The objective of this study is to analyze the implementation of a positive discipline approach in efforts to establish a conducive learning environment for elementary school students. This research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach. The study was conducted at Jemur Public Elementary School in Kebumen. The subjects of this study include the school principal, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques involve interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Triangulation techniques were used to ensure data validity. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles & Huberman & Saldana model. The results of the study indicate that the positive discipline approach has been implemented effectively at Jemur Public Elementary School in Kebumen. However, collaboration between parents and the school needs to be further enhanced to ensure children can learn comfortably wherever they are. Strong collaboration among schools, families, and the community is recommended based on this research.

Abstract

Abstract Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) remains a leading cause of morbidity among children under five in Indonesia. Household environmental factors, such as the presence of smokers and the type of cooking fuel used are often associated with an increased risk of ARI. This study aimed to analyze the association between these factors and ARI incidence among children under five in Kelekar, Gelumbang, and Lembak Subdistricts, Muara Enim Regency. A cross-sectional design was applied with a total sample of 1,276 households with children under five, obtained through total sampling. Data were collected using the 2024 PBL FKM Unsri questionnaire and analyzed with the Chi-Square test. Results showed an ARI prevalence of 5.9%; 75.2% of children lived with smokers, and 97.9% of households used clean fuels (gas/electricity). Bivariate analysis indicated no significant association between the presence of smokers and ARI incidence (p=0.981) nor between the type of cooking fuel and ARI incidence (p=1.000). In conclusion, these two factors were not associated with ARI incidence. Other factors, such as household ventilation, low smoking frequency, outdoor smoking habits, as well as nutritional and environmental conditions, may play a more dominant role in influencing ARI among children under five.   Keywords: toddlers, cooking fuel, the presence of smokers, ARI

Abstract

This research aimed to increase the reproduction of dairy cows with artificial insemination (AI) in Filial Friesian Holstein cows using sexed semen. This research was conducted in Pandesari Village, Pujon District, Malang Regency, East Java. The 114 Filial Friesian Holstein cows were used in this research and divided into three Treatments: T1: 38 cows were inseminated using unsexed semen, T2: 38 cows were inseminated using albumin sedimentation sexed semen, and T3: 38 cows were inseminated using Percoll density gradient centrifugation (PDGC) sexed semen. The material was selected by purposive sampling with a minimum body condition score (BCS) specification of 2.5 (scale 1-5); the material had normal reproductive organs and showed signs of heat/estrus. The parameters of this study are the percentage of non-return rate (NRR) 1, NRR 2, and conception rate (CR). The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The differences in NRR and CR between the unsexed sperm, sexed sperm with albumin sedimentation, and sexed sperm with PDGC were analyzed with the chi-square test and were considered significant at p < 0.05. The chi-square test was carried out to compare the observed values with the expected values. The results showed that the success of artificial insemination was greater by using albumin-sedimented sexed semen compared to unsexed semen or PDGC-sexed semen, with NRR values of 1 (95%), NRR values of 2 (87%) and CR values of 63%. The conception rate of artificial insemination using albumin-sedimented sexed semen was 63% greater than that of artificial insemination using unsexed semen and PDGC-sexed semen, which obtained the same value of 47%.

Abstract

Abstract

The role of school supervisors during this pandemic is felt to be less than optimal in the supervision process, this is because there are several limitations or obstacles experienced by school supervisors. Some of the inhibiting factors come from factors within the supervisor (internal factors) and also factors from outside the supervisor (external factors). To overcome the problem regarding the inhibiting factors for school supervisors in carrying out their duties, there are several solutions including providing allowances for supervisors who work in schools that are far away and also building a conducive organizational environment so that teachers are able to be open with school supervisors. The purpose of this case study article is to analyze what factors cause the role of school supervisors to be not optimal in the process of implementing their supervision, by knowing what factors influence them, we can provide suggestions or solutions regarding the school supervisor's problems, especially during the pandemic. The research method used is literature study, namely research whose sources come from journals, scientific articles, literature reviews containing the concepts and discussions under study.

Abstract

Child malnutrition affects children's health in terms of morbidity and mortality rates. Stunting remains a persistent nutritional issue among children that has yet to be effectively addressed. This study aims to examine the impact of breastfeeding on the incidence of stunting in infants and young children. This study reviewed literature from two databases, PubMed and Google Scholar, based on predetermined criteria. The methodology was conducted using a systematic approach from the literature. The results of the study obtained nine articles that met the criteria, then continued with a systematic review. Three studies showed the role of breastfeeding as a significant protective factor. Five studies identified a link between breastfeeding and stunting incidence, while another study found no such association. The presence of a significant relationship and the protective role of breastfeeding against stunting are crucial in efforts to lower the risk of stunting among toddlers and young children.
