Abstract

There are two purposes of this study: 1) To generate student understanding of scientific learning approach to improve student comprehension on Biology concept at SMAN 1 Samarinda. 2) To generate integrated learning tools development between Problem Based Learning and Discovery Learning to improve comprehension on Biology concept at SMAN 1 Samarinda. In accordance with teacher needs, observation results analysed using descriptive qualitative methods, three main findings were obtained: 1) teachers were still likely to encounter difficulties when applying teaching and learning process in class, 2) The main difficulties experienced by teachers were due to time constraints in developing learning tools, 3) The learning tools development of the Problem Based Learning and Discovery Learning integrated learning model were considered to be important to improve student comprehension on Biology concept. The learning model used was the Problem Based Learning and Discovery Learning Integrated Learning Model .

Abstract

This qualitative study explores how preservice physics teachers think about the role that scientists play in the teaching and learning of physics. Our participants were 33 preservice physics teachers in their first year participating in a scientist partnership program through online meetings. Participants' responses were collected through an essay questionnaire, and the result was analyzed with co-occurrence network analysis. Our research shows that preservice physics teachers have a positive perspective on scientists. The primary role of a scientist is related to a person with sufficient knowledge and opinion about physics. Their role is also related to the experiment and research result. Moreover, their innovation and discovery of new physics-related things also became their central role. After preservice physics teachers interact with scientists, they have higher motivation to learn physics. Our findings suggest that the activity facilitating interaction with professional scientists must be encouraged during the preservice physics teacher program.

Abstract

Minyak goreng merupakan salah satu bahan pangan yang dimanfaatkan untuk mematangkan bahan pangan. Mengkonsumsi minyak jelantah dapat menyebabkan berbagai masalah kesehatan, misalnya kerusakan pada organ-organ bagian dalam tubuh. Dalam penelitian ini, telah diteliti proses permurnian minyak jelantah dengan mengukur kadar asam lemak (FFA) dan massa jenis minyak jelantah yang telah dijernihkan. Analisa Asam Lemak Bebas (FFA) dilakukan dengan metode Oil Pipette Titration (OPT), yaitu metode titrasi sederhana menggunakan pipet. Selain itu, dilakukan pengukuran massa jenis menggunakan piknometer sederhana. Penelitian ini menunjukkan jumlah FFA yang lebih tinggi dari maksimum 0,3% yang direkomendasikan dalam SNI 7709-2019. Dengan perlakuan terhadap minyak jelantah dengan berbagai massa sekam padi dan waktu perendaman, kandungan FFA ditemukan menurun secara signifikan. Berdasarkan 200 mL sampel minyak jelantah yang dianalisis, massa sekam padi yang efektif dalam menurunkan FFA selama 72 jam adalah 20 gr, dengan penurunan persentase kadar FFA sebesar 0,23%. Temuan dari penelitian ini mendukung potensi penggunaan adsorben sekam padi untuk mengurangi asam lemak bebas dalam minyak jelantah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis respon calon guru fisika terkait penggunaan simulasi PhET berbasis laboratorium virtual pada mata kuliah Termodinamika, khususnya materi bentuk dan perubahan energi. Angket diberikan kepada mahasiswa pendidikan fisika Universitas Mulawarman angkatan 2021 yang telah mengikuti praktikum termodinamika mengenai materi tersebut. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan skala Likert. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, indikator tampilan PhET mendapatkan presentase sebesar 75% dengan kategori cukup baik. Indikator aksebilitas PhET mendapatkan presentase sebesar 71% dengan kategori cukup baik. Indikator substansi berbasis PhET mendapatkan presentase sebesar 75% dengan kategori cukup baik. Indikator isi materi mendapatkan presentase 77% dengan kategori baik. Indikator pemenuhan kebutuhan belajar mahasiswa mendapatkan presentase 79% dengan kategori baik. Indikator kemampuan materi dengan laboratorium virtual berbasis PhET mendapatkan presentase 73% dengan kategori cukup baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan simulasi PhET memberikan respon yang cukup baik dari calon guru fisika.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi campuran bahan dapur yang dapat digunakan sebagai suplemen bahan ajar untuk materi perubahan wujud IPA SMP. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada kebutuhan untuk mengembangkan metode yang menarik dan interaktif dalam mengajar konsep perubahan wujud kepada siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen, dimana berbagai campuran bahan dapur diuji untuk mengamati perubahan wujud yang terjadi. Beberapa campuran yang diuji meliputi campuran air, garam, gula, soda kue, krim tartar, dan lainnya. Dari 9 eksperimen yang telah dilakukan, terdapat 5 eksperimen yang mengalami lebih dari satu proses perubahan wujud, sedangkan 4 eksperimen lainnya hanya mengalami satu proses perubahan wujud. Dalam konteks bahan ajar, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan campuran bahan dapur sebagai suplemen dapat menjadi alternatif bagi guru untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa. Bahan-bahan dapur yang mudah didapatkan juga membuat pengajaran lebih mudah dilakukan oleh guru dan siswa.

