Abstract

Indonesia's literacy rate remains relatively low, particularly in rural areas. Community Reading Parks (Taman Bacaan Masyarakat or TBMs), as a form of non-formal education, play a strategic role in fostering a culture of literacy. However, many TBMs lack visual appeal, which often results in low reading interest among children and limited community participation. This community service program aimed to revitalize the Asyfa TBM in Ambarjaya Village through a visual arts approach based on murals, a renewal of the book collection, and the development of a wall magazine. The activities were conducted using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. The results demonstrated a significant increase in children's visits, enhanced visual appeal, and greater community participation. The mural approach proved effective in creating an inspiring and inclusive learning space. The program concludes with policy recommendations for local governments to support the replication of similar programs in other TBMs, especially in rural areas.

Abstract

Drawing training for children is an enjoyable and creative activity, yet it is often overlooked in today's digital era. This background issue arises from the fact that many children prefer to play with gadgets rather than engage in artistic activities that can enhance their motor skills and creativity. The objective of this training is to provide a fun and educational drawing experience, allowing children to express themselves through abstract art and color exploration. The training methods employed include a free and unstructured approach, color games, and emotion & imagination-based activities, which encourage children to create without limitations. The conclusion of this training indicates that drawing activities not only improve children's artistic skills but also awaken their aesthetic sensitivity and motor creativity, making art an essential medium for holistic development amidst the challenges of the modern world.

Abstract

The Ciomas Golok is one of Banten’s intangible cultural heritage items, carrying profound historical, philosophical, and social meaning. More than a traditional weapon, it represents identity, honor, and the spirit of resistance against colonial rule. This study explores the origins and genealogy of the Ciomas Golok, analyzes the philosophy of “grip strength” encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions, and explains its role as a symbol of honor within Banten society. The research also examines its transformation in the modern era and compares it with other traditional weapons in the Nusantara and abroad. A qualitative method with a cultural ethnographic framework was applied. The research took place in Ciomas District, Serang Regency, as well as in museums, traditional markets, and cultural festivals. Data collection involved participant observation, in-depth interviews with blacksmith masters, community leaders, cultural figures, and youth, supported by literature documentation. Data analysis employed semiotics and symbolic anthropology, with validity maintained through triangulation of sources, methods, and theories. Findings show that the Ciomas Golok dates back to the Banten Sultanate era, evolving from an agricultural tool and weapon of resistance into a cultural artifact and creative economic commodity. The philosophy of “grip strength” highlights holistic values the golok as a symbol of honor, responsibility, and solidarity. Its continuing presence underscores the urgency of preservation. The study concludes that safeguarding the Ciomas Golok requires collaboration among blacksmiths, local communities, government, and academics to ensure its ongoing relevance as both a cultural emblem and an expression of Indonesian national identity.

Abstract

Relief Sri Tanjung terpampang pada dinding luar pendapa teras ke-dua Candi Panataran, Blitar, Jawa Timur. Masyarakat meyakini, narasi relief tersebut mengangkat cerita legenda Banyuwangi zaman Jawa Pertengahan. Di dalam relief terlihat adanya figur-figur dalam lakon cerita Sri Tanjung berikut penanda pepohonan, hewan, atau bentuk alam lain dalam gaya dekoratif. Beberapa penelitian telah berusaha menafsir relief dari sisi yang lain. Tetapi Rupabheda hadir sebagai teori estetika yang menjadi dasar penafsiran yang baru. Analisis Rupabheda berhasil menelaah pergeseran makna dari beragam tanda yang terdapat pada arca Hindu. Penelitian ini menemukan adanya kebaruan makna dalam identifikasi tokoh-tokoh di dalam relief. Visualisasi relief cerita Sri Tanjung telah menyamarkan ikon budaya Jawa Pertengahan dalam relief arca Hindu. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa relief Sri Tanjung telah memasukkan narasi cerita lokal yang berbeda dengan epik Mahabarata – Ramayana dalam situs bangunan Hindu.Kata kunci: Rupabheda, Relief, Sri Tanjung, Semiotik

Abstract

Di kegelapan malam terlihat dua pocong duduk di depan pos ronda Dusun Tuk Songo, Purworejo. Balutan kain putih mayat manusia dimanfaatkan sebagai media sosialisasi untuk membatasi mobilisasi warga selama pandemi Covid-19. Pentingnya penelitian ini dilakukan adalah untuk mengamati efektivitas pemanfaatan gagasan mitologi tradisi Jawa terhadap masyarakat moderen melalui pendekatan semiologi Barthes. Berdasarkan pengamatan, muncul makna konotatif berlebihan yang terlihat dari ekpresi ketakutan (fear) hingga keresahan (anxiety) pada anak dan remaja. Gagasan pemanfaatan media pocong jadi-jadian ini merupakan tindakan yang tidak disadari sebagai bentuk demitosiasi dengan tujuan kreativitas yang menghibur.  Namun demikian gagasan ini justru menguatkan mitos pocong sebagai arwah orang mati yang masih dapat dijumpai dalam kehidupan moderen meski mengaku merasa beriman (remithology). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan demitosasi benda mistis-ritual pada media yang dituturkan berulang membangun wacana dan berhasil merubah perilaku warga untuk tetap di rumah. Temuan penelitian ini menyumbang pendekatan baru untuk mendisiplinkan masyarakat modern dengan pendekatan tradisi religiusitas lokal.

