Abstract

This study presents a pollen record of the purported Holocene Alluvium in Bangka Island, Indonesia. This alluvial unit’s age and stratigraphic position have been disputed, and this pollen study is expected to provide crucial evidence on the matter. The pollen content is also likely to reveal the vegetation landscape and environment of the samples, further enhancing our understanding of the area. Three samples were taken from outcrops at three different points of the alluvial deposit, and the samples were rich in pollen and spores. We identified 54 pollen and 12 spore taxa. The pollen assemblages suggest that the samples were deposited in an open forest environment of the evolving disturbed heath forest ecosystem. Several cultivated plant pollens indicate that the samples were deposited in modern times. Abstract

This research evaluates the effect of group guidance services using role playing techniques in increasing students' self-confidence at Bimbel Awahita. Before the intervention, eight students experienced self-confidence problems, such as anxiety about speaking in public, hesitation in answering questions, and avoiding social interactions. The intervention was carried out in six group guidance sessions through simulated social situations, such as speaking in front of the class and interacting with friends and teachers. Each session is accompanied by positive peer feedback to create a supportive environment. The results of the research show a significant improvement, where students who were previously anxious are now more courageous in speaking, actively participating and being open in interactions. This method has proven effective in helping students overcome social anxiety and improve communication skills, both in tutoring and formal schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative methodology and concludes that role playing is an effective approach to increasing students' self-confidence.

Abstract

Ethno-mathematical research trends pioneered by D'Ambrosio are on the rise, especially in Indonesia as a nation with high cultural diversity which has a lot of potential researches to be explored. This paper has two major objectives, first to explore the importance of the role of mathematics in the practice of Dhikr Jahar in Tariqa Qodiriyyah Naqsyabandiyyah and second to contrast the differences between mathematical phenomena and mathematical concepts in ethnomathematics research. Attempts to contrast the mathematical phenomena and mathematical concepts in ethnomathematics was expected to provide a sharper highlight in the writing of ethnomathematics research. This research used qualitative methods with two approaches, namely ethnography and phenomenology. The locations of the research are at Pondok Pesantren Suryalaya-Sirnarasa and Padepokan Talangraga Tasikmalaya with observations for 9 months in the first stage and then 6 months in the second stage. The number of respondents interviewed in this research were 48 people. Data processing was performed using the Nvivo 12 Plus. The results showed that there are many mathematical phenomena in the practice of Dhikr Jahar Ikhwan TQN. In carrying out the practice of dhikr, the Ikhwan used a mathematical concept with two events, fingers and prayer beads aids. The concept of counting in dhikr was used strictly by the Ikhwan. They believe that numbers have an important role in the quantity of dhikr. Contrasting mathematical phenomena and mathematical concepts can be done with an emic and etic approach and is expected to become an alternative style in ethnomathematics research.

Abstract

Abstract

Punggur Besar Village, Kubu Raya Regency, faces challenges in providing clean water due to poor groundwater quality and limited distribution capacity. This study aims to assess water quality, estimate the demand for clean water, and evaluate the production capacity of the existing treatment system. The research involved preliminary surveys, literature reviews, data collection, water quality analysis, and an assessment of production capacity about community needs. The findings reveal that aeration alone is insufficient to meet water quality standards. However, filtration significantly improved groundwater quality, reducing turbidity by 98,2%, total dissolved solids by 17,3%, colour by 98,7%, iron (Fe) by 99,7%, manganese (Mn) by 33,3%, and increasing pH by 26,4%. The quality of river water, both untreated and aerated, remained below acceptable standards. The current production capacity of a single treatment unit, 20.966,40 litres per day, can serve only about 210 residents, far below the village"™s total demand of 829.800 litres per day. Meeting the community"™s needs would require 39 additional units, each powered by 10 solar panels and equipped with a Grundfos SQF 1-70 submersible pump. This study highlights the urgency of expanding water treatment infrastructure and integrating renewable energy technologies to ensure sustainable and equitable access to clean water for all residents of Punggur Besar Village.

Abstract

Based on the discussion described above, it can be concluded that the language impoliteness carried out by netizens in the comments column on social media during the 2024 regional elections is in accordance with Culpeper's theory. Language impoliteness threatens negative face in the form of actions that result in the person speaking to not agreeing to do something, giving rise to an attitude of commanding, ridiculing, giving advice, giving advice, reminding, threatening, warning and opposing. Actions that threaten the positive face of the interlocutor include actions that show a negative assessment of the interlocutor resulting in expressions of disagreement, criticism, degrading actions, complaints, anger, accusations, insults, actions that show the speaker's indifference towards the interlocutor in the form of conflict, disagreement or challenge, impolite emotions and expressions, as well as actions that use expressions regarding names. A study using Culpeper's theory found that impolite language behavior is related to direct impoliteness (40%), sarcasm (30%) and withholding politeness (30%).

Abstract

The Indo-Pacific Warm Pool significantly influences global atmospheric circulation, with tropical rainfall patterns highly sensitive to glacial–interglacial climate changes. During the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), approximately 26,500 years before present, lower insolation, expanded ice sheets, and reduced sea levels weakened the Australian–Indonesian Monsoon (AIM) due to a southward shift of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). In contrast, the Holocene period experienced intensified monsoon systems and increased precipitation. However, high-resolution hydroclimate reconstructions from the western Savu Strait remain scarce. This study reconstructs rainfall variability from the LGM to the Holocene using geochemical proxies from sediment core ST10 (at 1 cm interval), located in the western Savu Strait. Three elemental ratios (Ti/Ca, K/Ca, and Rb/Sr) from X-ray fluorescence (XRF) core scanning were used to indicate terrigenous input, chemical weathering, and fluvial discharge. The age model was established using radiocarbon dating and stable isotope alignment with the Greenland ice core δ¹⁸O record. Log-transformed elemental ratios reveal four intervals of increased rainfall: the LGM, Heinrich Event 1 (HE1), Younger Dryas to Early Holocene, and the Late Holocene. These periods are characterized by elevated Ti/Ca, K/Ca, and Rb/Sr values, suggesting enhanced monsoonal rainfall and continental runoff. Conversely, lower proxy values during the Early Deglaciation, Bølling–Allerød, and Mid-Holocene indicate drier climatic conditions. These patterns align with regional proxy records from southwest Sumba and the Timor Sea, confirming the reliability of elemental ratios in reconstructing past hydroclimate variability. This study provides the first continuous record of rainfall shifts in the western Savu Strait from the LGM to Holocene and contributes to understanding long-term monsoon dynamics in southeastern Indonesia, highlighting the complex response of tropical hydroclimate to global climate forcing.