Abstract

In this modern era, noise has become an increasingly common and significant problem in everyday life, thus requiring the use of sound absorbers to address this noise issue. This research created a sound absorber using coconut husk waste through the impedance tube method. Sound absorbers can be made by utilizing readily available waste materials, such as coconut husk waste. The effectiveness value of the coconut fiber absorption coefficient was tested using the impedance tube. The research method employed was the impedance tube method, with variations ranging from level 1 to level 5 and frequencies of 200 Hz, 400 Hz, 600 Hz, and 800 Hz. The impedance tube lengths used in this study were 50 cm and 100 cm. The highest absorption result at a tube length of 50 cm was found at level 1 with a frequency of 200 Hz. At a tube length of 100 cm, the highest absorption value was observed at level 2 with a frequency of 600 Hz. Based on this research, it was concluded that coconut husk can minimize noise and serve as an effective sound absorber.

Abstract

The increasing demand for paper has significantly impacted the environment due to the heavy reliance on wood as a primary raw material. This study investigates the feasibility of using durian (Durio zibethinus) peels and corn (Zea mays) stalks as alternative raw materials for paper production, focusing on their physical characteristics. The paper pulp was prepared using the soda pulping method with NaOH. Various ratios of durian peels and corn stalks were mixed: 1:0 (A), 0:1 (B), 1:1 (C), 2:1 (D), and 1:2 (E). Results indicated that type D produced the thickest paper, while type A produced the thinnest. The highest grammage was observed in type E, and the lowest in type D. Type C showed the highest absorbency. The tensile and tear indexes were highest in type D and lowest in type C. Type A had the highest mass density, whereas type D had the lowest. The findings suggest that a combination of durian peel and corn stalks exhibits diverse physical properties, indicating their potential use as an alternative to conventional wood-based paper. This approach could reduce the dependency on wood and contribute to environmental conservation.

Abstract

Good university governance is expected to increase the public image which leads to promoting credibility and public participation in the role of the university. Some roles expected by society from universities are to give qualified education, develop research, transfer knowledge, culture, and technology and promote the economy within society. Continuous improvement enables universities to always increase their quality to become highly competitive. This study aims to develop strategic models for competitive university governance at the Muhammadiyah Islamic University of East Borneo. The qualitative approach with a Case study type was used in this research. The data were collected through depth-interview, participation observation, and document study. The findings concerning the strategic model of the competitive university governance characteristics were interrelated, as follows: 1). Internal Quality Factors: the Personal Character Building by developing caring spirituality, awareness, and total action in which all came from the conscience (honesty, responsibility, visionary, discipline, cooperation, just and caring. 2) External Quality Factors: the Quality Culture and IT-based organization by developing vision, mission, and organizational character, excellent leadership, stakeholder, Good University Governance management, the national standard university, Quality assurance, and creative innovation. 3) Outcome: Achieving the University Index, achieving the university roles, the graduate's competence, and consumer satisfaction, hence achieving a competitive university.

Abstract

The availability of teaching materials at school are still not enough to motivate students to learn because of lack interest, so integration of technology is needed stimulate their motivation. This research aims to develop teaching materials that can be used by teachers and students both within the school and outside the school by developing one of the Canva applications as a media for innovation in a fun learning process. The type of research used is research and development (R&D). The samples in this study were biology teachers and students of State Senior High School 1 of Long Ikis and State Senior High School 2 of Long Ikis. The data analysis technique used to measure the level of creative thinking ability through tests as well as the feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of learning media. The instruments used in this research have been tested for validity and reliability. The results of expert validation of the resulting teaching materials were very good with an average score from 3 validators of 91.15% in the (very valid) category. The teacher's assessment of the practicality of teaching materials showed a result of 91.66% (very practical), while the assessment from students received a score of 93.12% (very practical). The effectiveness of the resulting teaching materials is able to provide an increase in cognitive learning outcomes with a gain score index of 0.74 (high) and learning motivation of 0.75 (high). The results of the effectiveness test using the paired sample t-test show that there is an influence of using Canva media-based teaching materials in improving the biology learning outcomes of students at State Senior High School 1 and 2 of Long Ikis on plant tissue material.

Abstract

Pembelajaran fisika yang terkesan sulit menyebabkan siswa kurang tertarik mengikuti pembelajaran. Media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis audio-visual dengan aplikasi powtoon digunakan untuk menarik minat belajar sehingga dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat dan hasil belajar siswa setelah diterapkannya media pembelajaran interaktif. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu purposive sampling sehingga kelas X Teknik Alat Berat (TAB) dipilih menjadi sampel dari penelitian ini. Pengambilan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan angket, wawancara, dan tes tertulis. Hasil analisis angket minat belajar siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki minat yang tinggi terhadap pembelajaran dengan persentase rata-rata sebesar 83%. Minat siswa pada kategori sangat tinggi sebesar 35%, kategori tinggi sebesar 60%, dan kategori sedang sebesar 5%. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa tertarik dan bersemangat terhadap proses pembelajaran. Analisis hasil belajar siswa menunjukkan bahwa kelas X TAB memperoleh N-gain sebesar 0.66 yang termasuk kategori sedang dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 76,90.
