Abstract

The fundamental reason for this research is the need to enhance students’ understanding of the subject matter while preserving and strengthening local cultural identity amidst globalization. This study aims to analyze the implementation and impact of using the Javanese language in Social Studies (IPS) instruction at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Bulak, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency. The research method used is qualitative, with a case study approach involving classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and the headmaster, and document analysis. The research results show that the use of the Javanese language in social studies instruction varies at each grade level and is adapted to the student’s cognitive levels. This approach has proven effective in enhancing students’ understanding of Social Studies material, especially concepts related to the local socio-cultural context. The use of the Javanese language also plays a crucial role in language preservation and strengthening students’ cultural identity. Despite challenges in its implementation, such as balancing with the Indonesian language, this strategy overall creates holistic learning, improves academic understanding, and strengthens students’ social skills. These findings have significant implications for the development of curricula and learning strategies that are responsive to the local cultural context.

Abstract

Publishing scientific articles in reputable international journals such as Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) poses significant challenges for academics and practitioners in Indonesia. Many of them encounter obstacles in understanding writing standards, selecting appropriate journals, and navigating the peer review process. These limitations have resulted in low acceptance rates for articles in prestigious journals. Therefore, strategic efforts through Community Service Programs (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat or PKM) are necessary to enhance the capacity of academics in writing and publishing scientific articles. The PKM activity aimed to improve the understanding and readiness of academics and practitioners for publication in reputable journals through a scientific article writing workshop. The methodology employed a participatory approach using interactive workshop formats, which included material presentations, writing practice sessions, and direct mentoring. A total of 25 participants engaged in the full-day event. Workshop results demonstrated that most participants experienced a significant increase in understanding regarding scientific article writing structure, strategies for journal selection, and article submission processes. Additionally, participants gained increased confidence in addressing review and revision procedures. The implications of this activity highlight the need for continuous support to ensure academics can effectively apply the knowledge acquired in scientific publications. The recommendation from this Community Service Program is to develop more comprehensive programs with longer durations and more intensive guidance. By doing so, academics and practitioners can continuously improve the quality of their scientific publications, ultimately enhancing academic competitiveness at the global level. Keywords: scientific publication; reputable journals; workshop; Community Service Program.

Abstract

This study explores the concepts of love and empathy in Islamic education through hadith perspectives, focusing on understanding their profound role in supporting learning processes and interpersonal relationships. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes hadiths containing messages of love and empathy to identify and categorize key insights. The findings underscore the critical importance of love and empathy as essential elements in educational practice, particularly within Islamic educational frameworks that prioritize noble character development. These values contribute to creating supportive and conducive learning environments where students feel genuinely valued and understood. By fostering mutual respect, enhancing learning effectiveness, and strengthening social connections, love and empathy emerge as transformative principles that fundamentally shape students' character and personal growth. The research ultimately argues that integrating these compassionate values into Islamic education is not merely a pedagogical strategy but a fundamental approach to nurturing holistic, emotionally intelligent, and morally grounded individuals.

Abstract

Online investment has gained popularity in the digital age, but a major challenge is ensuring that such investments comply with Islamic economic principles. Islamic economics emphasizes the prohibition of riba (interest), gharar (excessive uncertainty), and maysir (gambling) in all forms of investment. This study aims to analyze the extent to which online investments adhere to Islamic economic principles and to provide practical guidance for Muslim investors in selecting compliant investment products. The research employs a library research method by gathering data from various literature sources relevant to Islamic economic principles and online investment practices. The collected data is analyzed to evaluate the compliance of online investments with Sharia principles. The findings reveal that while online investments offer convenience and flexibility, many investment products do not fully comply with Sharia principles. This study discusses key elements such as transparency, fairness, and risk, and provides guidance for choosing investments that align with Islamic economic principles. The study identifies that online investments must be free from riba, gharar, and maysir to be considered Sharia-compliant. Additionally, it is crucial for investors to verify legality, monitor transparency, and consult with Sharia experts.

