Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the role of leadership and motivation in improving employee performance and to examine the role of job satisfaction as a mediating variable. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research employed a quantitative causal approach with data collected through questionnaires. The study involved 50 respondents determined using a saturated sampling method. The analytical technique applied was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. Findings: The results reveal that leadership style has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, and work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Furthermore, leadership style significantly and positively influences employee performance, as does work motivation. However, job satisfaction shows a negative and insignificant effect on employee performance. In addition, job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between leadership style and employee performance, nor between work motivation and employee performance. Research Implications: The findings highlight the importance of effective leadership and strong work motivation in enhancing employee performance in the public sector, particularly at the Kerinci Tourism Office. Nevertheless, job satisfaction does not serve as an effective mediating factor in strengthening these relationships. Therefore, organizations need to design participative leadership strategies and more targeted motivation policies to improve employee productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational culture, work environment, and work ethic on work motivation and employee performance, with work motivation as an intervening variable at the Education Office of West Sumatra Province. This research employed a quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). A total of 98 employees participated in this study, selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results indicate that organizational culture, work environment, and work ethic significantly affect work motivation. Furthermore, organizational culture has a positive but not significant effect on employee performance, while work environment and work ethic significantly affect employee performance. Work motivation was found to have a positive but not significant effect on employee performance. Regarding mediation, the findings reveal that organizational culture significantly affects employee performance through work motivation, and work environment significantly affects employee performance through work motivation, whereas work ethic shows a positive but not significant effect on employee performance through work motivation. These findings imply that in order to improve employee performance, the organization should pay greater attention to the work environment and work ethic directly, while also optimizing the role of work motivation as a mediator between organizational culture and work environment on employee performance.

Abstract

This study presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on demand forecasting and its role in managerial decision-making. Articles published between 2015 and 2025 were collected from Scopus, Web of Science, Dimensions, and Google Scholar using Publish or Perish software. Following PRISMA guidelines, eleven relevant studies were selected. Findings reveal that traditional time series methods such as ARIMA and exponential smoothing are still widely applied, while machine learning and hybrid models are increasingly used for higher accuracy in complex demand patterns. Bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer identified four main research clusters: model development, forecasting methods, managerial approaches, and sectoral applications. The study concludes that demand forecasting is not only a technical tool but also a strategic instrument to enhance managerial decision-making. Keywords: decision-making, demand forecasting, machine learning, managerial economics, systematic literature review.