Abstract

Virtual Tour (VT) Museum Bank Indonesia merupakan aplikasi menelusuri ruang museum secara maya, tanpa harus datang ke museum. Namun, muncul permasalahan pengguna hanya menelusuri ruang tanpa mengakses artefak yang dipamerkan. Penelitian ini mengembangkan aplikasi dalam bentuk Multiplayer Virtual Tour yang dapat dimainkan oleh lebih dari satu orang pemain, dalam satu layar virtual. Tangan pengguna (user) bersama pengguna lain seakan-akan dapat menyentuh artefak yang ditampilkan secara maya. Muncul keingintahuan impak efektivitas pembacaan materi pameran dengan menghadirkan konten imersif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menelaah respon pengguna dari segi usability dan interactivity. Secara metodologis, penelitian dianalisis dengan metode Miles and Huberman. Hasil kajian mengungkap bahwa aspek usability MVT terlihat lebih menarik. Pengunjung mengamati lebih detail materi pameran. Pengunjung tidak merasa sendirian, serasa dalam permainan game. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa interaktivitas dibangun dengan keigintahuan pengalaman bermain-main dengan artefak imersif. MVT memunculkan kembali esensi pengunjung yang sejatinya makhluk sosial yang selalu ingin berinteraksi. Kata kunci: imersif, interaktivitas, kehadiran sosial, multiplayer virtual tour, museum.

Abstract

The Relationship Between Myths and Public Perceptions in the Honda Beat Deluxe Smart Key x Kobo Kanaeru YouTube Advertisement. In recent years, advances in the digital era have given rise to a phenomenon of transformation in advertising in Indonesia. This study is motivated by the urgency to understand the impact of innovation in digital advertising strategies, particularly the potential use of Virtual YouTubers (VTuber) as a more efficient alternative to human models, in terms of cost, reduced risk of controversy, and message delivery effectiveness. However, the utilization of VTuber in the context of marketing in Indonesia remains suboptimal. Digital advertising transformation now enables advertisements to function not only as promotional media but also as a means of building narratives through myths, as seen in the use of VTuber as an advertising model. The Honda Beat Deluxe Smart Key x Kobo Kanaeru YouTube advertisement was selected as the focus of this research because it contains symbolic complexity and mythical construction that are intriguing and have not been extensively studied previously. This study aims to examine the relationship between the myths constructed in the advertisement and audience perception to understand the impact of this innovation on the potential for unique digital marketing communication strategies implemented by Honda. To achieve this objective, this study employs a qualitative descriptive method using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis to identify the myths contained in the advertisement, as well as Schmitt's sociological theory approach to analyze how the audience interprets and responds to the message conveyed. Based on the discussion, it is found that myths in advertisements have a significant influence on how audiences understand messages, while also offering novelty in digital advertising creativity. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the close relationship between constructed myths and audience perception as an important element in digital advertising strategies.

Abstract

Film atau movie merupakan serangkaian gambar diam yang menciptakan ilusi gambar yang bergerak di dalam layar. Film Spiderman merupakan film yang menceritakan seorang pahlawan super berasal dari Amerika Serikat di adaptasi dari komik Marvel dengan karakter fiktif yang diberi nama Spiderman, Spiderman merupakan karakter yang berasal dari laba-laba. Genrenya adalah film petualangan, laga, fiksi ilmiah, film pahlawan super. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi 3 perbedaan karakter Spiderman. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan metode analisis semiotika C.S Pierce dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif adalah penelitian yang melakukan riset yang cenderung bersifat deskriptif atau cenderung menggunakan analisis data. Dari hasil pembahasan diketahui perbedaan dari 3 Spiderman yang memiliki ciri khas pertama dalam film “Spiderman 2002” mempunyai karakter yang kutu buku, culun dengan jaring laba-laba yang timbul dan warna biru yang gelap, kedua “The Amazing Spiderman” menggunakan topeng yang berbentuk seperti bola basket warna merah gelap dengan karakter yang mudah bergaul dan tidak mendominasi sebagai pahlawan, terakhir “Spiderman: Homecoming” menggunakan web shooters yang lebih canggih  dibandingkan dengan versi sebelumnya, kostum yang digunakan berwarna merah dengan aksen warna biru di bagian pinggang dan pola jaring laba-laba lebih tipis serta karakter yang energik dan berani.