Abstract

Scientific publication in reputable journals, both nationally accredited and internationally indexed such as Scopus, remains a challenge for lecturers in the Faculty of Islamic Studies. Results from a pretest involving ten participants showed that one scored 8, while the remaining nine scored 9 or 10 out of 10 questions, indicating a good cognitive understanding of publication fundamentals. However, technical issues persist, such as structuring articles, distinguishing abstracts from introductions, building a strong literature review, and using tools like reference managers, plagiarism checkers, and the Open Journal System (OJS). To address these, a practical and participatory workshop was held, covering material presentation, group discussions, submission simulations, and continued coaching. The post-test results showed an average score increase to 12.4 out of 15. About 60% of participants felt adequately prepared, while 40% felt very ready and optimistic. Most participants felt motivated, gained clear understanding, and received concrete tools for publication. Recommendations included online mentoring, article clinics, involving reviewers, and providing practical modules.

Abstract

The central research question addressed is: To what extent does the talaqqi method influence the improvement in both the quality and quantity of Qur’anic memorization in early childhood learners? This research adopts a qualitative case study approach, complemented by quantitative data through pretest and posttest assessments. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, school leaders, and parents, documentation of daily activities, and memorization tests to measure student achievement. The findings indicate that the talaqqi method, conducted daily through stages of listening, imitating, and repeating Qur’anic verses, is significantly effective in enhancing students’ memorization abilities. On average, students demonstrated an increase of 8 to 9 verses within a four-week period. Indirect impacts were also observed, such as improved discipline, greater love for the Qur’an, and respectful behavior during the learning process. This study contributes practical insights for developing effective tahfidz strategies in Islamic early childhood education and recommends future development of the talaqqi method through the integration of audio-visual media and play-based approaches. The findings highlight the importance of embedding Qur’anic values holistically in early childhood Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of gadget usage on emotional development and the ability to memorize the Qur’an among students (mahasantri) at Rumah Tahfidz Al-Qur’an Amal Syuhada Surakarta in the 2024/2025 academic year. The primary research questions are: (1) Does gadget usage affect the emotional development of mahasantri? (2) Does emotional development affect their ability to memorize the Qur’an? and (3) Does emotional development mediate the relationship between gadget usage and Qur’an memorization ability? This research employed a quantitative approach with an associative causal design. The sample consisted of 14 mahasantri selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using validity and reliability tests as well as path analysis with SPSS. The results show that gadget usage has a positive and significant influence on emotional development (β = 0.785; p < 0.05) and directly affects Qur’an memorization ability (β = 0.732; p < 0.05). Furthermore, emotional development significantly influences memorization ability (β = 0.648; p < 0.05) and acts as a mediating variable in the relationship between gadget usage and memorization performance. These findings indicate that well-managed and educational use of gadgets can support emotional stability and improve memorization outcomes.

Abstract

This mentoring program aims to improve the skills of Elementary School (SD) and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) teachers in Kacangan Village, Andong District, Boyolali, in developing textbooks based on local wisdom and in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. The approach used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) and Workshop-Based Training, where teachers play an active role in the process of developing teaching materials. This activity includes training, discussion, and intensive assistance to compile and adapt textbooks so that they are more contextualized with student characteristics. The results of this mentoring showed a positive response from the teachers. A total of 61.5% stated that they would “Yes, definitely” implement the results of the workshop, while the other 38.5% answered “Maybe”. This reflects optimism as well as caution in the implementation of the program. This assessment shows that the strategies implemented are considered realistic and workable in daily learning. In addition, this approach also increases teachers' awareness of the importance of integrating local values in education. The implications of this program include improving the quality of learning and strengthening cultural identity in the developed textbooks. To ensure the sustainability of this program, support is needed through collaboration between schools, communities and local governments so that the innovations that have been introduced can continue. Thus, education in Kacangan Village can progress without losing its local cultural roots.
