the capacity of port porters through ergonomic evaluation, education, and training so they can work safely and more productively. The approach used is community empowerment with the Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) method, which includes five stages: problem identification, priority setting, program design, outcome evaluation, and follow-up. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in porter knowledge at Samarinda Port, although some participants still do not apply correct lifting techniques in the field. It is hoped that ongoing socialization activities can be carried out by trained porters to colleagues who have not received training, so that this program can be sustainable and have an impact on improving safety and work productivity.
