Abstract

Diabetes mellitus remains an evolving metabolic and endocrine disease. Effective pharmacological management of type 2 DM is still a global concern. Insulin therapy often causes side effects of hypoglycemia, so other therapies are expected to be combined with insulin. The literature reviewed in this review used two databases, PubMed and Cochrane, based on objectives, clinical keywords, and choice of articles according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The methodology was a systematic approach involving identification, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and comparison of relevant literature. A total of two results were obtained showing that the composite of insulin-based therapy and GLP-1 therapy in patients with type 2 DM provides effective results to control the levels of blood sugar in type 2 DM patients.

Abstract

Over 200 countries have experienced a further increase in COVID-19 cases and this has been considered to be influenced by climatic conditions. The most vulnerable countries to this increase are those with low vaccination rates. This study aims to determine the influence of climate on COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Furthermore, an ecological study design based on time conducted in Jakarta was used to obtain secondary data from March to September 2020. These data include maximum, minimum and average temperature, humidity, precipitation, maximum, and average wind speed, and solar radiation. The multiple linear regression test results showed that high humidity significantly affects the decrease in COVID-19 cases and 66.5% of the variations can be explained by this factor. For every 1% increase in humidity, there will be a decrease of 4 cases per week. However, the high humidity environment was reported to have the ability to suppress cases since transmission is still possible. Therefore, SARS-CoV-2 can still survive in humid conditions but in a relatively short time. Kata Kunci: Climate, COVID-19, epicenter, humidity.

Abstract

This study uses an innovative approach to predicting property prices using machine learning with the Random Forest Regression method. The dataset was obtained from Kaggle and consists of 500 rows with 12 attributes, comprising 10 numerical attributes and 2 categorical attributes. The evaluation results, calculated using the R² score on the test dataset, show strong performance, achieving the highest R² score of 81.88% with a dataset split ratio of 90:10. The scatter plot visualization indicates shows the model's predictions often correspond closely with the actual values, showing strong accuracy, despite a tiny gap between the anticipated and real values. The graph comparing the training data and the actual data shows no significant signs of overfitting or underfitting, demonstrating the Random Forest Regression model's strong accuracy in predicting house prices and its capacity to effectively capture the relationship between independent and dependent variables.

Abstract

The research and development of this 3D motion diorama media is pushed by the low critical thinking ability of grade VI students at SD Negeri 010140 Perkebunan Gunung Melayu. The purpose of this study is to develop teaching materials in the form of 3D motion diorama media about the subject of the solar and lunar eclipse to improve the critical thinking skills of sixth grade students. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model developed by Robert Maribe Brach. The results of the study show that; first, the dioramic media developed was declared very valid by experts, with a media feasibility percentage of 93% along with material feasibility of 94%, while the feasibility of the question instrument was 93%. Assessment by teachers obtained an average of 97% while student assessment obtained an average of 99%. Second, classroom trials showed a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills, with an average pretest score of 52.7 and post-test score of 91.7 (a difference of 39 points), and an N-Gain of 0.82, indicating a high category. The implications of the use of 3D motion diorama media are also able to improve critical thinking skills. The use of this media in understanding the concept of celestial eclipses also very clearly shows the active involvement of students. This study recommends the application of similar media in sciences subject learning to support the development of students' critical thinking skills in primary school.

Abstract

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) poses significant threats to livestock production systems globally, particularly cloven-hoofed animals. Indonesia's recent FMD outbreak, following 35 years of disease-free status, created substantial economic challenges for the dairy sector. Despite the scale of the outbreak, limited research has focused on its specific financial impacts on smallholder dairy farms, creating a critical knowledge gap for effective policy development. This study analyses the financial impact of foot and mouth disease (FMD) on dairy farming, focusing on changes in revenue, costs, and profitability before and after the outbreak. Through descriptive and input?output analysis, economic losses were quantified on the basis of structured surveys and secondary data from affected dairy farmers. The findings indicate that the FMD significantly reduced milk production revenue (-8%) while increasing overall farm costs (+6%), leading to a drastic 84% decline in farm profits. Increased spending on veterinary treatments, feed supplementation, and transportation further exacerbated financial instability, whereas a slight increase in livestock sales (+11%) served as a short-term coping mechanism. These results highlight the need for enhanced disease control measures, financial assistance programs, and policy interventions to support affected farmers. Implementing effective vaccination strategies, improving biosecurity protocols, and establishing government-backed economic relief programs can mitigate the financial burden of FMD on the dairy sector. This study contributes to the limited literature on the economic consequences of livestock disease outbreaks in Indonesia and emphasises the need for long-term resilience strategies to sustain dairy farm profitability and stability in disease-prone regions.

Abstract

When doing teaching, the teacher sometime uses games in delivering the material in order to make it fun. Wright et al said that games also help the teacher to create contexts in which the language is useful and meaningful. Whisper game, also known as ‘the broken telephone’, is a game that whisper or pass the message from person to person in a group, and the last person will announce the message that he/she got and compare it with the first person to see the similarity. The interested one of these games is sometimes the message will change to another message or information. In this research the writers used experimental method by using quasi experimental pre-test-post-test group design. The pre-test was given before the treatment at the eighth grade of one Junior High School in South Lampung. At the end of the treatment, the writers gave the students a test, which was called post-test. Towards the end, the score of pre-test and post-test compared in order to find the answer for the research questions. After giving the post-test, then the writers analyzed the data. From the data analysis, it was found that the result of independent sample T-test was 2.99. This result then was consulted to the score of T-critical, in this case T-critical 0.05 was 2. The hypothesis proposal was that Ho is accepted, if the score of Tobserve>Tcritical. From analysis the score of T-observe was higher than T-critical (0.05), so Ho was accepted, in other words, from this research, it was known that Chinese Whisper Game could improve the students’ speaking ability. Therefore, there was a significant influence of using Chinese Whisper Game towards students’ speaking ability.Key words: Chinese Whisper Game, Experimental Design, Speaking Ability
